ADRIANA'S POV
After saying those things, the whole hall went quiet. She had expected it. Her family's reaction was rather priceless and something she would relish in the future if ever she would feel down.
The guests continued to whisper to each other while her family was shocked as they looked at her. As though they couldn't believe that she just said it.
Nobody in the room is the real Roseinhart except her. Her mother carried the name and since her mother has a higher title, her father was the one who changed his last name. Her grandma is not her real grandma and was just her mother's guest in the family. Legally speaking, she has every right to mandate the family as she's a real Roseinhart.
She could see on the look on their faces how they did not expect this to happen. For her father and her grandma, this matter had not been mentioned for more than 20 years, and they had even forgotten it themselves! They exploited the Roseinhart's kindness and used it against them before shutting the doors in front of her and her mother. It was easy for them. After all, before she disappeared three years ago, she did not have the courage to go against them. But now, she's not going to be a spineless coward anymore. She will take back what is rightfully hers.
Julian frowned as well. She could not read what's going on in his head but she was delighted to see their reaction.
Julian suddenly looked troubled. Adriana is guessing he didn't know much about the Roseinhart family and how these opportunistic bastards used her name to gain for themselves.
Maeve Roseinhart was well-behaved and obedient, a man marrying an illegitimate child would seriously cause damage to their reputation. It wouldn't have been a problem if she didn't show up. But now that she's here, they would be threatened. And Julian will hesitate about the marriage. The Terranova family will pull out. Maeve and the rest of her family would be kicked out.
A grin formed on her lips. She does not intend to miss anyone. She will make sure that those who betrayed her and her mother will get to taste their own medicine.
"This is nonsense," muttered Julian, truly troubled by what Adriana just declared.
"Julian, we have been engaged since we were young, and I thought you were a gentleman. someone I could entrust my life to. I had affection and expectations for you, but how could you have this secret affair with another woman?" She walked closer to her and willed her face to a face of cruelty.
"I shall not tolerate any deception. You blatantly had an affair with her while we were still together, hadn't you? Before I went missing you two were already meeting behind my back and none in this family even said anything to me. Not that I care about it now. I mean, you two can go marry each other and I won't give a flying f**k. What I ask is for you to give me the token."
Adriana knew this would happen. She knew that Maeve would get pregnant and she was right. And being pregnant, she's more sensitive to emotions. Triggering her may be heartless but it was nothing compared to what they did to her. Triggering both Maeve and Julian seemed like a wise choice. They will live their married life full of doubt. Maeve would continue to worry when Julian would leave her and marry Adriana instead. It would be like walking on thin ice. It would be a fitting revenge but she's not going to stop there.
"Adriana, you can't do this," Harris said, gritting his teeth. "What nonsense did you learn while you were abroad these years? As soon as you come back, you force the Terranova family to return the silver token. Do you understand how jewelry stores and pawnshops work?"
And her father's true colors have shown up. A greedy man who only cares about money and power. Adriana smiled.
"Father, as long as the Terranova family is willing to return the token, I don't care about anything else for now. And as for your question, yes, I know very well how jewelry stores and pawnshops work." Adriana didn't continue arguing, knowing she couldn't win with just a few words.
Today was just about planting some seeds and waiting for them to sprout and grow over time. Patience is definitely the key.
"The Terranova family will never covet things that don't belong to them! Adriana, do you want the silver token? I can give it back to you, but it will take some time to transfer the jewelry store and pawnshop," Julian said with a dark face, forced by the situation, trying to save face. Adriana could truly see the troubled expression on his face as if thinking fast about what should be done in a matter of seconds. But it's no use. It's not going to work on Adriana anymore.
Just at this moment, a sudden noise came from outside the door, followed by the butler's voice, "The Terranovas have arrived!"

THIRD PERSON'S POV
Julian's family came just in time to witness how she was going to stomp them down.
Terranova family? Could Reagan Terranova be with them? The iron-fisted devil?" whispered one of the guests. It was loud enough for her to hear.
"Shush, lower your voice. Dare to say that nickname directly, do you have a death wish?"
"My goodness, is it the young commander Reagan? I heard that Reagan had returned to Westfall from the border, but he never showed up. I thought it was false, but it turns out to be true, and... he even came to the Roseinhart house..."
"...However, the Roseinhart family seems to have close ties with both the Alpha family's young commanders, Reagan and Julian. That's really something. Let me tell you, I have inside information that he intends to hand over his position to Reagan."
"Is that true? Isn't Reagan just an illegitimate son? Can an illegitimate son take control without causing trouble?"
"What kind of trouble could there be? Young Commander Reagan is a true veteran from the battlefield, highly respected in the military, and able to suppress those warriors. How could he not manage the Aerilon pack well?"
"But I heard that Reagan has a cold personality and a bad temper..."
"What does that matter? In these troubled times, it's not a good temper that will bring peace and stability to our lives. In my opinion, the future of the Aerilon pack will eventually belong to Reagan..."
"But doesn't Julian also have political achievements? And after marrying the second daughter of the Roseinhart family, he will have both money and power, making him qualified as the Alpha...
"Indeed, the Alpha family is powerful and it costs a lot to maintain those warriors... So... When Young Marshal Reagan comes to the Roseinhart family, could he also be thinking about forming a marriage alliance with them?"
"Could he be trying to steal the person from Young Marshal Julian?"
"Young Marshal Reagan has warriors on his side; if he snatches the marriage away from Young Marshal Julian and gains the financial support of the Roseinhart family, he would be unbeatable..."
"But if that's the case, it's too much..."
Such discussions, even if spoken in a low voice, made their way into the ears of the Roseinhart family members and Julian. The Roseinhart family members were somewhat at a loss.
None of them had ever dealt with Young Marshal Reagan before! Adriana hadn't met Julian's older brother too.
While others might not know about the Alpha family's affairs, the Roseinhart family, who were about to become relatives with the Alpha family, knew a little bit about it - and there's only one position in the Alpha family. The Roseinhart family had placed their "treasure" on Young Marshal Julian, so naturally, they would not provoke Young Marshal Reagan.
Julian's face darkened abruptly. He lowered his eyelids, hiding the cold and viciousness within.
He had sent so many people to surround and kill Reagan, but they still hadn't succeeded.
That person had actually come here?
Was he here to demonstrate his power on purpose?
Or did he really come to steal his fiancée?
Adriana didn't have any particular feelings about this Young Marshal Reagan, but when she heard these discussions and saw Julian's face change, she became curious to meet Young Marshal Reagan. Who could this person be to cause this much tension? She couldn't help but get curious.
"Steward, go and greet Young Marshal Reagan."
Harris glanced at Julian from the corner of his eye and said so.
Although they didn't know what was going on, everyone said that the "Iron-fisted Devil" was not to be trifled with. Since he had arrived, the Roseinhart family couldn't offend him outright.
"Yes, sir," the steward hurriedly turned around,
But the people outside had already come in.
The first to enter were two rows of warriors carrying long spears, marching in with their boots neatly aligned, and standing on either side, leaving the middle empty. Then came warriors carrying guns and lifting boxes.
Seven large, tightly sealed boxes were brought in and placed on the empty ground.
Finally, Reagan entered with two Gammas.
He was dressed in a military uniform with a black cloak draped over it. Tall and imposing, he stood like an insurmountable mountain, exuding a powerful and indifferent aura!
Most of his face was covered by an exquisite black mask, his eyes were dark, deep, and shining, emitting a dangerous and icy light that made people fear him. His thin lips were tightly pursed, and the corners of his mouth were slightly hooked, with an ambiguous, seemingly smiling expression.
Adriana turned to see the iron-fisted devil and with just one glance at him, her heart leaped.
He knew the man very well.
It was the insufferable man she met on the boat!
