With the Alpha’s permission, Edmund and I got an apartment in the pack. Darren stayed for one more day, and then the Luna teleported him to San Francisco to meet up with Beth. I got a job as a landscaper, working under a human with immortality named Robert. It worked out perfectly with the job because I could watch out for Charlie…AKA Laken…as she moved about the pack.
One day, she went riding with her adopted mom, Carolyn, and another girl, so I told Robert I would be back in a bit. I ran to the woods and shifted into Rypere, following them at a safe distance. I must have gotten too close because Charlie’s adopted mom stopped her horse, made the girls turn around and go back down the trail. That is when she discovered Rypere.
