She unlaced her leather vest, tossing it aside atop the dresser, and then removed her belt. She wiggled out of her trousers and changed into a soft, cream-colored night dress. She had just finished picking a knot out of her long hair when she noticed movement in the shadows. The single window allowed a small amount of moonlight into the room, pooled over the soft carpet, but the rest of the room lay shrouded in darkness. Her eyes had adjusted and she didn’t see anything else after staring at the walls and floor for several moments. Just as she started to calm again, attributing the hallucination to her weariness, the shadows around her billowed.
