35 Preparations for the Next World Part 5

The golden-haired angel suddenly opened its eyes, revealing red brown irises. The sight looked a bit eerie as the angel didn’t make a move to attack Thaleos, but just unnervingly stared at him. Thaleos held his breath as he knew that if the angel does attack him, then he can offset Yrgritte’s enchantment spell. There’s a high chance that all the monsters would suddenly wake up. As the angel’s right hand, which had this blazing red sword attached to it, was slowly rising up, the beast tamer paused. It looked like the angel was getting used to the new range of motions, as he merely floated through the last millions of years. The other three members of The Igigu Revolution just stared at the nerve-racking scene in silent panic, as they know that they can’t tip of the balance in the scene. Thaleos quietly unsheathed his black katana and was ready to defend himself, if ever it came to it. When suddenly, the sounds of bells blasted around the area, surprising all of them except the monster parade. “Alright, time’s up! Stop!” Enki’s baritone voice echoed around the room. The beast tamer looked back at the angel and saw that it was back to its usual self. Its face returned back to this smiling look and it just continued floating like normal. Thaleos let out a sigh of relief, since he knew that this angel was probably hundreds, if not thousands, of levels above him. “That was absolutely the best! You absolutely came close! I wish I set the time to 45 minutes, just so I can see you and that angel fight to the death. That blasted Lucifer was a thorn in my path.” The god of wisdom complained and continued, “Speaking of, he was slightly similar to you, always spending a bit too much time on these things you call ‘moral dilemmas.’ Absolutely fascinating!” Enki rambled on in excitement. But when he noticed that his crowd just had this vengeful look on their faces, he just gave out a loud laugh. “Well, this isn’t much of a shocker, but you guys lost!” The baritone voice echoed across the scene, almost as if mocking them even more. “But!” The god interjected, “But you did get two unique blood souls, I have to give you that! So, for the prize, I’m bringing this old spinning roulette out, and it chooses for you. You either get those two unique soul bloods or a Grade A mythical weapon. Or you can choose between the two.” Enki cheerfully laid down his deal. Thaleos quickly ran towards where his team members were and started convening on what to choose “I think it would be wiser to get the weapon, doesn’t matter who wields it, as long as we can protect each other’s back.” Kedrick calmly explained his opinion, to which Ygritte nodded her head and added, “We’re also not quite sure what those two unique blood souls do, it might be a trap.” Haya contested her point with the question, “But he is the god of wisdom, right? Would he be playing pranks on the players?” Kedrick nodded his head but responded with his own piece, “But knowing Enki’s track record, he hasn’t been the best of friends. He probably has something up his sleeve.” Thaleos watched the three argue about which to take, he decided to ask Enki what the two unique blood souls can do, “Well, I can’t tell you out right because where’s the fun in that, right? I can tell you that it adds points to your skills, just like the regular blood souls, but with a twist. Now, whether that twist is good or bad is up to your judgment.” Enki playfully provoked, which made the beast tamer frown in irritation. This little annoyed gesture made the god laugh, as the action was quite refreshing for him. “So, what would it be?” The god of wisdom asked with a serious voice. Thaleos looked towards his team’s direction and as they nodded their heads, he understood their message. “We’ll take the spinning roulette.” Thaleos breathed out with a direct gaze at where the god’s voice was coming from — which happened to be at the moons. The god let out this disappointed sound and wept, “Boring! When I finally thought that you guys were interesting, again, you have managed to disappoint me, again.” Haya rolled his eyes at the whiny god’s tone. When asked one final time if that was really the beast tamer’s choice, the god finally gave up and rolled the spinning roulette. After a couple of turns, it stopped at the drawing of a black sword. “Fine, here’s your boring mythical sword.” Enki lamented, and then his presence immediately vanished. Suddenly, a majestic black sword appeared right before Thaleos. It had such an intricate and meticulously done hilt that fit so comfortably in the beast tamer’s hands. The blade itself had thin engravings and these engravements was what caught his breath — the whole night parade was intricately crafted on the whole blade. ~ ~ ~ They were all back to the Melam Military Base and Haya and Ygritte were in the Lagash Interpoint, since they were helping the young druid’s mother and brother move to the butcher shop. Similar to how they got in the cube, they merely jumped out of the scene that showed Mount Uruk’s waterfalls. Behind the majestic falls was the secret portal to the mini game. These portals were scattered all around Haine. After the continuous 3 days of just adventuring, the whole team decided to recover their strength and rested for 2 days. They just slept, ate great food, and lightly trained. By the third day, they were all strapped and ready to go again. They have decided to split up into two teams to cover more ground. As Thaleos explained, “I think it would be better to split into two to look for easier guilds to beat. Since they relatively have a higher level than some of the elite beasts, defeating them would level us up more.” The other three team members agreed and so the split was decided. Haya and Ygritte would go together to fight the small band of bandits that was recently terrorizing small farms around Ellis Town. They figured out this information by talking to the different store merchants around the Lagash interpoint. Kedrick and Thaleos were targeting a small group of low-level gangsters in the heart of Ellis Town. Since Kedrick knew the town’s gangster anatomy and families like the back of his hand, they determined that it would be smarter for the two of them to group up. Thaleos was planning to settle a score with them.   Nightmare # 122 July 25 12:01 MN  Punch after punch. Kick after kick. My whole body was aching in excruciating pain as it received fatal attacks left and right. “So, ready to tell us where your mommy’s keeping all the money?” A man filled with scars on his face gruffly asked. I was cornered by gangsters in one of Ellis town’s remote alley dumpsters. This wasn’t one of the dreams about gods or their games, this was my real-life nightmare. I was currently surrounded by one of Haine’s small time gangs. They were obsessed with finding my family’s ‘hidden treasures.’ I keep telling them that I don’t have access to it, but they still refused to believe me and kept beating me up. This happens twice or thrice a year, and I absolutely hated being part of this ‘old rich’ that didn’t mean jack s**t. “If you really want money, take my f*****g life, then. People get so f*****g twisted when it comes to traditions and inheritance, that it’s bat s**t crazy. You wouldn’t want this life.” I spluttered out. All five of them suddenly guffawed in laughter at my statement. “Aw, you a wittle sad because your grandma and momma don’t wuv you?” The scar-faced man mockingly said, and his facial expression suddenly shifted into a more serious one, “Tough luck, try being raped by old homeless men by the age of 5 and taking drugs by 10. It’s you who don’t know jack shit.” After that, they just continued beating up until realizing that they won’t get the information from me. I was left a bleeding mess.   ~ ~ ~ “That’s f****d up. The whole situation was f****d up.” Kedrick muttered after reading the journal entry. Thaleos nodded his head in deep agreement. The priest was currently sitting on one of the desk chairs and Thaleos was just standing against the door as he watched his friend flinch from the young man’s nightmare. “Granted, you’ve experienced bad things in life and they definitely deserve justice, I would fight tooth and nail just to get that for them. But their pain does not invalidate another person’s, regardless if they have ‘material wealth.” The beast tamer explained with a heavy heart as he could imagine the amount of pain everyone was going through right at that moment. They spent the next couple of minutes grieving the world’s pain. “f**k, this sucks. Now, that man’s a whole ass adult and completely knows what he does when he beats someone up to death.” Kedrick muttered in deep resentment, making Thaleos agree in anger. “Let’s go beat up those fuckers.”
