Frost’s POV
I step out of my home in pack territory to investigate the growing noise outside. Things had become livelier around here recently. The attack from the orcs had brought tragedy but also a fire within the pack members. Warriors who hadn’t had a challenging fight in a long time were eager to increase their training so the next time they wouldn’t lose one of their own. The fight had also caused some of the younger members to want to start training. The late pack member’s mate, Penny, had found herself surrounded by those who understood her pain and had remained by her side since her mate’s death.
I spot Penny as she was excitedly led around by a young pup. It seemed the pups had taken to spending time with her as well to try and distract her from her loss. The pup’s mother Tiffany was following close behind and when the pup became to much would distract him.
It seemed part of the noise was due to the newest addition to the pack Selene that had quickly bonded with Samantha. Their visitors hadn’t stirred up as much excitement due to be a frequent guest. I had yet to meet the vampire that had the pack’s respect though that was because I’d been avoiding meeting him. My parents had gone back to the fae forest, father sharing my desire to avoid the vampire because of the known hostility between the Van Helsings and vampires.
However I couldn’t stay hidden anymore, I needed to stretch my legs and get fresh air. I also missed my mates. Levi was of course had more work with his right hand occupied with her recently formed bond. Sebastian had been helping out as much as he could so I hadn’t seen much of either. I glanced around carefully and seeing no sign of the vampire I decided to take my chances going to the pack house. I didn’t get far before I found my path blocked by a pale form.
The man was young in appearance, long blonde hair tied at the base of his neck, eyes the color of the ocean looking my way with a piercing stare, his rich colored clothing was clearly expensive and tailored to fit his slim body perfectly. He had a look that screamed both danger and elegance in a way that was both enchanting and terrifying.
“Lady Van Helsing I assume.”
I tense slightly at his greeting.
“I am, most call me Frost though.”
He took a step towards me causing me to worry if he intended to start a fight. He didn’t and instead took my hand in his to bring it to his lips.
“Nonsense, such an honorable hunter and powerful mage deserves to be addressed respectfully. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Lord Logan Blood. I have heard wonderful things about you.”
When he released my hand I found myself stunned, Samantha was right about him being a gentlemen. I never thought I’d meet such a being.
“It’s an honor to meet you Lord Blood.”
He offered me a charming smile as he offered me his arm.
“Please, call me Logan. I’d love to get to know you Lady Van Helsing.”
I accept the arm offered to me and walked with the vampire. I notice some looking our way and many of them smiling. Maybe they were happy we were getting along.
“Lady Van Helsing, Alpha Levi has told me that you are his and Sir Sebastian’s mate. I am pleased my friend has found such a lovely and worthy mate. I remember the state he was in after his soulmate passed away. Anyone who can bring him happiness is one I would be honored to call friend.”
“Oh…um I’d be happy to be your friend. Samantha mentioned you’re the only good vampire she’s met. How long have you and Levi known each other?”
Logan thought for a moment making me think it’s been a long time if he couldn’t remember.
“I cannot recall at the moment. It has been for quite some time though. I must admit, I never imagined my dear friend would be willing to share a mate with anyone. You must be very special. May I ask what you are? I know the Van Helsing bloodline has mixed with wolves but you my dear are no wolf.”
I freeze with my eyes locked onto his. He was just curious; his words weren’t meant as an insult. Still, my mind went to my days of my youth when I wished I was a wolf.
“I am a dragon.” I finally answer as I look away.
“I meant no offense Lady Van Helsing. I know you bear your family’s name with as much pride as those of their blood. I have only had the pleasure of meeting one of your kind though it was many years ago.”
My eyes widened at this news, he’s meet another dragon?
“Who was the dragon you met?” I ask unable to stop myself, I thought dragons didn’t leave their own kingdom. I know my brother did only to search for me.
Once again Logan had to think about it, it made me wonder how old he truly was. Samantha said he was one of the old ones.
“I believe her name was Hannah, the ruler of the dragon’s kingdom at the time. She was a true beauty, you remind me of her actually.” He said while reaching out to take some of my hair in his hands. “Would you happen to be of the royal bloodline?”
I nod, unable to voice the truth of my bloodline. I still found it difficult to accept I was actually a princess.
“It is wonderful to meet another of Lady Hannah’s bloodline. Alpha Levi knows he can call upon me any time should he need my aid. I wish to extend to you that as well, should you ever need me you are free to call on me.”
I give him a confused look.
“We have only just met and you would offer this to me?”
His smile was as friendly and charming as before.
“I am a very old being Lady Van Helsing, one of the first families of the vampiric people. I have come to possess the ability to recognize good people in a short amount of time. You my dear are a good person that I would be honored to aid if I am able. Alpha Levi has brought his concerns to me regarding the threats these lands face. I have already arranged for some of my own to remain here. That witch he mentioned as caused concern within my own magical circle of trusted servants. Such a creature cannot be allowed to remain among the living.”
“You have mages that serve under you?”
He gave a small chuckle as we continued to roam aimlessly.
“I have many allies my dear, among them is some of the most powerful mages to grace these lands. Though none have yet to reach the level as the late Lady Mana.”
At the mention of the one who gave her life for mine he turns to me with a knowing look.
“I am happy that she found peace. I know her long life had caused her pain. You are a true treasure and I have no doubt that Lady Mana saw it.”
“I wasn’t even hatched yet; she could not know this.” I argue.
“Even so, Lady Mana was a powerful mage and she had a way of knowing things. Now I believe I shall go return to my servants, no doubt they will come looking for me soon. I thank you Lady Van Helsing for giving me this time with you. I hope to see you again soon.”
