59 A Bloody Night to Remember

“If the gods weren’t on our side, we would’ve never have seen those flowers at all. Bro, I am telling you. They’re voting for us.” One gruff voice started as the whole group of four just exited the gymnasium. Thaleos wasn’t all that angry but mostly felt irritated at the notion of how people were well aware that those flowers weren’t earth plants; they were other worlds. So, they weren’t completely unaware of their choices. The gods offered basic guides to all the players, and they could check them every time they were unsure of something. In that guide, which basically appeared in the small blue dialogue box, there was an extensive and specific section on alchemy and medicinal herbs. Kedrick wrinkled his eyebrows as he heard the familiar boisterous laughter. He signaled to Thaleos that he would go first to approach the team. The beast tamer hesitated at first but eventually agreed to the umber man’s decision. “Brodrick, the man, is that you?” The priest cautiously started; his jaw was clenched a bit as he was terrified that these might really be his other gang members. “Kedrick, dude! Man, where the hell have you been?” From the shadows, a pale-skinned and muscular man appeared. His light blonde hair and blue eyes basically illuminated in the nighttime. “Anthony, Bill, and Reiko. Man, it’s been so long.” Kedrick muttered in excitement as he saw Brodrick’s other companions. All had different shades of skin; behind him were three other men but had the same dark-colored hair and grim looks. When they saw the familiar umber man, they immediately smiled and surrounded the priest. They were asking hundreds of questions. “I’m really sorry I had to leave you guys, but I hope the plans and strategies I left worked out for you.” Kedrick clutched on his neck in shame and asked the group of guys. When the apocalypse happened, their little subset gang group contacted Kedrick to ask for help. They weren’t super close, but Kedrick was their initial leader before gradually handing the leadership role to Brodrick. “Yeah, thanks for those tips! We’ve survived up until now because of you.” Reiko blurted out; this line made the blond-haired leader twitch in anger a bit. Brodrick always had this inferiority complex when facing Kedrick as he felt like his members appreciated the umber man more than him. “I’m sure my strategies were just part of the reason, mostly it’s because of you guys and Brodrick.” The other two members vehemently nodded their heads in agreement, while Reiko just looked down and avoided staring at anyone. Kedrick took this time to stare at Brodrick directly and asked, “Did you guys take the flowers?” Kedrick knew that this would probably ruin the reunion, but it was a serious matter. The smile on Brodrick’s face immediately disappeared as soon as he heard the word “flower.” It quickly turned into a hostile look from an expressionless look, as the two other members slowly clutched on their weapons. This was the signal Thaleos needed to come out from his hiding place. The others followed suit and started unsheathing their weapons—ready to attack just if the other group had any ideas. “We mean no harm; as long as you give us the flowers, then we can leave this place with no bloodshed whatsoever.” The beast tamer had his hands up as a sign of peace, but the hostile look never left the other group’s face. “Those flowers are ours. We found them fair and square. If they were really yours, can you prove it?” The blonde-haired man provoked. The two men knew of each other’s past but were never really close with one another. Kedrick shook his head because he knew that this was the bad side of Brodrick. The dude had a large ego and refused to lose in fights. Maybe that was one reason they survive throughout the whole game, but he knew that the leader was currently treading on dangerous waters as Thaleos hated any form of injustice. The beast tamer would’ve been okay just to let the flowers go, but he still owed back up plans for his whole team and even the Antum Gudea network to a certain extent. They weren’t the most important players, but they had the key to beat the game altogether. “If you check one of the petals of the navy-blue flower, it says ‘To Thaleos, From Gunura.” The beast tamer patiently muttered under his breath, but he could feel himself clenching his jaw. Brodrick seemed to be lost for a second, but he was irritated with the fact that the bearded man’s team was greedily keeping all these flowers for themselves. “What the f**k? Then let’s just split it. There’s like three of them. We’ll give you the navy-blue flower that has your name on it.” The blonde man haughtily said as the gangster in him came out—always wanting to get the upper hand in each deal, even going to the extent of extorting another person to get the best thing. “This will be my last warning, Brodrick. Give me those flowers.” This was the first time everyone heard Thaleos speak in a dangerously low voice. Ygritte could feel shivers going down her spine as she could see the anger in Thaleos’ deep-set eyes. Suddenly, Reiko spoke out in a panicky tone, “Brodrick, give him the flowers. We’ve hoarded more than enough. Please, I don’t want to see blood anymore.” Although the Asian man had a big built, he looked like one of those pure and innocent young men. The pale-skinned man usually had this neutral and expressionless look, similar to Abheek, but still had this hidden childlike wonder. Anthony and Bill shouted at Reiko to shut up, and the whole statement further angered Brodrick. He quickly went to where Reiko was and quickly punched him in the face. “f*****g shut up. We’ve been over these thousands of times, Reiko. This is a survival game; we did those people a favor by killing them quickly. They were going to die anyway, either it is by our hands or a monster’s.” The blonde-haired man crudely mentioned with a sly face. Kedrick felt his heart beating fast in fury and confusion. He taught their group never to kill innocent people, but Reiko’s sentence seemed like that was their strategy. The umber man looked at the beast tamer and saw the rage gradually making its appearance in the man’s body language—twitching jaw, furrowed eyebrows, and clenched hand. “Well, their bodies did serve their purpose.” When Brodrick barked that out with a laugh, everyone in the vicinity just stared at his silence. The tension in the location was so thick that one could feel the boiling anger that the Igigu Team was feeling. The blonde-haired man just grinned and leered, “What, we were all in a gang once, don’t like your f*****g angels. Remember that kid you killed, Thal? If his body weren’t rotting in hell right now, you’d be dead in a ditch somewhere.” This was the line that triggered the beast tamer to quickly unsheathe his sword and launch an attack on the blonde-haired leader. Everyone quickly took out their weapons and started attacking each other. Thaleos couldn’t hold back the rage and kept striking at Brodrick with his black katana. The other man was having difficulty keeping up with the beast tamer’s attack since his attacks were filled with anger and force. The man was unrelentless as he kept slashing and hacking as hard as he could. This was the first time the man felt this level of pure blood lust, no potions, and nothing. He was ready to decapitate the man and straight out, just gutter the man. The other four people handled the other three men in the gang. Reiko was looking at Kedrick and said, “I don’t want to fight against you, f**k this group. I’m just living. It isn’t even worth it.” Just as the pale-skinned man was about to leave, Kedrick called him and said, “If you’re not going to fight for them, do you want to try fighting for us instead?” The neutral look on the man’s face disappeared, and he started fighting alongside the Igigu Team. Since they had higher levels compared to the gang team, the fight left much to desire. But what was different with this fight was how feral Thaleos look. If looks could kill, Thaleos would be a serial killer right now. When Anthony grabbed Reiko’s collar, the other man immediately thrashed around and shouted all his anger at his team. “This is what you f*****g get for killing all those families, torturing those old people, and raping all those women. f**k you three, f**k you for forcing me to watch. I f*****g hate you all. The gods won’t punish you, but we will.” The man was basically tearing up while saying those words. It seems like he was looking back at those god-awful memories. As soon as Thaleos heard this. Everyone else in the vicinity, there was this deadly silence that followed. The beast tamer felt like there was a certain ringing in his ears. Ygritte and Natalia were the first ones to move as they immediately stabbed Anthony and Bill. Ygritte rarely used swords or daggers because she thought that they were too violent and bloody, but at this moment, she was eager to see the men drown in their own blood. She wanted to see them suffer and beg for mercy just to be met with more slices on their groin areas. This hit too close to home, and she just wanted to see them beg for mercy. Without saying anything, the bearded man, who was grinding his teeth and clenching his jaw, summoned his two wolf-eagles. Haya and Kedrick spotted the incoherent look in the beast tamer’s eyes as he ordered his beasts to rip the blonde-haired man into shreds. Just a few inches away from death, the beast tamer commanded them to stop. From there, he activated his Mental Whipping Skill and used it on Brodrick. From there, he made sure that the man was stuck in his worst nightmare. The man was twitching and convulsing outside, but inside his dream, his lower body was being dipped into the lava. Aside from that, the spirits of the women he raped were flying around him and cutting different parts of his body. They were gouging out his eyes, pulling out his nails, and cutting his tongue. All the man felt was excruciating pain. Everyone in the group thought that that was more than enough of a punishment for the man, but Thaleos had other thoughts. The man slowly cut off his limbs and inserted a whole sword into his mouth straight into the other man’s intestines. Thaleos didn’t feel like himself as he enjoyed hearing the other man's painful cries and seeing the man choking on his own blood. At that moment, the beast tamer looked like the devil himself. There was no mercy in his eyes, just the gradual twitch of the irises that showed his enjoyment. Everyone broke out in a cold sweat as the man looked like a completely different person. After the other man stopped moving, that was the only time the look of bloodlust disappeared from Thaleos’ eyes. The beast tamer felt like he just woke up from a nightmare. He felt like his soul separated from his body. He felt like he was watching someone else make the heartless and violent attack on Brodrick. “I’m- I don’t know what happened, I…” The man couldn’t continue as he felt a lone tear streaming down his face.
