Chapter 2Startled, Perseus jumped to his feet and sprinted back home. When he reached his hut, he saw a man clutching his mother’s wrist, attempting to pull her onto a nearby chariot. Filled with a sudden fury, he leaped at the man and hurled a punch, connecting with the man’s jaw. The man cried out and released Danae, who jumped back.
“Perseus! Thank the gods,” Danae said, her hand going to her heart.
Perseus turned towards her. “Are you all right?”
Breathless, Danae nodded. Perseus whipped around and faced the man, who was rubbing his jaw. He stared at Perseus and sneered. “That was a mistake, boy.”
“The mistake was yours!”
