Chapter Twenty-Four

682 Words
The moment I stepped out of the hospital, I noticed someone about to walk away. I smirked. From his back view, I could really tell who it was. That clean cut. That brown hair; that height and his broad shoulders. I couldn’t possibly be mistaken. “Hey!” He froze and I laughed running towards him. I stared at him not turning to face me. My eyes dropped and ran in front of him. His eyes met mine and he faked a smile. Tss. I chuckled. “What were you doing here, Min?” I asked crossing my arms. “Uh. . . You know, Uhm. . .” his eyes started wandering around which made it more obvious that he was trying to find a realistic alibi. “Walk in the park?” I raised a brow. I looked around and all I could see was the usual Newcrest. Buildings of stores and people dined out the shop. “Park? Hm. Is,” I paused and pointing at the buildings. He looked like he regretted everything he said. “—this your type of park?” I asked teasingly. “Y-Yeah. Of course! It’s what I call, uhm. . . many-buildings-park-that-you-can’t-even-see-the real-park.” I frowned. “Cool right? Ha-ha.” I let out a pathetic chuckle. I crossed my arms and stared at him in disbelief. “Woah. I really need to go. It’s nice bumping into you here, Jean. See y—” “Can’t you lie better?” I whispered to myself and pulled his arms with a wide smile. “You’re as bad at lying as me.” “Hey!” he exclaimed and followed anyway. I smiled and ignored him. I gripped his arms and pulled him all the way to my favorite teashop. I stopped pulling him and turned to him. “What’s this about? Didn’t I tell you I had something to do?” “This is just for today, Armin Zeiger. It’s either you come with me and spend a day with me or you walk away and do that ‘IMPORTANT’ thing you need to do.” I crossed my arms. He was silent. “I realized we haven’t done this since my life became so tangled. You always treated me back then. I just missed those days. I missed hanging out with you – my best friend. I missed us.” He chuckled. “You don’t need to say cheesy things for me to say yes, Julia. You know this, handsome, cool best friend of yours will always say yes to you.” I smirked. “Even if you court me, I’d say yes.” He wiggled his brows. I slapped his arms. “Ew. Geez, Min. Can’t your mind at least be conservative?” I shivered in creep. “What? You think I’m not a boyfriend material?” I laughed. “Of course not. You’d slay girls.” “Hey. Since when did this attitude of yours turned out like this? Were you like this all this time?” I smiled and stared at his face. “Let’s go.” I grabbed his hand and gripped it tight. If I was going to die, I wouldn’t be able to hold you like this anymore, Min. “Hey. Are you okay?” he asked and I loosen my grip and smiled. “Yes.” I bit my cheeks inside. I wanted to cry and tell him that I’m so scared. Somehow, biting my cheeks helped me prevent my tears from falling. I wanted to – that – but crying in front of him would hint him something unusual, to top that, he always gets the hint perfectly. “Let’s go then.” That’s right. Let’s make the best of your life, Ji Yoon. You need to die happily.
