CHAPTER 7

Anton “She looks like she’s been crying,” I said, seething. “I’ll kill whoever dared to hurt our Luna,” Micah replied. “We should tell Alpha Woods,” I said as Micah nodded in agreement. I linked Alpha Woods to update him on our Luna's status. Alpha Woods Yes? Our Luna has been crying. WHY?! WHO HURT HER?! We don’t know yet, sir. Find out and report immediately. Have you found an apartment yet? No, Alpha, we just found her and we wanted to make sure we knew where she lived before we found your place. Fine. By tomorrow. Yes, Alpha. “What did he say?” “Find out why she's been crying and find an apartment tomorrow.” I replied with a shrug. I already knew what his response would be. Micah nodded and watched our Luna through the reflection of the glass window while I watched everyone else to make sure no one tried anything. So far this place is full of rogue wolves, faeries, a few vampires, and some other shifters. It seems like this place was a free-for-all, but there isn’t any violence. It reminded me of Silverwood. Alpha Woods was a good Alpha, and he helped a lot of different people from other species. Silverwood was almost like a haven, at least it was a haven for me when they first took me in. As I let my thoughts run wild, I heard a car speeding down the street and pull into the parking lot. A man stepped out of his honda and he seemed to be drunk. “Trouble?” “Mm, maybe,” Micah replied. “ERIANA!” The drunk man screamed. “Should we link Alpha Woods?” “Not yet. We can probably handle him. I think he might be a shifter or a warlock, but the booze is kind of hard to smell through,” he responded. “We have to keep her safe, I know that much. Alpha Woods would kill us if something happened to his mate,” I sighed. Micah nodded as we watched the scene unfold. “ERIANA!” The man screamed as he stumbled into the diner. “I know you’re here!” He bumped into the diner wall and tripped over his own feet. “Where are you, Eri?” The man cried in the middle of the floor. “Darius?! GET OUT OF HERE!” Luna Eriana screamed. “No, Eri! I’m sorry! Please don’t leave me!” I raised an eyebrow at Micah and opened our mind link. It might be easier than we expected to bring our Luna home. She’s still human, we still have to be careful with her. I know Alpha Woods wants his mate, but I know he wouldn’t want us to break any laws to get her. That’s true, but her having a boyfriend doesn’t seem to be an issue anymore. Yeah, we should let Alpha Woods know after we get rid of this asswad. Micah and I stood up to help our Luna, but she grabbed the man by his collar and drug him out of the diner by herself. She was so tiny, but so strong. She didn’t have any issues dragging this man who was twice her size through the diner. It was pretty amusing to watch. We walked outside behind her to make sure she was okay. Once outside, we stood on either side of her, ready to intercede in the situation. “Do you need any help, ma’am?” Micah asked Luna Eriana. “No, f**k this cheating scum,” Luna Eriana replied as she walked past us. “Come on, your food’s just about ready” As she walked away, I turned and stepped on his neck. “Stay away from our Luna or the next time I see you, I will rip you limb from limb,” I growled at him as he stared back at me, struggling to breathe — his eyes unwavering until he finally looked away. I took my foot off the man’s neck, and he gasped for his breath. I had a feeling this wouldn’t be the last time I saw him, and I knew I would have to make good on my promise. It didn’t bother me one way or the other, though. I would give my life to protect her. We walked back into the diner and reclaimed our booth. After we sat down, Luna Eriana came over and served us our food. “Sorry, ma’am, we don’t mean to be in your business or anything. So, I understand if it’s too personal, but are you okay?” “Oh, yeah, I’m fine. It’s just my lowlife piece of s**t of an ex. Yesterday was our fifth anniversary, and I walked in on him having s*x with my cousin,” she tried to sound nonchalant about the whole thing but I could hear the damage in her voice. “Oh, I’m so sorry, ma’am,” Micah said apologetically. “It’s fine,” she said, wiping away a few tears. “I don’t know why I’m pouring out my soul to a bunch of strangers,” she said with a laugh. “Anyway, enjoy your meal. Holler if you need anything,” she said, walking away from us again. Alpha Woods? Yes? We found out why she has been crying. Yesterday was her 5th anniversary, and she walked in on her boyfriend having s*x with her cousin. Fucking piece of s**t. I’ll kill him. How dare he hurt my Luna. Who the f**k does he think he is? He showed up to the diner today drunk and begging her to take him back and she literally dragged him out by his collar. She’s so strong for her to be so small. She will make an amazing Luna. Yeah, I know. She’s amazing. Have you found out what is the population like? Supernaturals everywhere. Everyone here lives in peace, like in Silverwood. I don’t think the humans here realize who and what they live amongst. Hm. Interesting. Who is in charge of this area? I don’t think anyone is. We will look into it, though. No need. Monitor Eriana. Yes, Alpha. We sat around the diner for a few more hours after settling our bill and made sure Luna Eriana’s ex didn’t come back. We waited in the car for her shift to end so we could follow her home and complete our next task. I left Micah in the car in his human form while I undressed and shifted behind the car to patrol in the woods. I laid down at the treeline between two bushes and watched Luna Eriana for the next two hours. It was pretty amazing to see how she interacted with so many people of other species, indiscriminately. She would fit right in at home.
