The meeting III

Valentine did not realize how much he had missed Camille until that very moment; she had let her hair down today probably because she was tired from work. He just stood there looking at her and she stood there looking at him too, she moved towards him but stopped just few feet from where he was. She was looking at the ground now and not at him, her voice was a slight whisper now “How nice of you to grace this alley with your glorious presence, your majesty” she sounded weak but the sarcasm in her statement was still very obvious. “I am so angry with you right now, but at the same time I have missed you more than I have ever missed anyone in my life. I can’t look at you because I know I would instantly not care about why you disappeared and only want to kiss you.” Valentine stood there looking at her when he noticed a single tear flow down her cheek and he hated it instantly. He took two long steps and then gently brought her into him for an embrace. He just hugged her and they stayed that way for few minutes, he had been confused and angry about something but at that moment he had totally forgotten and all he wanted to do was tell her what he knew he shouldn’t be telling her. “Cammie, I love you,” He paused and took in a deep breath before he continued “I absolutely love you and that is not right, there is still so much you don’t know about me and I won’t want you to say you love me too till you know all those things.” “I thought you had left the country and I would never get to see you again,” she said now laughing lightly “I had no way to contact you, I don’t know anything about your family and I don’t even know your actual name. I was beginning to feel foolish because I had not realized how much I loved you and knew nothing about you till you were already gone.” “My name is Valentine and I can promise to tell you everything about me from now on, all you need to do is ask. I am so sorry for being a ghost all these days, truth is that I thought about you every day. That’s why as soon as I got into town this evening I started looking for you, how do you think I found you here? He asked. “You were stalking me?” “That’s not how to properly say it, but yes.” he knew he was actually stalking “You can beat me up as well if it makes you feel any better.” He said and with that she was laughing again. They had been locked in a warm hug this whole time and he could feel her laugh into his chest, he liked how it felt and knew he wanted her in his life. She stepped out of the embrace now and they stood there holding hands “What took you so long?” she asked. “I got informed by someone I trust that I could be in danger because someone with a grudge against my family seemed to be trying to track me. I saw my sister in New York first and sent her and the rest of our mini gang to my house here in Augusta. I used the remaining days to fly to more than 10 different states in the country. I had to make sure no one would be tracing me to Maine anytime soon.” “Your family must be way more interesting and wealthy than I expected,” she said smiling “but don’t ever do that to me again” she added before she tip toed slightly and pecked him gently on the cheek. She was a petite lady but her height was quite average, the man was just really tall. He drew her closer to him again and stared into her blue eyes for some seconds. He was smiling weakly at her “I am very sure I am in love with you Camille Everheart.” He said and then pecked her on the fore head. The blood had rushed to her cheeks now, it was dark but he could see everything. She was shy and just deflated it “Stop being cheesy, my mom is making spaghetti today and I think you should come over before you decide to travel again. They should know why I’ve been so irritable this past week” She was laughing hard, and her teasing him meant she was okay now. He was sure he never wanted to see her cry again. “Does this mean there was never any signed document prohibiting anyone other than Alistair from taking you home all this while?” he asked feigning surprise. Camille kicked him on the shin and was heading out of the alley and unto the street in no time before she called out to him from over her shoulder. “I go anywhere with whomever I choose, so take me home before I decide to stop being in love with you and being so honest about it.” She said, he laughed and ran to her at normal human speed then held her hands and interlocked their fingers as they walked towards the café where his car was parked. They looked like any normal couple out on a stroll and holding hands. They both liked it. They got to where his car was parked and Camille couldn’t help but say something when she noticed it was a different car “You must be have been really spoilt and pampered as a kid, u just left town for a few days and you came back with a new car.” She didn’t sound any bit surprised though. She was beginning to understand that there were no boundaries with him. She got into the passenger’s seat and he turned the ignition on then gave the engine a slow purr. “I love good cars and good food, and it’s not being extravagant or materialistic. Royalty should always look and feel like royalty and sometimes that involves spending a lot of money, it isn’t a waste if it’s for comfort.” He said with a shrug of his shoulders then engaged the gear and was on the road in an instant. She placed her hand on his as it stayed on the gear stick so he turned to look at her, “Hey, I think my mom is going to really like you. She makes the best spaghetti so you’ll like her too. My dad would be harder to please though,” she said with genuine laughter “just be you and everything will go perfectly fine.” She squeezed his hand just to make it less of a weird experience for him, meeting someone’s parents was never the easier of first meetings. They had gotten to the house and drove in through the opened gate. It was a beautiful home indeed, he had a feeling she was wealthier than she normally claimed to be. They got out of the car in total silence and then when they noticed how quiet they were, they both began to laugh uncontrollably like little kids. They understood each other so much at that point and didn’t need to verbally communicate to understand what the other was thinking He took her hand as they walked towards the house and he whispered in her ear “Your parents would probably adopt me after today, there is nothing not to like here. I am a complete package Cammie you’ll see that soon enough.” She said nothing as she opened the door and led him to the parlor. As soon as Camille had offered Valentine a seat she called out in her usual calm demeanor. “Hey Mom, We have a visitor and he really loves spaghetti. I brought him over when I remembered you were cooking some today, come and say hi I think you’ll really like him!” Her mother Vanessa Everheart replied from the kitchen “Must be the handsome, mysterious young man I’ve heard so much about.” She took off her apron and walked to the parlor to meet her guest who was currently backing her and staring at a picture of Camille and her mother that was hung on the wall. She began introducing herself “Hello there, I am…” and at that point Valentine was turning to face her now. Immediately she saw his face she became pale instantly and began coughing violently, even after all this years she recognized that face at first sight.
