Chapter 18

‘How long have I been here? I have to get out.’ He was looking at the bars. His hands were burned from trying to bend the bars enough to fit through. They were made of steel and covered with silver. His wolf strength could bend them no problem but, the silver zapped his strength as soon as he touched them. Thor was still weak from the injections of Silver and Wolfsbane. How can I get out of here? I am an alpha! He put his head in his hands. He felt hopeless. How can he be trapped in here? He stood up pacing along the walls. “Goddess, I have to get out of here!” He punched the wall, hard. The old cement cracked under his strength. He looked down as he felt the warm blood trickle down his knuckles. He heard a key click in the lock. The old door leading to his cell creaked open. He smelled her. But how? He knew she couldn’t be here. I must be going insane. Then he smelled it again, the unmistakable scent of chocolate and strawberries. No, he wasn’t imagining it. The guard smells like Sky! Oh, Goddess! They have her! They have Sky! Caleb roared in anger as he thought of her locked up in here. As the guard came closer, the scent got stronger. He felt the intoxicating feeling her scent gave him. Then he smelled it, mold. Mold, wet dirt, and blood? NO! What have they done to her? The guard opened the slot and slid his tray inside. Quick as lightning strikes, Caleb grabbed the guard’s hand, he let go as the familiar sparks creeped up his arm. Only his mate could cause those sparks. “Sky?” he stammered. “Sky is it really you?” He looked up at the guard and gasped as a pair of beautiful sapphire eyes stared back at him. “Yes my love, it’s me.” She let the tears fall down her face. She had found him. “How? How did you find me?” he asked still not sure it was real. “Where is the rest of the pack?” “Shhhh, I will explain it all later. I am supposed to bring you your food and then bring you to the pack doctor for a shot. The shot will, um, “wake you up” so she can mate with you.” “What! No! I am mated to you!” Caleb stammered. “I only want you.” “Shhhh, Baby I know. The food is poisoned. Don’t actually eat it. It is laced with tranquilizers to knock you out. I am supposed to get you on the gurney and take you down to the hospital. The second shot will make you think there is a female in heat. This way, she could mate with you. She knew with the tranquilizers that you would think it’s me. Caleb stared in disbelief. “Why would someone do this? To me? To anyone?” he couldn’t believe this could be happening. “Baby, I promise, I will explain it all later. Right now, we have to get you on a gurney so we can get you out of here.” “Sky, how did you get in here? Why hasn’t the pack come in yet?” “It’s just me. Nobody knows where we are. When I found out where you are, I ran here as fast as I could. I can’t explain anymore right now. The drug should have taken effect by now. The other guard will come check if we don’t go.” She pulled a key out of her cloak; she unlocked the door. As she stepped inside, a radio screeched severing the silence. “Bally! Where are you?” came a gruff voice. The voice which answered sent chills down his spine. Gone was Sky’s sweet voice and in its place was a strange mixture of Aria and Sky. It sounded almost evil and very screechy. “That’s my girl! Our mate is amazing!” Thor chirped from the back of Caleb’s mind. “Aria is helping deepen Sky’s voice while using some wolf howl to sound screechy. It’s amazing. I have never heard of any wolfs being able to balance their human and wolf sides enough to be able to function as one. It is impossible for most wolves. Not fully shifting but not being completely in human form either. Usually, one or the other takes over. Goddess do I love her.” Thor was oozing with pride. Caleb lay down on the gurney. Sky pulled the sheet up over his face. AS she wheeled him out of his cell, down the hall, and to the heavy door. A few moments later, a gruff male voice ordered her to stop. “Name and Rank.” “Bally, nurse assistant to Dr. Beastrom,” the strange voice of Sky and Aria answered. “Purpose and prisoner name.” “Caleb Mason, going to Dr. Beastrom, Alpha Scarlett’s orders. “You may continue,” the voice said. Sky began pushing him along the bumpy path again. Caleb was trying to stay calm and still, but he wanted nothing more than to attack all these wolves. “Almost there,” she whispered. He only heard her because of his wolf hearing. He heard automatic doors open and the sterile smell of a hospital wafted into his nostrils. A few more doors later, they came to a stop. He heard her walk over and close the door. She pulled the sheet off, “Ok babe, take your clothes off.” “Um, what?” he asked smirking. She rolled her eyes, “Take them off and put these on. She handed him clothes that stunk. There was a pair of black sweatpants and a cloak with a hood like hers. As he stood there naked, she began covering him with a disgusting mix of dirt, moldy stuff, and old blood. When she was done, he slipped on the clothes she had given him. She turned around and opened a closet door. In the closet stood a mannequin. She pulled it out and placed it on the gurney. She then stuffed his clothes around it. “They are not giving you your shots until pack chores are over. You will be lying in a room for a couple of hours by yourself. As long as you “smell” like you, nobody will bother to check. By that time, we will be away from here.” “Sky, how am I getting out of here without anyone noticing me?” She smiled as she reached over pulling his hood over his head. He nearly jumped as a mask covered his face. “Nobody will question you with that mask. It belongs to a mute wolf with a huge scar across his face. Scarlett’s mother said he was so ugly that he had to wear a mask whenever he left his room,” she explained it as if it was common knowledge. “He is Bally’s mate.” “Where are they now?” he asked. “Dead.” Caleb, stop asking questions, and let’s get out of here. They will know something’s wrong when I don’t show up for duties.” They checked the gurney one last time before leaving the same way they came.            “Bally! Why are you late?” a different male voice asked. “Oh, never mind, I see you have useless with you. You need to give up on him, reject him. Who cares if he is your mate, I can make you happier than he ever could.”            Caleb could barely contain his anger as this male spoke.            “Oh, Bruce, you know you are far too weak for me. Come on Terrance, let’s go.” Sky said in the strange voice.” Bruce watched as she sauntered away. Once they were far enough away, she pulled her radio from her cloak. “Bally and Terrance chores complete. Heading out for a run. Bally out.”            Another voice answered “10-4. Report by 5 a.m. for chore assignments.”            “10-4” Sky answered in the screechy voice. Putting the radio in her pocket again, she looked at Caleb. “Let’s go.”            He was in awe of what he had witnessed. His beautiful mate had just rescued him without anyone knowing what happened. She had found a way to mimic someone else’s voice. She had found a way to impersonate someone and have a pack believe she was that person. On top of that, she had figured out how to have them walk away together with nobody noticing.            “Caleb?” Sky’s voice interrupted his thoughts. “Is Thor strong enough to shift?”            “Now that Aria is here, yes. He can use some of her strength to help him.”            Once they were a distance away, they stripped off their clothes. He took in her naked body dirt and all as if it were the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. His eyes came to rest on a small bump protruding from her normally flat tummy. He looked deep into her eyes. “Sky? Are you pregnant? Are we having a pup?” His eyes scanned her face.            She could feel the blush rising up her face. She looked down at the ground as she sheepishly answered, “Yes, we are having a pup.” As she looked up at him, she noticed tears in her Alpha’s eyes. “Caleb are you mad?” she asked feeling her stomach begin to do flips.            “Mad? Of course not!” This time he looked stunned. “Baby Girl, I’m not mad, I’m happy! I love you so much. Having a pup with you is the greatest thing to happen to me.” He pulled her chin up with his thumb before crashing his lips on hers.            When she broke the kiss, he groaned, disappointed. “Babe, I would love to but right now, we have to go.” With that, she shifted revealing Aria.            Thor was practically screaming in his mind, “let me out!” he yelled. In a split second, Caleb’s huge majestic black wolf stood watching Aria. He walked over touching his nose to hers. He nuzzled her obviously excited.            “We have to go,’ Aria said through the mate’s link. She turned taking off in the direction of the pack territory.
