4 Shawn was Back

Rena looked at Leo and saw that he was still concentrating on his documents. Every once in a while, he would pick up his pen to write something in the margins. "There is a mirror in the bedroom over there," James added. "Please, go and try them on." She took the jackets that he offered her and went into the bedroom as instructed.  In the end, Rena picked the medium-sized leather jacket, because it fit better in the sleeves. When she returned to the main room, she found that James was gone, and only Leo remained. He looked up when she entered, and his eyes widened slightly. He appreciated how she looked in a leather jacket, and how it made her porcelain skin look paler. After all, Leo always had a thing for girls dressed in leather.  Rena didn't like the strange light in his eyes as he looked at her, and she shifted uncomfortably on her feet. She then noticed that her bag was on Leo's desk, as well as her cell phone. Though she wondered what he wanted with her phone, she remembered that she had photos of the same-s*x couple on it. "Mr. Caswell, may I please have my things," she asked, her voice a little more steady. "If you are worried about the pictures, I have deleted them," he stated calmly.  "What the hell? What gives you the right to go through my things?" Rena fumed. "I am trying to help you, Rena." "Help me how exactly?" "I have given you a jacket, and will offer you a ride back to your job. It is compensation for earlier." "What if I reject your compensation? And what about the pictures you deleted!" She wasn't going to be weak any longer and was going to fight back. "Come with me, and I will return your things." Leo rebuffed coldly, " James was waiting in the parking garage for Leo. When he saw his boss walking with Rena next to him, he had mixed feelings. With Leo in his tailored suit, and Rena looking sharp in her green dress and leather jacket, he had to admit that they looked good together. But, James remembered how Rena was in Leo's room, and he also wished that she stay far away from him. When it came to the women who were often seen at Leo's side, they were usually female celebrities who, even renowned for their beauty, paled in comparison to him. However, this was not the case for Rena, who was only about three inches shorter with her heels on.  If Ethan and his partner had reported Rena to the hotel, they would be looking for her. Now that she had her hair down and was wearing a leather jacket with Leo escorting her, she was sure not to raise any suspicion. James opened the back door of Leo's Escalade, and Rena climbed in first with Leo following behind. She affixed her eyes to the window the first moment she got and refused to look at the person next to her. She had experienced a lot in a short amount of time: panic, desperation, nervousness, fear, and anger, and Leo was responsible for most of them. Rena knew that she would consider herself fortunate if she never had to deal with such a cold-hearted man ever again. "Miss Marsh, am I dropping you off at Weekender Magazine?" James asked from the driver's seat. "That would be nice. Wait, how did you know where I work?" James calculated his answer for a few seconds. "Just a lucky guess." Before Rena could wonder if he was a creep or just psychic, her phone rang in her purse. She quickly took it out and answered it.  "Hello, Shawn? ... Yes, it's good to hear from you. What's new? ... You're coming back? Will Dad come with you too? ... That's great! See you then." After she hung up, she lost herself in the excitement that the news of Shawn's unexpected visit provided. Rena was, therefore, unaware of the shift in mood from Leo. When the car pulled to a stop, he glared at her. "Now get off," he ordered with a sharp look in his eyes.  Rena was caught off guard by his behavior before she collected herself and stuck up her chin. "Sure," she replied with venom. Though she tried hard to fight it, she felt the good feelings from the earlier phone call disappeared entirely. She had no idea what she did to offend Leo, but at the same time, she didn't care. They were strangers who got mixed up twice, and he took advantage of her.  As she walked towards the company, Rena let the tension leave her body, and she breathed a sigh of relief. She was worried about how her coworkers would feel about her getting back to the office so late, but they turned out to be too busy to notice her. Rena returned to her desk and opened up f******k on her computer. She discovered that she had over a hundred messages from the Weekender Magazine intern group chat that she was a part of. Curious, she opened up the conversation window and began to read. Do any of you watch the soap opera Crossroads? I found out Shawn Whitmore has returned to Washington, and every media outlet wants his exclusive interview. One intern asked. It's big news, who do you think will get the interview for our magazine? Another replied. Rena scrolled down the screen. I heard a rumor that Gina volunteer to do it. Rena blinked as she continued to sift through the messages. She ignored all the ones that praised Shawn, especially those that declared him as a God or their one true love. The only thing she wanted to read was useful information.  Gina's mother is partnered with Starlight Entertainment, and Shawn is one of their contracted talents, a different intern chimed in. Hey, Gina, if you do get to meet him, can you get his autograph for me? Wrote another. Yeah, we all want a picture with him! Can you bring us all with you for the interview? Love you! Rena shook her head in amusement. Her brother, in name only though, was a phenomenon in this field. Shawn Whitmore was a martial arts star, who came from a family where the practice was their lifeblood. He excelled at the sport, and eventually, his expertise was used in TV productions. From there, he was offered acting roles in movies, before he eventually transitioned into being an actor. She considered him as the one who always stood out from the crowd. Shawn had specific energy about him that people were drawn to, including herself. From as early as she could remember, she thought of him as a brother.  He was born in Savannah and grew up with Rena. Shawn's father and Rena's father were best friends, and one day, they made a pact that if they had kids that were opposite genders, they would want them to get married. However, they didn't consider the possibility that their kids might not even like each other.  Their father's boasted about the future pairing so much that quite a few people in Savannah knew about the arrangement.
