25 The Disagreeable Agreement

1503 Words
On the other side of the beach, Igor and Kedrick were doing their best to quietly knock out some of the guards patrolling around the obscure areas of the beach. “f**k, there’s too many of them. We need to do this in a quicker manner.” Kedrick said as they took out the fifteenth guard they came across with. Igor nodded his head in agreement and shared his plan, “Since the guards are looking for the sources of the moaning sounds, we can throw some of these sleeping bombs their way.” The lackey took out an item that looked similar to a smoke bomb. Kedrick enthusiastically agreed and took three sleeping smoke bombs. After a couple of minutes, the guards finally found one of the most obviously placed speakers and attempted to turn it off. Since the guards were gathered around the rock they were hiding behind earlier, Kedrick proceeded to swiftly throw the bomb towards their direction. Sailing through the sky, the bomb was already releasing some smoke, as soon as it hit the head of one of the guards, they all collapsed subsequently. “Damn, that s**t is strong, what’s in there?” Kedrick asked as he saw how all the guards were sleeping atop each other. “Oh, my alchemy skill’s kinda high, so I used some of the siren’s scales and mixed it with nightshade, happy to say that it produced one of the strongest sleeping powders I know.” Igor said as he took out from his utility bag tiny vials filled with purple powder. Igor further explained how the drug was effective for about four hours straight, giving them plenty of time to get out of the island in one piece. Kedrick was impressed with the crafty man’s capabilities and was sure that they could take over Manny. As they went through almost all of the security team, Kedrick suddenly pointed out how Thaleos and Haya haven’t contacted them yet. “This is weird, they should be contacting us right now to return back to the motorboat.” Kedrick started, to which Igor responded with, “Let’s try talking to them right now.” As they tried reaching out to them through the earpod, they only heard static noises from the other side.   ~ ~ ~   “f**k, I feel like I can’t breathe, I’m about to pass out.” Haya said as he felt like he was grasping through water to survive. He was spiraling down and felt tears streaming down his face as flashbacks of his mother’s death flooded his mind. “We need to get the f**k out of here, please.” He continued, Thaleos felt his heart breaking for the other man, as he knew how Haya’s claustrophobia got triggered by extreme cases. “I need you to be strong with this one, Haya. I need you to take deep breaths.” The bearded man said as he was planning to test out his theory. He needed everyone to calm down first. “Doing okay, Ulfrick?” He asked as the other man has been silent throughout the whole ordeal. After not hearing a response for a minute or two, he concluded that the man passed out. Illusionists seemed to be the weaknesses of Alphine Hunters. Thaleos decided to focus on Haya for now. “Follow my breathing pattern, okay?” He gently relayed to the younger man, once Haya responded with a verbal mhm, Thaleos started counting his breaths. “First, inhale. 1, 2, 3, okay, now, exhale, 1, 2.” They did this a couple of more times until Haya finally calmed down. Out of nowhere, a deep voice bellowed, “So, planning to kill me, huh? Sad to say, you guys weren’t the first to try.” Muson sounded disappointed and tired. “I don’t understand why everyone’s planning to kill me, I’m trying to save us from these gods. I’m your only key to man’s survival.” The CEO ranted in an irritated tone. Thaleos gnashed his teeth in anger and said, “f**k your narcissistic thoughts. Your inventions were never about saving the world, they’re about saving the rich. They’re about you looking for ways to earn more shekels.” The beast tamer gritted out in rage. “I created futuristic cars and spaceships. The world needs me!” Muson responded in a fuming tone and closed his eyes for to enable his illusion spell. After a split second, the beast tamer felt like all the bones in his body was being cracked. The excruciating pain made him shout in agony. Haya felt like he was panicking again and activated his berserker mode. As soon as the berserker thrashed around, the illusion seemed to lose its stronghold as the pitch darkness started shifting back to the office. This was the exact distraction that Thaleos needed that prompted him to head into his duel space. After going inside the void, he immediately called out Attila the Hen. The disruption of flow between time and mind, pushed the beast tamer out of the illusion. He saw how the three of them were still in the same hiding positions, but Muson Telk was just standing near the door’s threshold. Attila the Hen immediately activated its metal talons and comb and marched towards the CEO’s direction. “Wait, please! Let’s make a deal!” Muson said in a frantic tone as he quickly knelt on his knees. Ulfrick woke up to the scene of Thaleos standing before the CEO, with his chicken, and Haya readying his crossbow from the vent. “What are you waiting for? f*****g kill the man!” This was the first time Ulfrick raised his voice. He was desperate to finish the mission since he wanted to ensure his family’s safety. “No, please! Listen to me! We can beat Manny together.” The beast tamer just stared at him in distrust, but didn't do anything else. The CEO took this as a go-signal to say his proposal, but before he could even say his first word, Ulfrick immediately butted in, “Thaleos, we don’t have the time for this! The guards are probably approaching his office as we speak. We need to kill him and escape.” Thaleos agreed on the Alphine Hunter’s point and told the CEO in a threatening manner, “Tell your guards that everything’s okay. Say something else and you’d be dead before you know it.” Muson frantically nodded his head in agreement and proceeded walking to his bedroom door. Thaleos hid in the side and readied his dagger. As soon as Muson opened the door, the Chief Guard spoke, “Sir, is everything alright? The headguards have stopped the disturbances on our end. Headguard Smithers reported that the beach has gone silent again.” The CEO didn’t speak for a couple of seconds, but as Thaleos signaled with his dagger, Muson anxiously continued, “Ah yes, great job! All clear on my end, proceed with your daily rounds in the missus’ room.” After giving the order, The Chief Guard just nodded his head in understanding and continued walking down the corridor.   Once hearing the footsteps fade away, the beast tamer motioned Muson to go back to the office. Waiting for them were Haya and Ulfrick—who were both comfortably seating on the couch, and Attila the Hen waiting by the door. “Okay, out with it, what’s your deal?” The bearded man prompted in a domineering tone. The CEO quickly started talking, “We can team up to destroy Manny and take over the Purple Mansion, we can just…” After the man finished proposing his plans, the trio just stared at him and moved towards his direction.   ~ ~ ~ “Great job! Finally, God knows that this world needs less of those annoying pricks.” Manny said while rolling his eyes in exasperation. Haya felt one of his nerves twitched in anger, but he forced himself to not retort about the man’s hypocrisy. “Tell me again how you guys killed him? Pretty please. I love hearing about his suffering. Make the details more gruesome than before, Ulfrick.” The middle-aged man said as he placed his left hand on his bulging belly. He was currently eating this medium-rare stake on a fancy decorated table, the whole scene looked extremely out of place considering that they were in the dirty, abandoned shack. “As we’ve mentioned before, Sir, Thaleos first held unto him and proceeded to slightly cut his neck—not too hard, just enough to keep him alive feeling the excruciating pain. After that Haya placed some fire sprite ashes on his eyes and I gutted him straight on. Thaleos’ beast stabbed him, as well, using its sharp metal talons. It took him 15 minutes before completely dying off.” Ulfrick explained Seeing how everyone looked glum and disturbed, Manny was extremely happy with the results. In a world with chaotic gods instead of governments, Manny was having the time of his life. He hated the system to the core and wanted to mess it up as much as he could—especially after Haine bombed his home country. Being forced to become an immigrant, in a country that hated his people made Manny sick to the stomach. He laughed in deep merriment as Muson Telk was finally killed—he was one of the suppliers of armory and army vehicles of the Haine government. “Alright, since you did such a great job with this one, I’m only requiring you to kill three others more, instead of four. Have fun!” The middle-aged man ordered as he tightly clutched unto the locket near his heart.
