CHAPTER 13 | THE PROPOSAL & REJECTION

It’s been almost a week. Jayden began visiting Angela’s house frequently. His behavior towards Angela had become more & more close. Angela understood very well that he had such a strong feeling for her. She was exhausted. One after another, new turns were coming in Angela's life. She was very exhausted because of so many new turns in her life. Something was getting in the way between her and Andrew’s relationship repeatedly.

“I do not understand anything! Why is my life so messed up? I didn’t get peace at all when I was young and I still don’t get it either. Every time something got in the way between me and Andrew, every time. I’m sick of all this!”

“And all the credit goes to my evil step-brother Bill. You are responsible for everything, understand! You’re responsible for ruining my life, running Andrew’s life! You devil!”

Angela became ferocious suddenly. She was screaming. Her mood became very bad and she threw all the things on the dressing table in anger and stubbornness.

“Aaaaa…” Angela screamed.

She almost started to break everything in her room. Andrew quickly showed up in Angela's room after hearing screams and vandalism. When he showed up, he saw that Angela was acting totally crazy, she was screaming & vandalizing everything. Andrew tried to stop her. He grabbed Angela but it became hard to control her because she was trying to free herself from Andrew. She was squirming a lot. When Angela was unable to free herself, she began to scream louder. Andrew was afraid that the neighbors would hear the screams and call the police. So he grabbed Angela as hard as he could & he took out the medicine from the medicine bottle and fed it to her. Angela slowly calmed down and fainted.

“Angela… Angela…”

Andrew understood that Angela had fainted. So, he put Angela to bed, put the blanket on her. He was shocked & confused about the extreme craziness of Angela.

“Poor girl! I don’t know sometimes what happens to her? I know she has mental issues, but this type? Especially today, today was extreme! It was really hard to control her.”

“I have a doubt! Is Angela’s mental disorder really caused by her parents’ quarrels and fights? Or is there a secret behind it? A secret that Angela hasn’t told me yet. I don’t think that Angela’s major mental disorder was caused just because of her parents.”

“It looks like she was abused or something in her childhood. There is a strange fear of something, a pain is hidden in the corner of her mind due to which she sometimes has panic attacks. And I need to know what that painful incident was because of which Angela is in this condition today!”

Jayden’s home:

Jayden was pacing from one corner to the other of his room. He was deep in thought and busy making a plan. Jayden started making a lot of plans about how to tell Angela about his feelings, how to make Angela agree.

“It has been a long time since I met Angela. Also, I visited her house several times & spent way more time with her. Everything is perfect, this is the perfect time. I don’t think it’s worth delaying.”

“I have to fully enter Angela’s life before anyone else does. This time I won’t make the same mistake again. This time I will definitely tell Angela how much I love her. I have been waiting for that day for years. Now it’s time to end the wait.”

“Tomorrow I will take her to a beautiful place and propose to her.”

Jayden told his assistant to look for a place where he could decorate it & propose to Angela. He was happy & excited. His hopes for so many years were going to be fulfilled. After so many years, he was about to propose to his dream girl. It was just waiting for Angela to say yes. Jayden couldn’t have been happier.

The next day:

Everything was ready. Jayden had a farm house of his own. He decided to do everything there. He paid some decorators to decorate the farmhouse with flowers and balloons. Jayden had a soundbox. He plugged into the soundbox & played some romantic music. The entire house was decorated with red roses and Angela’s favorite white roses, along with red balloons. Everything looked more romantic in the soft candlelight. The entire decoration was arranged exactly as Jayden had imagined. The only thing that was missing was Angela. Jayden called Angela.

It was an hour after Angela came home after her duty at the hospital. She was taking a rest. She saw her phone was ringing.

“Hello, Jayden! What’s up?”

“Hey, Angela. Everything is good. Listen Angela, I have a party tonight with my friends & I want to come to my party.”

“A party? For what?”

“One of my friends got a promotion today & that’s why we are celebrating. I want you to come.”

“But I don’t know any of your friends. What if they mind if I go?”

“Are you kidding! You are my childhood best friend & you have the full right to come. Why would they mind? Please Angela, I’m requesting you!”

“Ok, ok. What’s the address?”

“Wait, I’ll text you the address. Thanks for coming, Angela.”

Jayden hung up the call. Angela was so confused about what to do. She didn't want to go to the party at all. The first reason she was tired, another was Jayden. Angela didn’t like being so close to Jayden, since she completely realized that Jayden had a feeling for her.

“I’m not going to Jayden’s party. I have to make some excuse and tell him that I can’t go.”

“I think you should go, Angela.” said Andrew.

“Oh baby, you’re here. But I don’t like being so close to him. I don’t want to go there.”

“I know, but who knows, maybe we can find out his true colors. Today, if you go, maybe you can know the truth whether he really has any feelings for you or not. So, I think it’s better for you to go.”

“You have a point baby. I didn't think of it that way. Thanks for bringing this point to me. I was so confused. But one more thing, baby, I don’t feel safe to go there because he said his friends were there. What if…”

“Just relax! I have your back. Did you forget who I am?”

“Oh my God! How could I forget? Yeah, you’re right. I have you, so I don’t have to worry about my safety.”

“And make sure you don’t forget to take your medicine with you. You’ve been having frequent panic attacks lately. Ok?”

“OK, I'm putting it in my bag now so I won't misplace it later.”

After the conversation with Andrew, Angela quickly got ready to go to the party. She wore a simple black dress so that Jayden wouldn’t be attracted to her because of her extra beauty. Angela also didn’t do any makeup, just simply got ready and left. But no matter what she did to hide her beauty, Angela, the princess of beauty, looked beautiful.

According to the address given by Jayden, Angela reached the farm house. But she could not hear any noise or music. Angela was puzzled again.

“Jayden said he was partying with his friends but it didn’t seem like there was any party going on there. There is no movement of people, no sound of music. So Andrew was right, his truth will come out today. I’m sure Jayden called me here for some other reason.”

“Come on Angela, let’s go inside! Today you have to find out what’s going on in Jayden’s mind,” Angela whispered.

Angela went inside the farm house. When he entered, he saw that all the lights in the room were off, only the light of many candles. In that light, Angela saw that the entire house was decorated with red and white roses along with balloons. After seeing all those decorations, it didn’t take long for Angela to understand what was going through Jayden’s mind. Meanwhile, Jayden realized that Angela was inside the house. As Angela moved a little further, Jayden turned on a light switch. As Jayden turned on the light, Angela saw

“I Love You Angela”

written in a large heart shape on the front wall. Angela was both angry and shocked at the same time when she saw that.

“Just what Andrew and I thought! Jayden finally revealed his real intentions, that he loves me. I just can’t believe it!” Angela whispered.

“I hope you love my surprise, my Angel.” Jaden said, coming out of the darkness of the corner of the room.

“What’s all this, Jayden? You told me you'd have a party!”

“Well, I lied about the party, Angela, there’s no party going on here.. All of these are for you, Angela. I have arranged all this to surprise you. Come here, I have another big surprise for you!”

“No! I’m not coming. You tell me what’s going on here?”

“Ok no problem. I’m coming.”

Jayden walked towards Angela with a rose in hand. Jayden kneeled down in front of Angela and held the rose flower in front of her and proposed to Angela.

“Angela, will you be my girlfriend?” asked Jayden.

Andrew was standing in a corner. Andrew was furious when he saw Jayden’s actions. He was slowly taking a terrible form, his eyes turned red, blood started to flow. Suddenly, the light in the room started to turn on and off. The wind was blowing very strongly. A few candles went out because of the wind. Angela understood that Andrew was there. She slowly looked to the side and saw Andrew. Angela said to Andrew with a wink not to be angry, she would handle the situation. After looking at Angela, Andrew gradually calmed down. Everything was back to normal again.

Jayden didn't believe in paranormal activity. Therefore, he was not at all afraid of Andrew’s intimidation. The weather had already been stormy that month, so Jayden thought the weather might have caused the wind.

“Don’t worry, that was a storm. Angela, I’m asking you again, will you be my girlfriend?”

“Jayden! Listen to me. We need to talk about this.”

“Talk about what?” Jayden seemed confused.

“Did you think when you were planning to propose to me today, Jayden, did you ever think about me? Do I love you or not? It could be that I love someone else. How are you so sure that I love you too?”

“What are you talking about, Angela? Why don’t you love me? I used to be by your side in difficult times of life from that small age. In between, there were years away, but I always thought of you. I am your best friend Angela.”

“Exactly, that’s what I’m saying too, you’re my best friend Jayden. There is a difference between a best friend and a lover. Yes, you have done a lot for me. I will never forget it, no one else can take your place, but that doesn’t mean I love you.”

Jayden stood stunned for a moment. Then he started laughing loudly.

“Youh… you’re joking, right? I know you love me, you are joking with me!”

“No Jayden! You’re wrong, I’m serious!”

Jayden stopped laughing. He lowered his head and sat down on a chair. He started to talk in a serious voice.

“I’ve loved you since I was a teen Angela, I love you more than anything in the world. What a wonderful time we spent together, we had so many memories together.”

“I have had feelings for you for a long time. I even wanted to tell you that I loved you before I left the day I was shifting to Florida.”

“But you didn’t come to see me the day I was moving to Florida, so I couldn’t tell you my feelings. If I could have told you that I love you, then you would be my girlfriend today. Because of that, I have the right to love you!”

“You are wrong Jayden, if you told me that day you loved me, I would have said the same back then. I don’t have any feelings for you! Yes, I love you only as a friend, but not as a lover!”

“Listen Jayden! You are a successful man and I am sure you will find a better girl than me. So, please don’t waste your time on me. I love someone else. I just hope you understand. I have to get out of here now, it’s getting late. Good bye Jayden, best of luck!”

After saying the words to Jayden, Angela was walking towards the main gate. But Jayden’s stubbornness didn’t stop, he ran from behind and grabbed Angela’s hand, he started dragging Angela.

“Hey Jayden! Stop! What are you doing? Leave me!”

“Not so easily, Angela baby! You are only mine, understand! You are only mine! And if you’re not mine, I'll snatch you. I won’t let you be anyone else’s!”

“Jayden leave me! Aaaah … you’re hurting me!”

Jayden wasn’t listening to Angela, and was dragging Angela inside to another room. Angela almost had a panic attack at Jayden’s behavior. She was getting very angry. Being unable to bear that anymore, Angela yanked her hand away and gave Jayden a tight slap. Jayden was in complete shock at being slapped by Angela, standing there in shock.

“You crossed your limit today, Jayden. I tried to convince you so many times, but you, sticking to your stubbornness and ego. If you really loved me, you wouldn’t be so selfish. It’s not love, it’s called ego! To you, your ego comes first, you don’t care about my feelings at all!”

“And I don’t want to be in a relationship with people who hurt my feelings. From today, forget that I am your best friend. I have no relationship with you. If you still want to force me, I will file a police complaint against you!”

Angela walked away after saying all of that. As he was leaving, Jayden started to say,

“You made a big mistake, Angela. You have to pay a big price for this, remember that!”

“Oh, now I’m being threatened too. OK, we’ll see.”

Angela left that farm house. She was driving the car & crying. Even her best friend became her enemy. But even then, she was not so upset about what she had done because she couldn’t deceive Andrew in any way. So Angela took such a big step to protect her and Andrew’s relationship. Angela went home and hugged Andrew and started crying. Andrew was very proud of Angela. Angela proved that day that she truly loved an insatiable soul deeply.

But Jayden, on the other hand, was burning with vengeance. The scene of Angela slapping him kept coming back to his mind, which made him infuriated even more. He couldn’t believe that Angela had rejected him, it was so humiliating for him. Jayden sat down on the couch and took a bottle of red wine. After pouring the wine into the glass, he finished it with a sip. Then he threw the glass and broke it. Jayden was seething with anger.

“It’s not possible! It is not possible at all. How dare you, Angela, how dare you to reject me!”

“I’ll not spare you, Angela! I’ll not spare you!!”

Jayden started smashing everything. He started destroying the decorations he had made for Angela. He lit a fire with a lighter and burnt the picture of Angela that he had with him. He erased all memories and traces of Angela from his life, as if Angela wasn’t his best friend & he didn’t have any feelings for her at all. In fact, what Jayden called love was really his ego. And Angela had to pay for Jayden’s ego.

“You have hurt me before, you did the same today. You are a cheater, Angela. From today, I am your worst enemy.

“I’ll never forget this incident today. I’ll teach you a good lesson which you will never forget! You slapped me, huh? You just wait & watch what I’m going to do with you!”

Jayden took his phone & dialed Bill’s number. The phone was in speaker mode. Bill picked up the phone after ringing for a while.

“Hello, Mr. Mulgannon. You were right! Angela is planning to take revenge. Today, when I was spying on her, I heard her conversation with herself. She was holding a knife & said, Bill Mulgannon, I’ll kill you with this knife!”

“What?? How dare she? What can we do now? I want to teach her a lesson!”

“Don’t worry Mr. Mulgannon, I have a great plan. Come to my office tomorrow and I will tell you everything. We will teach her such a good lesson that she will remember for the rest of her life!!”

“Ok, I will.”

Hanging up the phone, Jayden laughed out loud. He and Angela’s greatest enemy, her step-brother Bill, teamed up against Angela. They both started conspiring against Angela. Jayden was very happy.

“Angela, who will save you now? You are finished!”
