~Sebastian~
Sebastian sat back in his chair, his thoughts swirling as he waited for his date. Ever since he had met Elena, his mind had been in turmoil. It was almost laughable how his life had changed so abruptly. He had taken his father's advice to find a mate seriously, but he had never imagined finding his true mate would be so... complex. For ten long years, he had waited to feel that instinctual pull, that undeniable connection. But it had never come—until now.
The moon goddess seemed to have played a cruel trick on him. Most werewolves felt the impulse and drive for their mate at seventeen, coinciding with their first shift. But for Sebastian, that moment had never arrived. His father, the former alpha of the White Fang, had urged him to take a mate regardless of his feelings, but Sebastian had resisted. He believed the old saying: "Choose your partner wisely, for the wrong woman can bring you untold sorrow and strife."
Sebastian had grown wary of women and their intentions. Too many were drawn to his name, money, and power. They saw him as a means to an end. But Elena was different. When he mentioned his name, she didn't flinch or show any sign of being impressed by his status. She was genuine, and that intrigued him.
His mind drifted back to their first encounter. He was on his way to address a delicate matter at the hospital when he literally bumped into her. Elena was a vision—tall and curvaceous, with chocolate brown hair that cascaded over her shoulders and eyes that sparkled with life. Her smile could light up the world. From the moment they touched, from the moment they exchanged names, Sebastian felt drawn to her in a way he had never felt before.
"Sebastian, Sebastian, Sebastian!" His date's voice snapped him out of his reverie. He turned to face Lara Greenwood, Elena's sister.
Lara was attractive, no doubt, but comparing her to Elena felt like an insult. Why would the moon goddess mate him to a married woman? The thought frustrated him.
"Sebastian, I know I was late, and I'm sorry," Lara began with a bright smile, flashing the half-million-dollar earrings he had bought for her. "But I had to prepare for our first dinner date."
Sebastian couldn't help but wonder if Lara was like the other women he had cautioned himself against. Women who saw him as nothing more than a meal ticket. "Don't you think they look beautiful on me?" she asked, showing off the earrings.
"Next time we go shopping, I am definitely going to pick more things," she said excitedly, giggling as she looked over the menu.
"Don't you think you're spending too much, Lara?" he asked dryly.
"Well, you love me, and it's your duty to take care of me," she replied.
Sebastian's patience snapped. "No, I don't love you. That's the whole point of dating—to see if two people are compatible. It's not so you can spend my money simply because I'm a billionaire. Your mindset is irritating, and your attitude is even worse. You feel entitled to my money because you believe I love you."
Lara's face fell as she closed the menu. "You're saying you don't love me? Then why did you show me love and buy me everything I wanted in the mall?" she flared.
"I was being nice, but you took it too far. You're too self-entitled. I don't hate you, Lara, but I don't think this relationship can work out," Sebastian said, standing up and walking out of the restaurant, ignoring her calls.
Outside, Aaron, his trusted aide, greeted him with a smirk. "Did you have a nice date, Alpha Sebastian?" he jested.
Sebastian scoffed. "Not funny, Aaron." He entered the limo, inhaling deeply to calm himself.
"What's next on my schedule?" he asked.
Aaron, sitting beside him, produced a tablet. "There was an emergency while you were waiting. One of our warehouses was burnt to the ground. We lost seven warriors and five million dollars' worth of products."
The news hit Sebastian like a wrecking ball. "Who the f**k would attack my pack?" he growled, his eyes flashing dangerously.
"We haven't fully investigated, but it seems like it was the Crimson Fang. But that's only speculation. There's no reason for one of the five families to attack us," Aaron explained, showing Sebastian a notification on the tablet. It was a video from an unknown contact.
The video featured a masked figure, declaring war on Sebastian, accusing him of sleeping with his wife. "This is madness," Aaron muttered, shaking his head. "He declared war on one of the great families over this?"
Sebastian whispered to himself, "What does he mean by I stole his wife..." He quickly searched for 'Elena Greenwood' and discovered that she was indeed married to an influential man.
A smile crept onto his face. "Looks like the goddess wasn't punishing me after all."
Aaron looked confused. "What do you mean, Alpha?"
Sebastian's eyes glinted with determination. "Elena Greenwood is my true mate. And if the Crimson Fang thinks they can keep her from me, they're in for a rude awakening."
Aaron's eyes widened in realization. "So, what’s the plan?"
Sebastian's smile turned into a predatory grin. "We prepare. We protect our own. And we get ready for war. No one takes what's mine without facing the consequences."
As the limo drove off, Sebastian's thoughts were clear. He had found his true mate, and nothing would stand in his way. The Crimson Fang had declared war, and Sebastian Ashford was more than ready to fight back.
