Toport allowed Koragi to rest for another hour, but then he insisted that they depart Stransin at last. Her aura no longer hidden by his, they had no cause to linger. Thin clouds blanketed the sky, but they still had a few hours of daylight to guide them. A startled gate guard didn’t stop them from leaving the city, but he briefly delayed them as he pressed the dangers of traveling so near to nightfall. Koragi thanked him for his concern, but left him to uneasily gaze after them with no explanation. The air was warm and humid, the breeze so light that it did nothing to ease the discomfort of the heat. Even the evening song of the insects and birds in the surrounding grass seemed subdued.
