Chapter Ten

Odessas POV The last thing I remember was hearing the music to the ending credits on the movie Sampson and I were watching. Being snuggled up against him just put me at such ease. His body heat relaxed my muscles and his arm around me made me feel the safest I'd ever been. I let the darkness close in around me and I welcomed my dreams. I was standing in Sampson's living room. Everything seemed to shine brighter and I almost thought it was day time. I looked down and could see Sampson sleeping on the couch. His hair was falling over his handsome face so I knelt down and pushed it aside. "Handsome isn't he?" I heard a woman ask. I whipped around to see a woman about Sampson age. She had short black hair that framed her hair perfectly. She had amazing tan skin with the palest blue eyes. Normally I should feel scared that some random woman appeared in the living room, yet I didn't. "Yeah he is" I said giving her a confused smile. "Do I know you?" I asked her feeling drawn to her. "Not yet" She said giving me a small smile. The woman stepped back a little and turned into a giant black wolf. "Well this is an interesting dream" I said watching the black wolf walk out of the back door. It stopped and turned it's head towards me. "You want me to follow?" I asked. The wolf let out a huff that I'm assuming meant yes so I trailed after it. We walked past a large fountain and into the trees. Finally the wolf stopped at what seemed to be a small cemetery. The wolf slowly walked bowing it's head slightly to each headstone we passed by. We reached the last headstone and I knelt down to look at it. "Is this what you wanted to show me?" I asked turning my head towards the wolf. "Uh hello?" I asked looking around but the wolf was gone. I looked back to the stone and saw the woman from earlier but she looked different now. Now her entire front was covered in blood and there were giant puncture marks on both sides of her neck. Again this was the stuff of nightmares but I still didn't feel afraid. If anything I felt complete sadness. I looked at her and saw her eyes were filled with tears. "Take care of him for me" The woman said as a tear slipped down her cheek. "Who?" I asked her reaching up to wipe it away. "Help him get revenge" She said before she completely disappeared. I looked back at the headstone so utterly confused "Skye Sterling" I muttered the name. I let out a big yawn suddenly unable to continue standing. I laid my head down on my arms and curled into a ball and fell back asleep. I woke up a little bit again to the feeling of incredible warmth. I was still so exhausted and could barely keep my eyes open. I was able to tell that Sampson was carrying me though. "I'll help you" I said before letting sleep claim me once again. I woke up with a start feeling my heart pounding rapidly. I looked around and I was in a room I didn't recognize. My head snapped side to side taking in my surroundings. "Sampson?" I asked. "Yeah?" I heard his sleepy voice ask beside me. I turned to look at him and my mouth dropped. We were laying on what I assumed was his bed. The sheets hung low on his hips so I was able to see his toned chest and abs. Oh I could lick him up like a damn ice cream cone. I thought I heard a little growl coming from Sampson but he was just coughing. I shook my head trying to clear my thoughts a little. "How did we end up here?" I asked scratching my head. "Well you must have slept walk or something because" He started to explain until I pulled a leaf out of my hair. "So it wasn't a  dream?" I asked more to myself. "What wasn't a dream?" Sampson asked sitting up next to me. "We were sleeping and there was a woman in the living room" I said and explained everything that happened. "Odessa listen to me carefully. What did the woman look like?" Sampson asked. I had to admit I was a little hurt that he was so focused on this woman. "Oh um she had short black hair and blue eyes. Then out of no where she transformed into a big black wolf" I said. I watched his face carefully, watched the many emotions that crossed his features. "Then when we got to the head stone she had a big wound on her neck" I finished. By the time I was done Sampson looked close to tears as he let out of a huff of a breath. "Who is she?" I asked him taking his hand. He gave it a little squeeze and wiped at his eyes. "She was my wife" He said. Of course he had been married. That would explain why they shared a last name. "What happened?" I asked hesitantly. I didn't want him to share if he wasn't comfortable explaining. "We were attacked and she was killed in the process" Sampson said. "Oh I'm so sorry" I said placing a hand on his shoulder. "Thank you but it was a long time ago" He said. "Still" I said. Just then my phone started ringing. I looked to see it was my mother...and I also saw the time. "s**t! f**k!" I swore and picked up my phone. "Where the hell are you Dessa?!" Mom screamed through the phone. "I'm sorry I'll be right home" I explained and jumped up from Sampson bed. "I'm so sorry but I have to get home" I said. Sampson seemed to realize the time as well and nodded his head. "I understand. Call me or text me" He said. I rushed over and gave him as long of a kiss as I could. By the time I pulled into my driveway the sun was starting to rise. I put my car in park and shut it off as I saw my mother standing on the porch. If it were possible I'd think there were steam coming out of her ears. I got out of the car and made my way over to her. Once I was close enough to her I expected her to yell or scream. Instead I let a tight grip on my arm and was immediately pulled against her. Her arms wrapped around me and I felt wet drops on my shoulder. "I was worried sick about you" Mom whispered as she pet my hair. "I'm sorry" I said wrapping my arms around her. "Come on" She said after a while. "Let's go talk" Mom said and ushered me into the house.
