Lian and Haoran whispers of the Heart
💖 Lian and Haoran — Whispers of the Heart
Chapter 1 – Scene 1: When the Rain Fell Softly
The rain hadn’t stopped for three days.
Outside the café, the streets shimmered with reflections — of headlights, of umbrellas, of hurried people chasing warmth. But inside, the air was still, heavy with the scent of roasted coffee and the faint sweetness of vanilla.
Lian sat alone at his usual corner table, his sketchbook open but untouched. The pages were filled with faces — imagined ones, familiar ones, and one he couldn’t stop drawing even though he’d never met him. A pair of quiet eyes. A gentle smile. A feeling he couldn’t name.
He sighed and turned the page, telling himself not to be foolish.
Dreams weren’t meant to feel this real.
Just then, the bell over the door chimed softly.
A man stepped in, shaking droplets of rain from his umbrella. He was dressed in black, his hair slightly damp, and his gaze calm — so calm it silenced the hum of the café for a moment.
Lian’s pen froze mid-line.
Something in the stranger’s presence tugged at him — like a forgotten melody his heart suddenly remembered. When their eyes met, time didn’t just stop; it bent.
Haoran walked to the counter, his voice low when he ordered, but Lian caught it anyway. The sound wrapped around him, deep and smooth, like velvet against the cold air.
He didn’t know why, but he wanted to hear it again.
Haoran glanced around the café, searching for a seat. Most were taken — except for the one across from Lian. Their eyes met again, this time not by accident.
“Is this seat taken?” Haoran asked, his tone polite but distant.
Lian shook his head quickly, maybe too quickly.
“N-no. You can sit.”
Haoran gave a quiet nod and sat down.
The rain outside grew heavier, beating against the glass like a secret trying to escape.
For a while, neither spoke. Only the sound of rain and the slow ticking of the wall clock filled the silence between them.
And yet… it wasn’t uncomfortable.
It felt almost familiar.
Lian finally looked up, trying to smile. “You don’t mind rain?”
Haoran’s lips curved slightly, just barely. “It reminds me that the world is still alive.”
Something in those words struck Lian — deep, gentle, and strange.
He didn’t realize it then, but that night marked the beginning of a story that would change both their hearts forever.
