Mirabella prepared herself for a fight. Even if she was going to die, she wouldn't make it that easy for the detective. But just as the detective was about to pounce, a loud noise was heard, distracting the detective. Mirabella spotted the chance to run and so did she. Detective leo looked around for the cause of the noise and found nothing. Hissing loudly in clear anger and frustration, he chased after mirabella. As mirabella ran through the streets, the shouts of the detective grew fainter. She stop as she got to the cliff, as there was no where else to. The detective appeared, his gun already drawn. "You fool," he spat. " You think you can outrun me?" Mirabella's eyes widened as the detective raised his gun. She tried to react, but it was too late. The detective pulled the trigger and mirabella felt a searing pain as everything turned black. Detective leo dragged Mirabella's body to the river and dumped it in there. He brought out his phone and quickly dialed Miller's number. "I have gotten rid of the girl." He reported immediately Miller picked the call. "I also got the video tape". "Meet me at my private residence." Miller responded and ended the call. Detective leo dragged his feet lazily, a sign that he was tired. Miller Harrison's private residence was in a secluded area. Outside of the residence seemed like a regular building but it was a big mansion inside. He decided to build his house that way to make the citizens think he was a man who didn't take pleasure in earthly things and was only concerned about the people's wellbeing. Detective leo finally got to the main door after passing through several doors and checks. He slowly pushed the door open and saw Miller Harrison seated, looking wicked as always. His expression was more cooler outside than when he was in his closet. "Getting rid of that girl took you forever to carry out." He said sarcastically as leo sat down on the cushion. "A very stubborn kid I must say" Leo added. "You've really done well. You didn't wait for my guys to get the job done. I hope you covered up your tracks". Miller asked. "Yes" Leo responded. "I didn't leave any trace behind. "Here is the video tape." He added stretching forth his hand to Miller who collected the video tape with a grin widely displayed on his face. "You will surely get the promotion. I already sent $50000 to your account." Leo smiled widely as he confirmed the payment. "Alright sir. I should be on my way.. really had a hetic day". Miller nodded watching leo leave his office. "Desperate fool" He muttered. As mirabella's body floated downstream, she was unconscious and near death. But fate had other plans. Sarah and mark Richmond, were out for a late night boat ride when they sighted mirabella body floating. As they approached mira's almost lifeless body floating on the water, Sarah's instincts kicked in as she noticed mirabella was already turning pale. "Mark, look!" She exclaimed. Mark quickly turned the boat to reach Mirabella. They pulled her aboard and assessed her condition. Mira was bleeding profusely from the gunshot wound, and her pulse was weak. Without hesitation, Mark and sarah administered basic first aid, stabilizing mira as much as possible. They knew they had to get her to a safe location for proper treatment. As they navigated the river back to their estate, Sarah couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. Once they got to their house, Mark and sarah rushed mira to their private medical facility. Their team of trusted medical professionals worked tirelessly to stabilize mirabella's condition. During the course of mirabella's treatment, Mark and sarah stood outside the medical room, patiently waiting for the doctor's report. Mira's eyes fluttered open, and she was met with an unfamiliar ceiling. She tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over her. A gentle voice spoke beside her. "Mira, dear, you're safe now. Just rest". Mirabella turned her head and a kind faced woman smiled at her. "Who.. Who are you? Mirabella asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Mirabella's mind was foggy, and she couldn't remember anything before this moment. She looked around the room trying to put together her past memories, but everything seemed foreign. She tried to speak, but her voice was hoarse. The woman handed her a glass of water. "Drink this, sweetie. You need to rest." As mirabella sipped the water, she noticed the luxurious surroundings.. The plush carpet, the elegant furniture, and the large windows with a view of a meticulously manicured garden. "Where am I?" Mira croaked " You're in a safe place," the woman replied. " my name is sarah Richmond. You're going to be living with us from now on." Sarah's expression was warm. " We'll take care of you. You will be part of our family now". Mirabella's gaze wandered around the room, taking in the opulent decorations. She spotted a few framed photos on the dresser.. Sarah, a man who looked almost similar and a young girl with piercing blue eyes. "Who are they??" She asked, her voice still weak. "That's my husband,Mark, and our daughter, Trisha. She's dead now tho". Sarah explained her expression turned somber. "I'm sorry to hear that." "No dear, You don't have to be. We lost our daughter years ago. We've been looking for a child to adopt, to bring joy into our lives. When we found you, we knew it was meant to be. You remind us so much of her." Sarah said cupping mira's cheeks. "Can we call you Trisha??" She asked with pleading eyes and mirabella hesitated before nodding. Mira's heart ached hearing her story. As the days passed, mirabella grew stronger. She met Mark, who was kind and welcoming. Her adopted parents treated her with love, care and enough pampering. They ensured she was enrolled back in school and she proofed to be an intelligent kid much to their delight. Her memories were still fragmented. Mark and sarah were worried but the doctor had earlier told them that, it was as a result of what happened to her and also assured them that she would eventually regain her memories.
