Chapter Nineteen

I was so guilty of speaking with Armin like that. It didn’t felt right at all. Dang. He really is my best friend (even if I don’t really get why I grew fond with him). We were walking towards our favorite smoothie shop and sat across each other. I cleared my throat as he tapped his fingers along the table. I looked at him and he was looking out the window. Ysabelle. I pressed my lips together before opening my whole mouth to speak. “Min?” He turned to me with a questioning look. I gulped hard. How should I start this? “About. . .” I paused. I want to help Ysabelle. That’s right. “Let’s put it this way.” I sighed and settled myself. He chuckled. “What are you talking about?” I nervously ran my fingers around the edges of the cup of my smoothie. “What if. . .” I looked up and met his brown cat eyes. “Uh. . .” I cleared my throat and brought my hands down to my lap. “What if someone secretly likes you?” Silence. He frowned and a smirk formed in his lips. “Pathetic.” He laughed and sipped his smoothie. I pouted. “Seriously. What if someone secretly likes you?” He placed his smoothie back down to the table and looked at me. I patiently waited for his reply, heart beating fast. Maybe he liked Ysabelle secretly too? Who knows. “Well she should just stay hidden.” My heart dropped. “WHAT?! How can that be your reaction?! No way!” He raised a brow. “You’re asking for my answer, I gave it to you and now you want me to change something I answered whole-heartedly?” “You really want her to stay hidden?” I leaned closer to him in disbelief; eyes wide open, jaws dropped down. He nodded. “WHY?!”   He just shrugged and it made me angrier. “What do you mean you don’t know?!” I stood clapping my palms with the table. Then a woman with a red beanie turned to me whispering. I licked my lower lip in embarrassment of what just happened and slowly brought myself back to my seat. I turned back to Armin who was laughing. “Perhaps—” I paused and came to conclusion that maybe he, “—do you like someone right now?” I stared at him for an answer and he focused his attention to me. No way.
