Chimera

1199 Words
Sebastian’s POV   I have been concerned about that witch that made such horrid creatures like that chimera since the encounter. It’s something I haven’t mentioned to either Levi or Mana as to not worry them. They were aware of the threat and I know I’m worrying more than I need to. The pack had many allies, more than I believe any other has. Logan was still in pack territory and appeared to be staying for some time. Sandalphon split his time between the wolves and fae, he was an extremely powerful ally to have. Mana is a powerful mage and a dragon, an amazing force of magical and physical prowess. I shouldn’t be worrying as much as I am. Yet my fears seem justified as I find myself pinned to my bed by a patchwork nightmare that was no doubt a creation of that witch. A wolf’s head attached to a body that appeared to be human in appearance though it was covered in dragon armored scales. On its back the wings of fae, dragon, and succubus. The creature was one of nightmares and seeing the dragon features made me terrified to think this may become the fate of my mate. I summon my magic to strengthen my body to try and force the creature to release me. It’s hold was firm and didn’t budge, this thing was a monstrosity with strength as fearsome as its appearance. I silently curse as I try to scream to alert the pack but its clawed hands close impossibly tight around my throat preventing a single sound from escaping me. I try to reach for my sword but it seemed the creature’s master had thought to ensure I had no weapons nearby. I’m losing the fight to stay conscious as my air supply has been cut off. I try one last thing as I summon my magic once again to reach out for my blade to activate the familiar within it. The familiar lets out a piercing cry that doesn’t even cause the creature to look at it. I suspect the creature had a single mission and it wouldn’t be deterred from it. My fight to stay conscious is lost and I pass out before I even know if my last attempt had any results.   ~   Levi’s POV   I had a feeling something was wrong, I couldn’t explain it but I patrolled through my territory while shifted trying to find what it was. There was a horrid smell that flooded my senses only once I was fully shifted. Like rot and death, a smell so putrid that I nearly threw up right there. It was almost enough to force me to shift back but I needed to find the source. Such a thing cannot be allowed to remain near my pack. It seemed to fill the entire area though making it impossible to find the source. Only when I heard a piercing cry did I turn my head towards Sebastian’s home. Without hesitation I rush towards the building and enter the home. A creature of nightmares had Sebastian in its mutated grasp. The smell is so much worse if that was possible and I had to fight my own sickness caused by it to help Sebastian. I lash out at the creature closing my jaw around the creature’s shoulder but it didn’t seem to hurt the monstrosity. Snarling I feel a fire ignite within me, that fire becoming a reality as flames exploded from my mouth. The smell of rot became worse as it burned. It clawed and screeched as it fought to escape my grasp but I wouldn’t release it. I had no idea how it reached this far into my territory but it would be found and fixed. The screeches died off as the creature was little more than a smoldering mess of unrecognizable flesh. I release it and turned to Sebastian. He’s unconscious and I fear I may have been to late. I shift back and pick up the other man. “Sebastian? Wake up, I know you’re far to stubborn to die. To honorable to die at the hands of something so corrupt. Wake up you bastard!” I snarl finally causing the man to gasp as he came to. So relieved to see him conscious and alive I rush forward and kiss him. He’s shocked before he grabs my hair and returns the kiss with just as much passion. Pulling apart I look at the human that I share a mate with, having never considered being just as much a mate to him as I was to Frost. “Wow, that was some kiss.” He says impressing causing me to chuckle. “Shut up human.” I tell him playfully before turning to the remains of what had tried to take Sebastian from me and Frost. “How the f**k did this thing get here?” Sebastian stands and pulls me to my feet as he does so. Disposing of the body needed to be done but first I wanted the mages to find out how this thing got so far into pack territory.   ~   Frost’s POV   Being called with some of the mages that arrived with Logan wasn’t what I was expecting when I woke up this morning. The reason for our summons was made clear when we were shown the smoldering body of a creature that shouldn’t exist. As Levi explains to us what happened I sense Sandalphon approach. He looks enraged, an expression I never thought I’d see on his face. “Sandalphon?” He kneels beside the creature looking to be in mourning. “This thing was made with parts from a dear friend of mine. The only way that witch got him is if my brother gave him to her.” His body was trembling with anger as he stood. “I cannot let him get away with this. I will face him and remove him from his place as my people’s prince.” I reach out to grab his arm before he can storm away. His cold gaze locked onto my worried one. “I’ll go with you.” “Mana!” “Frost!” Sandalphon looks like he’ll argue with me but he finally gives a nod. “We will return as soon as possible. Increase your defenses and if you have allies call them. This creature easily breached your defenses likely because the witch is observing you.” Before the others could say anything, we take off. I know Levi and Sebastian will worry but I cannot stand by while someone is willingly offering others to become materials for that insane witch. The fact I’d be seeing the rest of my blood family didn’t really register in my mind until I could no longer see the ground below me.
