As promised, Toport departed every night at dusk and didn’t return for three hours. They spent each day within a training circle Toport had built outside the south gate, sparring with weapons he had purchased from a smithy in Stransin. He made Koragi promise not to try to kill him with hers before he gave it to her, and she laughed at him despite his serious tone. She was more comfortable around him, though he maintained his aloof manner, and she found other ways to read his emotions. His anger was easiest to recognize, of course.
