Lia’s pov
We will finally be meeting after more than ten years. Rain and I have been so nervous to even knock. We were standing there looking at the cabin door, like it should open on its own. A lot of emotions were running through me. Even Zaya was muddled for a while. Memories of the last time we saw each other rushed into my mind with a killer headache. I could feel all the pain and sorrow. I saw how grandma died and how grandpa lost his senses for a while, and just that moment he let go of her. She was lost forever. Someone dumped a dead body next to her grandpa and that led to the current misunderstanding.
Just then, the door was pulled open with force and the man standing in front of us was just the same as in our memories, but the light in his eyes was not there. He looked like a walking corpse. After looking at us for a while, he started shaking his head like he had just seen a ghost. He kneeled down before us looking so guilty, I knew what was going through his mind. “ Grandpa, stand up please.” I said, as Rain and I helped him up. We couldn’t hold on anymore and we all cried together, all the pain from all those years coming back to haunt us.
“ My babies, I am sorry I failed you. All those years I could have done something to save all of you but I thought wrong. I thought that just talking would solve all our problems, but I was wrong. I was so wrong!” He said, crying his heart out. As for the problem, Rain and I figured out who it was. This almost brought our family to extinction. The anger that surged through me made grandpa and Rain look at me cautiously. “ Hey Lia, calm down. You have to calm down before you freeze everything around us. Calm down please!” Rain said, trying to sooth me and Zaya.
I took in deep breathes before all the ice retracted and disappeared completely. “ You already got your power? But you are too young for this to happen.” Grandpa said with worried eyes. “ It’s okay grandpa, I am learning how to control it and I promise I won’t hurt anybody.” I told him, trying to comfort him, and saw him secretly sigh in relief.
After I calmed down, we entered the house and rested for a while. Rain and grandpa were in the kitchen cooking a feast to celebrate this day. Grandpa told us all kinds of stories about his time as alpha of the fallen Red Moon pack, the atmosphere was better and relaxed as we laughed and added on to some stories.
Third person’s pov
As they talked and laughed and got to know more, like how their grandmother was so happy after she found out Lia inherited her eye colors, exactly the same. So she always said that Lia would grow up to be a sarcastic person and they had to get used to that side of her.
Somewhere else, Xander was seated in his car watching the walkway leading to Lias' and the twin’s house. It wasn’t really heard to find them but he had been waiting there for some time and couldn’t see any sign of the person he was looking for. He was frustrated that he shifted into his brown wolf and ran into the forest, he was so lost in his thoughts and didn’t feel that he was being followed.
He was knocked down by the huge dark brown wolf that looked at him with malice and anger. Xander was taken by surprise after he stood up from where he rolled and hit a tree. His back was bleeding and his wolf snarling at the other wolf, hatred was oozing off him. He hated this wolf before him and wished to kill him. After staring at each other intently, they both shifted and looked at each other cautiously. One was sneering and the other had a mocking look on his face.
This pair of father and son just met after many years but no love was between them. Xander hated his father for torturing and murdering his mother, while Xavier was disappointed by his son for being a coward and not stepping up to take over his father’s place as a lunatic with an obsession for white wolves and their mythical power. Xander knew his father was a lost cause, so he didn’t bother with him, but the more he saw his father like this, the more he hated white wolves. This was the main reason his father abandoned his own family, and even killed his mother for those wolves.
His only vendetta ever since he saw his mother murdered was to go around the world and kill every last white wolf and it finally became an obsession. While his father was obsessed with finding white wolves and building his army and kingdom, his son was finding and killing them mercilessly. Xavier didn’t know that the mass murderer that was being hunted by the werewolf council was his own son. If he knew and found out that he was only killing the white wolves, wouldn’t he faint from anger?
The father and son had a confrontation in the dark forest and the hostile sparks flowing between them could ignite a fire. Afterwards, Xander was tired and left without looking back and said with an eerily cold voice, “ don’t dare send people to look for me, I will kill all of them.” Those words shocked Xavier completely. He felt a chill down his back and just shrugged it off. He thought that his cowardly son had the guts to threaten him, so he laughed merrily and mockingly at the retreating back.
As he laughed away his frustrations, Dustin found him there and looked at him silently. He didn’t seem to notice him and continued murmuring something under his breath with a malicious look in his eyes. Dustin was just looking at him and suddenly he threw something towards him. The action was fast and smooth. Even the cautious Xavier, got played this time around.
Dustin implanted him with a microchip containing an extremely high dose of rye (it is a rare plant and it causes convulsions, hallucinations or death). It was something new the twins and Lia had been working on and Xavier had just sent himself to be a test subject.
Xavier shifted and ran back to his pack all happy and a little frustrated because of his son. He didn’t know he was about to suffer immeasurable pain and hallucinations that would definitely drive him to insanity, karma was about to come pay him back!
Dustin, who was still standing under the moonlight, had a smile on his handsome face, their first plan just went smoothly.
Dustin had a gut feeling that this pair of father and son would meet today, since one was looking for his own mate and the other had been looking for his son. He knew his plan was not full proof but he had to try. Dustin turned and went back home to get some rest. He missed his mate but he knew she needed time with her family. His mate had been through a lot and was still being hunted by a psychotic man. She needed this bonding time.
Somewhere in an airport, a couple was walking out with their luggage, the man holding the woman’s hands protectively and they smiled as they listened to each others conversation. The man looked to be in his early forties and the woman's mid thirties and they were a loving couple. Even with the sadness hidden deep in their eyes, they still attracted a lot of attention. People tried to guess who they were, but who cares about their thoughts?
An inconspicuous car with the logo of the werewolf royal family on it stood there as if waiting for someone. After a while, another middle-aged man and a beautiful woman came out of the said car and waved at the other couple who were walking out of the airport’s main door. The women hugged each other with lots of affection as the men hugged each other awkwardly. It was quite a funny picture seeing two tall burly men hug it out like long-lost brothers.
After the greetings, they all got into the car, they drove off leaving a number of girls and some men struck with an arrow through their hearts. The car drove towards the Dark Moon territory. The couples were busy catching up before they arrived. When they arrived, the people who were close to them bowed to the royal family, who were one of the couples. The couple who were waiting in the car was the royal family, Leo and Laura, and the other couple they went to pick up were Rance and Georgina. They are Rain and Lias' parents.
They were both welcomed into the palace and they settled down immediately. Since they were tired from their flight, they had a light dinner. While they were catching up and having tea, Laura brought up the most dreaded topic and Georgina knew her friend most. So she just listened to her friend with sadness in her eyes and her eyes turned red from all the pain and loss she had been through, but what Laura said next almost made her faint.
“ Ophellia is alive and well, my friend, and she met Rain already. They are out to visit old Carl.” Laura said as she looked at her dumbfounded friend in the eyes and nodded to show her she was serious. “ She is really alive! My baby is alive! When, when was this, why didn’t you tell us immediately?” Georgina asked in tears. She was not the only one whose emotions were all over the place. Her husband too was too shocked to move. This atmosphere was broken by a sullen Dustin who was coming in from a run. When he saw his mate's parents, he tripped and knocked down a vase. He was wondering if his parents were fond of shocking him every time he came back home. He lamented his poor luck of having such parents. They didn’t even tell him his future in-laws were coming back to their house!
When they heard the vase break, they all turned and looked in that direction, only to see Dustin, who was trying to salvage his face and reputation, almost fall face first on the scattered pieces. “ Alpha, Luna welcome back home and nice meeting you again.” Dustin said, looking innocent and a little bit dumb. His parents were on the verge of falling from laughter and Rance and Georgina were stumped, this was the alpha King and he was bowing to them. They felt a chill behind their backs like something creepy had just passed them.
