Eight Years Later
Kyan
It's been years, and Fallon is still happily mated; he has another child with his mate, and I am happy for them; Rumie turned out to be a loving mate, and we are great friends. Bolivia lost contact with us; she has never mated but takes her job seriously, becoming a top executive at the company. The last thing I heard, she was dating some rich guy, but nothing more than that; I look at the invitation to attend the black and white ball held by the Valmore brothers. My parents were going to be there, and Issy told me she is getting engaged to one of the brothers. I have never met Tennison Valmore, but I will tonight; I wanted to meet the man who will be mating my sister. I reached the venue walking the red carpet; Jenny was with me because she was available to attend as my plus one, we weren't dating, just good friends.
Entering the building felt surreal; it was majestic, and the people were dressed elegantly, Jenny smiled and ran off to meet up with some friends she knew, and I waited to see if I would meet some interesting people tonight. I saw the first brother enter with his girlfriend; his name was Drake, followed by Tennison Valmore, the one my sister will marry. They felt familiar, but I blew it off and got a drink from a bar; moments later, my parents arrived, while Issy ran towards me, hugging me. My father walked over to me, and I wasn't feeling him tonight; we raised our glasses to each other when he asked, "When are you going to take a mate?" I said, "Not now, father," and he said, "Issy will be mated soon to Mr. Valmore; I suggest you find someone of status and beneficial to the kingdom since you will be king when I step down."
I asked, "When are you stepping down, father?" He said, "Not now, but soon," before he spotted the man of the night entering with his woman. His woman, Michelle, was a beautiful elf; she lived on pack land and no one disrespected her, and since the brothers moved here, they had been building popularity, but the Alpha, the older brother Ares, piqued my attention. He seems familiar, like Beta Drake and Gamma Tennison; I have read up on them through interviews they gave. They were raised on human territory and have quite a few businesses. This building would be the main headquarters with living quarters for them on the last four floors when they are in the city. After learning of Alpha Ares' engagement, I decided to explore the building, but decided to go to the roof for a smoke.
I was watching the city lights on the rooftop, wondering why my life was so f****d up; I missed Kelsie, my ex-girlfriend, and my son's mother. I wanted her to choose me when she found her mate, but her bond with her mate was too strong, and we broke up, and I wonder what would have happened if I had fought for her back then. Our 10-year-old son looks like me, and I adore him; he is my everything, and I hope I can find my mate before I take my father's throne. I was so deep in thought that I didn't realize I had company; it was Alpha Ares, and I felt his strong aura, but it was calming to me as if I had known him a long time. And in some weird way, I trusted him and wasn't scared. He walked over to look at the city lights and said, "It's beautiful up here, isn't it?" "Yes, it is, I've never been inside the Valmore Enterprises building, but it's beautiful," I replied.
I saw at the corner of my eyes that he was staring at me, and I smiled and said, "I'm not gay, but if you are into that and your Luna allows it, who am I to judge?" He laughed a hearty laugh and said, "I'm not gay, but if I were, you wouldn't be my type, kid." We talked a bit more about my life, and the topic of my mother came up; he seemed happy that she was my rock and so loving to me before he received a mind-link, which seems to have pissed him off. I felt his aura get stronger, but it didn't affect me much, and he turned to look at me and said, "Excuse me," before leaving. As I turned to finish my cigarette, my father appeared and asked, "What were you both talking about?" I smiled, saying, "You were listening in on our conversation, I see," and he looked like he had a rough night, but he kept his cool, not wanting to start an argument; then he asked, "How is Ian?"
One thing I was sure about was my father's love for my son; he adored Ian, and he said, "Kyan, I want you to be careful; things are in play with the Valmores; your sister's mating will make us a stronger kingdom." I smiled and said, "Another political marriage, as long as Issy agrees, I am happy, Father." He tapped my shoulder and left; I looked up at the sky, wondering if Roman was my real father, since reading up about King Aidan. I believed he was my biological father, but Mom never mentioned him, and I don't know how to bring up the topic. I remembered her asking to do a DNA test because her excuse was to keep it on file, but what if I wasn't Roman's son and I left to explore the building, feeling a pull to a differnt floor. I was exploring the building, being fascinated by the architecture, the fine details, and the paintings in some of the amazing corridors.
There was one of King Aidan long before my father's time, and I never really heard of him, but I was so drawn to that painting. I decided to head back to the ballroom when I picked up this vanilla scent; it was amazing, and my wolf said, "It's mate, find our mate." I was shocked and followed the scent to this huge office; it was Alpha Ares's office, and I was excited about finding my mate. As I got closer, I could hear slight moans, and I smelled another scent mixed in with my mate's; I couldn't believe it, so I pushed the door open, my wolf wanted to rip that Fae apart just for touching our mate. She was ours and was being f****d by another man; I was shocked and speechless. I was angry and disgusted, my wolf blocked me from his pain as I stood for a few seconds watching her getting f****d from behind over Alpha Ares's desk.
I rubbed my chest at one point; my legs wouldn't allow me to move, but the pain I felt had me wanting to kill both of them. They didn't even realize that I was there, as they were so caught up in their session, and when they finally realized that I was there, the recognition on her face dawned on her, and I turned around and left; I wanted nothing to do with that w***e. I decided to leave, notify my mother that I wasn't feeling well, but there seems to be some disruption. I walked in on Beta Drake getting shot, and I looked for Issy; the woman with Drake screamed in agony, holding his head in her lap as he bled out. I knew this meant war, killing a Beta on their territory, but I saw something differnt in Gamma Tennison's eyes as his veins blackened and told her, "Drake will be fine, give him time," as Ares shot a man in the head. They were powerful hybrids as the crowd gasped at Drake getting up and the bullet walked out of his head.

Aidan/Ares
I watched as my son left to go into the elevator; I told security to monitor him as I wasn't sure how much influence Roman had over him, although their relationship seemed strained. I received a mind-link that he was on the roof, and Michelle was on my arm with a glas of champagne, talking to one of the Lunas of one of our allied packs. I kissed her cheek and told her, "I will be back, love," and I felt Lily's eyes on me like daggers; I knew she was pissed, but she was mated. I went to the roof as my wolf wanted to see our son up close to feel that connection; I hesitated as I picked up his scent on the roof, and my wolf said, "I want to meet our pup." I said, "He is not a pup, he is almost a 1000-year-old man," and laughed at my wolf, who stated, "He is still my pup," before putting up his block.
I knew King was having a hard time finding out about Kyan and wanted so badly to get to know him; we missed out on raising him, and quite frankly, I don't know how he would take the truth that I was his father. When Lily told me, I was shocked, confused, and angry all rolled into one; I walked over to Kyan and said, "It's beautiful up here, isn't it?" I was shocked Roman never figured it out at first, until I learned from Kyle that once he found out, he had been spelling him for years, not even Lily knew that was what kept Kyan alive this long. Looking at him, admiring the man he had become, he is built like me, about the same height, but has Lily's eyes and facial structure. I was so caught up in staring at him, as my wolf wanted to reach out to his wolf, but I told him not to, and he retreated, but listened in on our conversation.
My wolf laughed, and so did Kiev, my vampire, at him, calling us gay, not that it mattered; I must admit Lily did a great job of raising our son, especially with my enemy. I received a mind-link from Elijah about a very special prisoner and a big surprise for Ty and Toffe. I told him, "After the ball, I will meet you at our secret holding cells," before closing the link; then another link came through from my acting Delta about a rogue attack, and I was instantly pissed off. I turned to Kyan and said, "Excuse me," before walking off, ready to kill someone; one thing I hate is attacks on my pack when I'm not around, and my vampire needs some playtime. I ended up in th main hall once again; I mind-linked Ty, and he told me, "I already know, brother, but Toffe handled it like a champ." I smiled because that kid got a lot of pent-up anger, over a thousand years' worth, and Roman was playing with fire again; then moments later, I heard the shot.
