Prelude
"Thankyou doctor, thank you so much. This wouldn't be possible without you." her patient Siya said those words to her, with outmost gratitude and happiness evident in her voice.
"You really don't have to thank me, this is why I am here for Siya and I am happy for you. It's not just me it's you who put more efforts to come forward. Just remember one thing live the life you have and don't ruin it over your past, it really brings nothing than pain.'' She said with a warm smile plastered on her face looking at her patient who nodded her head fractionally.
" So that's with the final meet Miss. Siya Agrawal ! You are all free to break the rules and chase your dreams. All the best for your future !" she encouraged Siya, her patient the girl in her early 20's sitting before her.
" Thank you ! hope we meet soon Dr.Ezra." Siya said with a ting of hope evident in her voice.
Tho it was not a great thing to meet a psychiatrist again she really wished she could meet this women sitting before her again. Because she believed and it is truth too, that she, her doctor has a big hand in bringing back the old girl who she was. But at the same time she knew about the first few rules her Doctor set for her. The first few was for herself and the last was to not keep any personal contact with her doctor.
"tch. I hope not to see you again. We are not gonna meet again Siya. You are gonna take care of yourself and we'll not meet again. Remember the promise and the rules, right ?" Ezra questioned her patient with a calm smile taking a light breath after her words.
Siya nodes her head lightly, giving back the smile to her.
"I should leave then ?" She questioned hesitantly to Dr.Ezra, who noded her head positively, still having a faint smile.
It sometimes becomes hard to say a goodbye to people even tho it's a doctor. especially when it's a doctor who you opened your heart and let her treat the pain.
Siya stood off the chair she sat, and smiled at her doctor who was looking at her, for one last time and turned her heels walking towards the cabin door.
"Should I be sad or I be happy ?" Ezra questioned herself after she saw Siya walking out of her cabin. With a heavy sigh leaving her lips she closed her eye lids.
This is how her life is. she makes sure cure other people's pain , issues and life but let herself settle in the darkness of her darted past. Even being a psychiatrist herself she never had that ability to take off her own pain out of her small pure heart. All she did was lighten others life living herself in the darkness. All the time when she was having last session with her patients, she was happy at the same time something pained in her.
She was happy to them smile again , to see them happy and lively again. She was happy that she could atleast make others help in moving on , see them happy, when she herself couldn't. But at the same time she felt sad for herself, when she saw them leave. After sharing a good time with people, having to getting them know inside out getting connected to them and at the end to see them leaving. But not to forget the fact that, she's a doctor. It her profession.
Ezra's lips curved into a beautiful smile when she read the nameplate placed on the table before her, which read
"Dr.Ezra Abhishek Sen
Certified Clinical Psychiatrist "
The smile was not just because her name carried a doctor, it was much more because she saw her father's name beside. That made her more happy. It was one of the beautiful things, a thing she always admired. Getting to see her father's name behind her's made her feel so happy. Whenever she saw his name after her , all she knew was he always had her back. Be it anything , he has always been beside her holding her hand all his journey, behind her when she felt her spine crunch and before her as her guiding light when she needed.
Even before she could end her smile thinking about her hero, her father, she could see his name flash on her beeping mobile screen which only made her smile widen.
Getting her phone onto her palm she sliding the green icon moving her phone towards her ears pushing the loose hair behind her ears.
"hello papa" she cheepd like a small kid as her line connected to her father's. As soon as her voice rang the other side she could hear a soft hearty chuckle of her father from the other side.
"hello, my bacha. how's your day so far ?" he questioned from the other side in a sweet tone making her smile, she could even imagine her father's smile which he has right now.
"it's quite great papa !" she answered him in the same tone.
"So you are free now ?" her father questioned again making her frown. it's not how they usually have talks. question were less but here something seemed fishy.
" ya, I am free now." she answered him honestly. Her mind still wondering about her father's odd behaviour.
"great then !" with that the other line got disconnected in a blink making her look at her phone screen in confusion.
"what's that now ?" she questioned herself frowning at the screen and thinking of her father's odd act.
"whatever ! but why did he call me and just behaved like a teenage boy who got an opportunity to get to call his crush ? Father's too act odd at times. papa bhi !" she shook her head in disbelief a light chuckle leaving her lips and making a note to enquire her father about this once she gets back home, she slides down one of the file infront of her.
Before she could submit her eyes on the first bold letters of the file , the door of her big cabin room swung open wide, making her eyes shot at the direction.
Her eyes stayed flabbergasted when she saw , a man of late 50's standing stright in his grey coloured, three piece suit. His black hair greatly cladded with grey shade , his face had wrinkled a little but also he had a charming smile playing on his lips. His eyes admired the young girl infront of him with outmost love. She looked so stunned to see him, pricelessly her father there smiling at her right then.
"Papa ?" whispered Ezra, seeing her father stand there with a grin on his face now.
"yes !" he noded his head looking at her , entering her cabin, closing the door behind.
"what are you doing here ?" she questioned her dad, who by now took his seat comfortably on the sofa placed in the corner of the room.
"What ? I can't come visit my daughter also ?" Her father questioned her faking getting offended.
" I didn't say that !" Ezra said crossing her arms against her chest looking at him.
" haa. then what ? I am here to meet my daughter." he said smiling at her , and his smile bought a smile on her too. but before she could get fled by that she again frowned at him.
He used to come and meet her but not like this. There was something certainly wrong and fishy in his intention.
" so, what made my papa so desperate to see his daughter in the middle of working hours ? you thought I wouldn't come back home ?" she joked with a sought of taunt hinting his sudden appearance.
" uhm... no, why would I think you won't get back home ? I am just here... just to see you, that's it!" He smiled at her nervously seeing her look at him narrowing her beautiful calm brown eyes.
" really ? that's it ?" Ezra questioned not leaving her gaze off his eyes making him leave a sigh in defeat. He can't ! He never could. He never had lied to his wife or his daughter , that was his strength and his weakness too.
"okay, then let's not beat around the bush, alright ?" He questioned his daughter who was siting infront of him having a winning smile plastered on her lips. She knew him.
"hmm... well and fine." she stated looking at him and nodding her head.
" Look Ezra , your age is 26. Don't do you really think you should get settled in your personal life too ? I am not forcing you bacha but understand. It's not always professionalism and money that will be needed it is also a partner , a companion, a soulmate , a person for you, who is needed to be a part of your life."
"But papa..... " her words were cut inbetween by her father's voice that was coted with seriousness unlike before.
"See bacha, we are not saying to end up saying yes but give it a try. I know it's your past your gonna put up, but everyone has a past it's fine , it's totally fine having one . Just give it a try. please for us atleast ? we are growing older child , I am getting worried for you. It's not the world or society which is forcing us to ask you this, but our own heart. I want to see you in a safe and secure hands before I take my last breath. I want to see you live your life happily with a man who's for you." He said everything looking at her into her eyes. His eyes carried alot of emotions for his daughter. Which father wouldn't ? which father wouldn't want their child, to have a happy life , to live with all the love they deserve ?
Nonetheless other times, this time his words made a puddle in her heart as each of the word echoed in her. He was right , be had the right to ask too. after all he is her father , he did deserve to see her happy. And giving to the reality too , she can't just run away always. she had to face it , if not today some other day. But this time she was sure to face it , if it's now right now. She had to atleast give it a try that's what her mind and heart say.
"okay !" she spoke with a smile looking at her father who frowned at her hearing a plain okay from her.
" I mean , I am ready ! I too want to move on papa. I want a loving husband like you are to my mumma. and about what you said , why would you only want to see me in a deserving arms ? don't you want to have your grandchildren in your arms ?" she questioned her father with a beautiful smile and raised brows.
No words came out of Mr. Sen's mouth but his lips couldn't stop from curving into a smile before gasping for air listening his daughter words.
"Then I can expect you to meet someone today?" Abhishek, her father questioned her sounding not fully confident.
"ooh.. so everything was planned, huh?" she questioned her father narrowing her eyes.
a sheepish smile crept his lips before looking away from his daughter gaze. Ezra shook her head before tucking her hair back her ears and smiling.
"my last session for the day will be done by 5:30, I'll be home after that." she said nonchalantly glancing her schedule.
"okay then , I'll just inform them." her father grinned happily at her before getting up and standing stright.
"I'll take a leave then" he noded at her moving closer to her and kissing her forehead before he turned on his feet and marched towards the door.
Ezra had a smile seeing the old man walk past her, his body posture seemed calm and peaceful unlike the time he came.
A sigh left her mouth as she as she thought of the thing she just accepted. she just said Yes to meet a man that too for her marriage.
