Chapter 4: Breaking Up

I called Roman, informing him of the situation, and he advised me on what to say; he wouldn't let Kyan hate me, but my deal with him would be over once he had smoothed things over. He was on thin ice with Lily and didn't want to jeopardize his mating, so I understand; I had lost Kyan the moment I called out his father's name. I was stupid and always careful, but I slipped up, and it would cost me my family; I showered and changed, sitting in my son's room waiting for Kyan to return. I had a bag packed, and I waited; he was going to end things with me because he hated having his father involved in anything, but Roman was embedded in everything he did. I had fallen asleep and was woken up to Kyan touching my forehead, moving my hair out of my face, and looking defeated; he nodded for me to follow him.

We went back to our room, and he saw my bags packed; he had the ring box on the bed, and my heart broke. He said, "I was going to ask you to marry me, but you found your mate and kept it from me," and I looked at him, shocked. It dawned on me that Roman told him I had found my mate and got caught up in the bond, having s*x with him; I was lost for words, listening to Kyan telling me what his father had said. The doorbell rang, as I nodded, confirming that the pup wasn't his, and said, "I will get the door," while he decided to bring my bags down; I was nervous and thought about telling Kyan the truth. There was a strange man at the door that I had never seen, and he said, "I'm here, babe," and I looked confused when he handed me a note saying, "I'm your mate, the king hired me." I quickly crumpled it up, placing it in my pocket, when Kyan growled, and I looked at him, folding his fists in anger, and my fake mate, Roman, held my hand and said, "Back off; she chose me." I felt so disgusted seeing the hurt on Kyan's face; I wanted to run to him and tell him everything, but it would make things worse for him, and his father would have me killed. I got into the car and headed to an apartment not far from the palace, and saw King Roman waiting for us.

He said, "Now that your cover is blown, I want you to f**k and mark him tonight; this can never get out, or you will never see Ian again." I wanted to protest, but I felt Roman's aura and knelt submitting to him; I agreed, and he said, "Now get to it, I haven't all night." I got up and turned to head to the bedroom when he stopped us and said, "No, do it here, I need to make sure there aren't any more surprises," and I froze, not wanting to do this. Roman walked up to me as my fake mate backed off, and he grabbed me by the throat, squeezing it and said, "You are a w***e, an audience shouldn't stop you from performing." I nodded, feeling my tears on my cheek; I walked over to the couch while Roman sat down with a scotch in his hand. My fake mate took his clothes off, while I spread my legs, closing my eyes, and thought about my son and Kyan.

I felt my fake mate enter me with one hard thrust, and I inhaled, not expecting him to be so rough; I looked at Roman's evil smirk as he unzipped his pants and pulled his d**k out, stroking it. I watched from a distance as Kyan dove into more work to keep himself busy because of me. Announcing our breakup was hard for the pack, but our privacy was respected. I was no longer in King Roman's bed; I had served my purpose and was paid handsomely for my services, and I put the money in a trust for Ian, unknown to Kyan.

I would usually call my mother to see how she's doing because she and my dad had separated, and Sophie was still not talking to them. It's been weeks since Kelsie and I broke up, and it still pains me; I wish she hadn't lied about meeting her mate and being pregnant with his pup, but I understand and let her go. I heard a noise and turned to see Jenny still asleep; I smiled, hearing the rumbling of thunder outside, and looked out the glass door and saw that the storm had picked up. It was unusual to have such weather at this time of year, but it happened suddenly, and we took precautions. Fallon mind-linked me, "Hey, everyone is safe in pack houses, and most of our territory is prepared for flooding." I smiled and said, "Good, what about Rumeria; did she make it to your place on time?" He didn't answer at first and said, "She is safe, Ky, we will have the wedding in a few days."

I sighed and said, "You don't have to go through with the wedding, you know," and he smiled and said, "I know, Ky, but it's for our pack and the best interest of both packs." I closed the link, feeling Jenny's hand go around me, kissing my back, I asked, "Can't you sleep?" She moaned and said, "It's cold, Alpha," and I turned around, knowing the storm would get worse, and got into bed with the she wolf, warming my bed. Early morning, I woke up; the rain had stopped, but it was still cold and dark, and I headed to the kitchen and saw Kyle making coffee. He handed me a book and said, "Read it, you might learn something, kid," before going through a portal. It was weird, and I rubbed my chest, feeling like something big was about to shift in Ravena; I decided to check out the damage and change into my wolf, meeting Folda, Fallon's wolf. We headed across the terrain to ensure our pack members were safe; we came to the river, which had risen to dangerous levels, and I looked up at the sun rising.

Fallon mind-linked me, "I think something big happened, can't you feel it?" I nodded my head in agreement, and we raced back to the pack house; our gamma waited with pants for us at the entrance, and he said, "Lady Rumeria is looking for you," and Fallon nodded before he raced off to meet up with his betrothed. I went back to my room, and Jenny was in the shower; I picked up my phone, and it was Kelsie asking me to take Ian tomorrow night because she had something planned. I smiled and told her, "I will pick him up after I finish work tomorrow," and I headed to the shower to get a morning workout with Jenny. After my morning workout, I picked up the book Kyle brought and headed to the office; it has the kingdom's crest on it. I opened the book and saw the names King Aidan, Beta Roman, Gamma Drax, and Delta Ty; I was shocked because I thought my father was always king, and I decided I needed to dig further about the men erased from history.
