The day my husband chose another woman over me was the day I stopped loving him. When his first love returned from overseas, he didn't hesitate to abandon our marriage. "I'll make it up to you after she recovers." Those were the last words he said before leaving me alone on our wedding anniversary.Hours later, I lost our baby... Or so everyone believed.Five years later, I returned with a daughter and a new identity as the hidden heiress of the Lancaster family—the richest family in the country. Now my ex-husband is the one following me everywhere. He sends flowers, buys the company next to mine, and even kneels in the rain. But he'll never know... The little girl calling another man "Daddy" is actually his daughter. And this time... I'm the one refusing to forgive.

The Woman He Chose
The Woman He Chose POV: Amelia Lancaster I spent four hours in the kitchen setting the table with all of Ethan’s favorite dishes, and the positive pregnancy test was tucked inside my handbag on the chair because I wanted to show it to him right after we finished dinner. It was our fourth wedding anniversary, and every time I looked at the clock on the wall, I felt a rush of excitement because I was so sure this news would bring us closer together. The front door opened around seven in the evening, but before Ethan could even take off his coat, his phone started ringing loudly on the marble counter. He reached into his pocket and answered it immediately, and I watched his expression turn from tired to completely frantic in a matter of seconds. "What do you mean she collapsed?" Ethan shouted into the receiver, and he didn't even notice the candles I had lit across the table. "Mr. Kingsley, please come quickly because Miss Bennett tried to hurt herself after her fiancé left her, and she’s crying for you outside the office," a woman’s frantic voice cried out from the speaker, and I recognized it as Sophia's personal assistant right away. "I’m on my way, so just keep her calm until I get there," Ethan said quickly, and he turned around toward the door without taking off his shoes. "Ethan, wait, because tonight is our anniversary, and I cooked all afternoon so we could talk about something really important," I said as I stepped into the hallway, reaching out to grab his sleeve. "Amelia, Sophia is in critical condition right now, so we can talk about our anniversary tomorrow when I get back," he replied while pulling his arm out of my grip, and he didn't even look me in the eye as he pushed the door open. "She has doctors and assistants around her, but I am your wife, and I need you to stay here with me tonight," I said, and my voice was trembling because I couldn't believe he was walking away from me so easily for her. "I'll make it up to you after she recovers, but right now her life is in danger, so please try to be understanding for once," those were the last words he said before he slammed the front door shut, and the loud sound echoed through the empty hallway. I walked back into the dining room, sitting alone at the table while the food grew cold, and the silence in the house became heavier with every passing hour. I sat in that chair until the clock struck midnight, watching the candles burn down to nothing, and then I picked up my phone to call him, but it went straight to voicemail every single time I dialed. The sun was just starting to rise when the front door unlocked again, and Ethan walked into the living room looking exhausted with his tie loosened around his neck. I was still sitting on the couch in the exact same clothes from last night, watching him as he tossed his jacket over the back of a chair. "You're still awake," he said, stepping into the room while pulling his phone out to check his messages. "You left me alone all night on our anniversary, and you didn't even answer any of my calls," I said softly, looking straight at him while holding my hands together tightly in my lap. "Sophia had a massive panic attack, and the doctors said she shouldn't be left alone right now, so I had to stay at the hospital until she fell asleep," he explained casually, moving toward the kitchen to grab a glass of water from the dispenser. "So you stayed with your ex-girlfriend all night while I sat here waiting for you," I said, following him into the kitchen because the anger inside me was starting to build up. "It's not like that at all, but she has nowhere else to go in the city because her fiancé kicked her out of their apartment, so she will be living in our guest villa temporarily until she finds a new place," he said as he took a sip from his glass, and his tone was completely indifferent as if he was just talking about the weather. "You want to bring the woman you used to love into our home, and you expect me to just accept that without saying anything?" I asked, and I felt a sharp pain in my chest because his decision showed me exactly where I stood in his life. "She needs help right now, so don't make this harder than it needs to be, and besides, the guest house is on the other side of the yard, so you won't even see her that much," he answered, setting the glass down on the counter and walking toward his study without offering a single word of apology. My heart shattered right then and there, and I realized that my presence in his life meant nothing compared to her, so I reached into my handbag, pulled out the small white stick with the two dark red lines, and slowly pushed it back into the deepest pocket of my bag before he could turn around. "Are you coming upstairs to get some sleep?" Ethan asked from the hallway, stopping for a brief second to look back at me over his shoulder. "No, you go ahead, because I need to clean up the mess in the kitchen first," I said quietly, keeping my back turned to him so he couldn't see the tears finally running down my face.
