She stayed quiet until we were through the worst of the traffic, but when it eased up outside Waltham she put her hand on my shoulder and asked, “Family troubles?” “Yeah. I guess I kind of came out to my parents last night. Dad was okay - not happy, but okay. Mom, though, she didn’t take it well at all. She wouldn’t even acknowledge what I said.
