I knew it. She wouldn’t listen to me no matter how hard I try. She just won’t listen to anything I say. If I tell Aunt Sue, would she listen to her? I sighed and stared at the board full of equations I didn’t catch.
After the class, I stood grabbing my bag and stepped out of the room unconsciously with Will. I couldn’t think straight. I felt like I was missing something a best friend should do. This is far too complicated.
“Hey.”
I turned and saw him looking at me.
“You okay, man? You’ve been off recently. Something happened between, Julia and you?” he asked and I sighed deeper.
I shook my head and forced a smile. “Nothing big. I’m sure she’ll surrender herself anytime soon.”
He smirked. “Still not confessing, huh?”
“Cut it out, man.” I slapped him in the chest and he crouched back with a slight chuckle. He scoffed. “That’s not it.”
“Okay. Okay. Whatever.” He laughed.
“Armin!”
I turned and saw a girl running towards our direction. I frowned. Belle? I sighed and looked down when she was nearly approaching me. “Hey. Uhm, can I talk to you?” she asked and I turned to William.
He nodded and started to step backward. “I’ll go ahead. Looks like it’s something urgent. I’ll see you in the club, man.”
I nodded and he sprinted away.
I turned my attention back to the girl in front of me. “So, I was thinking of teaming up with you for our English presentation next week? That is – if you’re still available? I mean, it’s fine you know.”
“I’m okay with that.” I smiled and she blushed.
“Really? Wow. Thanks.”
I smiled wider and she raked her hair to the back of her ear. “Let’s talk later. After club classes.”
She nodded. “Okay!” She looked down biting her lips and looked at me. “I-I’ll see you around, Armin. Bye.”
I just watch her walk away and slowly fading from my sight. I immediately sighed and started walking as well.
That afternoon, I reached the club house and saw the same faces I see every day doing their own things. Jared was facing his laptop as usual. The others were probably in the studio. I sighed dropping myself in the sofa inside the conference room. What to do?
“What do you think you’re doing?” I quickly sat up hearing the president’s voice. I looked at him in terror. “Don’t you have something to do? I did assign you to do something, Armin.” He added.
I stood. “Yeah. About that— I was going to do it when you called my attention.” I smiled and started walking out. Just when I turned the knob to exit the room, my eyes met those whom I loved the most.
I stared at her frozen in her place.
“I-I. . . uh. . .”
I smirked and pulled her away from the door for me to go out of the room. I dragged her away enough for anyone not to see us.
“Look, I’m really sorry for acting that way a while back. I wasn’t in the right mind. So sorry.” She said in a really low, soft voice and I chuckled messing her hair like I always do before. She frowned and turned to me.
“I know you’d miss my beautiful face soo—.”
“Seriously?!”
I laughed and she started stomping her feet away from me.
“I got my allowance!” I yelled and she stopped turning to me with the look of wanting to be treated. “What about we drop by Smoothies before you go home? Hm?” I asked and she smiled widely running back to me.
“Really? Yes!” she clapped her hands together. I laughed again. “Treat face.” I whispered.
“WHAT?”
I smiled and shook my head. “Nothing!” I chuckled and started walking back to the conference room to finish what was told by Mr. President. I guess nothing can really break the friendship we had. It felt nice.
