Chapter 6

Third person's POV No one said anything as they had been arguing since they got into their room. Damon held onto the vanity table in frustration, wishing he could toss it away in anger. "Why did father agree to take in someone like her as his mate?" Damon asked. "He should have rejected her. Now we would have to tolerate everything her daughter does, every mistake she makes without scolding her?" He spat. "Father isn't the moon goddess, Damon, and you know he can't reject his fated Luna. So you have to stop crying over spilled milk, we don't have any choice but to accept what has happened." Adonis reasoned while Atlas scoffed. He wasn't in support of their union but it wasn't his business. Yes, he was just the son of the Alpha and even the next Alpha in line. But he didn't have the right to interfere or disagree with his father's decision. They had lost their mother three years ago to poisoning after she gave birth to them as they were told, so they didn't have a mother figure to raise them properly. They only remembered their mother's image through pictures that were taken before her death. He remembered his father telling them about how much he loved her, and how he never expected to lose her. But that was their life, it could be taken at anytime. "You're not saying anything, Atlas. I'm not surprised though, it's because you're happy to have your mate around even though you rejected her." Damon sneered while Atlas glared at him intensely. "I'm not saying anything because I don't know what to say. Father has made his decision so we have to accept it. If Harper's presence will make you uncomfortable then avoid her," Atlas said with folded arms that showed how taut his muscles were. He had taken off his shirt, revealing his broad chest. He loved being shirtless when he was in his room. Since he was an introvert, most people didn't know how he looked. "I can't imagine having breakfast and dinner with that low-class clumsy bastard who doesn't know her father. She could have teamed up with the Epsilon to make this happen, to mock us," Damon said bitterly. Adonis was doing everything possible to hold back his laughter. He felt that Damon was being childish so everything he said amused him. But he knew that laughing at Damon would result in a fight and knowing how psychopathic his brother was, he would make sure he left severe injuries on him. Lunch could be eaten alone, that was why he didn't include it while he was ranting. Their father had made it a rule for them to eat together for breakfast and dinner even when didn't want to leave their rooms. He said it made them united but they still couldn't see the truth in it. They all kept quiet again when they heard her pass by with a maid. They could feel how happy she was to have a room as wide and beautiful as theirs. Damon snickered and wished he could throw her out of the building. "See, she has even come to take her room," Damon said pointing at the door. "Don't blame her for that. You heard when father asked her to come back so the maid could take her to her room. The earlier you accept that she's one of us, the better for you." Adonis exhaled and shut his eyes like he had said more than necessary. He wasn't much of a talker, that was why he didn't bully Harper because he loved to be on his own and hated injustice. "That's her business. But what are we going to do about our attraction to her now that she is our step-sister?" Atlas asked and they all stared at him knowing that he was right. It wasn't easy to reject her at the mating ceremony, but they allowed their hatred to overcome their sense of reasoning so that she could leave the pack. They didn't expect the turnout of events so they were confused about how to deal with the issue. "We'll just ignore her, that's all. And when I'm horny, I'll find a beautiful woman downtown that will help ease off." Adonis said, fiddling with his finger. "I agree with you. We'll act like she's invisible until she gets frustrated and leaves." Damon said with a smirk. "You both are so childish. Sleeping around would never fill the void that Harper has created. She's our mate no matter what so we need to think of something reasonable," Atlas reminded them, dashing their hopes at the same time. Just then they heard a slight noise at the door and paused their discussion. "Did you hear that?" Adonis asked staring at the door. "I thought I was the only one," Damon said and made a move to get the door but Adonis held his arm and stopped him. "I will take it from here," He said and walked noiselessly then yanked the door open causing Harper to miss her footing and she landed on the floor with a loud thud. "As clumsy as always," Adonis muttered under his breath. "What are you doing here? Have you been listening to our conversation" Atlas asked while she stood up and dusted her dress. "No…No." She stuttered. "I was passing by when I thought of talking to you guys but I realized that you were busy, so I…" She was interrupted by Damon. "Save it. You just committed two crimes; trying to eavesdrop on us, because that is what you did though you're denying it. Secondly, you wanted to talk to us? What makes you think that you are now, a part of us?" Damon asked, irritated. "I didn't eavesdrop on you," She denied. "I just wanted to talk to you since we are now family, but it seems like you're all having a hard time accepting me," Harper said, sticking out her tongue to mock them. "You see what she's doing? It's because she knows that we can't do anything to her," Damon cried causing Harper’s eyes brows to raise in question. Atlas walked towards her with his right thumb placed in the pocket of his jeans. He fixed his gaze on her while she batted her lashes and gawked at his chest which surprisingly looked more attractive that evening. "Harper!" He called sharply to get her attention that was taken away by his bare chest. "Huh?" She replied. "There's something I want you to keep in mind," He said, keeping his tone as low and calm as possible. Apart from Adonis who hated talking unnecessarily, Atlas was the only one who could pull off that tone. Damon preferred yelling because he felt that talking calmly would make him look weak. "What is that?" Harper asked, sitting on his armchair that felt so soft to Damon's dismay. If Atlas was irritated by her action, he didn't say anything. "You are not a part of us and can never be one of us. Your mother was mated to the Alpha by mistake and even if he accepts her, we cannot accept you," Atlas said. Harper's eyes became misty but she kept her head high, not allowing Atlas's mean words to get to her. "I don't care if you accept me, but you would treat me like a normal person. You know what your father will do when he discovers that your maltreating his daughter," She said, exuding confidence that they all thought she didn't have. Adonis was about to say something when a maid came to inform them that dinner was ready. It was their first dinner together so they had to behave themselves or they would incur the wrath of their father. Just like Adonis, his father hated injustice and did his best to curb it amongst the pack members. So they did their best to hide their mischief from him or he would punish them if he found out. Harper left the room first, so that she could follow the maid's direction since she didn't know where the dining room was located. The triplets followed suit after waiting for Atlas to put on his shirt. The dining room was decorated with beautiful flowers and ribbons to their amazement. Harper stared at the orderliness of the maids and servants who arranged the table. The workers who served the king directly were different and since she was hated among the omega, their chief servant never allowed her to serve the king. They took their seats and placed an apron on their legs, showing that they were ready for dinner. Rosa sat beside the king beaming with smiles as the king told her some things that other people could hear. The Alpha's family weren't the only ones invited for dinner, the Epsilon was also around together with the members of the ruling class. "It's an honor to have you all here, dining with me. And I'll also use this opportunity to introduce my mate, your Luna, and my stepdaughter formally." He said and they stood up. "Your mate or your new mistress. She'll still sleep around just like she did before," Damon said nonchalantly while the Alpha stared at him in horror. Rosa didn't expect such embarrassment so she ran out of the room in tears.
