Everything I ever wanted

I woke up with a headache from yesterday's music that I was listening to. I have to go get coffee to get rid of this headache downstairs. I tried to check my phone and I had a text message from my best friend Natalie, telling me I missed out on yesterday's party which I didn't really feel like going to. I put on my gown on top of my pajamas and put on my shoes and went to brush my teeth after I was done, I walked down the steps to the kitchen. My parents were talking more like whispering and when I entered they just stopped talking.  "Good morning Mom and Dad" I said checking the kettle, fortunately there was coffee inside. "Good morning baby", they both said looking at each other. I poured myself a cup of coffee but as I was about to leave the kitchen, I just realised that my parents are supposed to have left for work already.  "Mom and Dad, what are you guys still doing here?" I asked turning back to look at them. "It's our day off too today baby", Dad said giving me a smile. My parents are acting weird today, first they haven't said a single thing to me today and ever since I came into the kitchen they've been looking at each other with eyes I don't understand. I was eagerly waiting for them to say something because this was bothering me. I came out of the kitchen and walked slowly through the lounge to go up the stairs and I heard my Mom call me. "Maya", she said coming out of the kitchen, "we need to talk to you baby". I was so relieved to hear her say that. "You guys were starting to worry me a bit with this silence and awkwardness" I said sitting at the lounge. They both came out of the kitchen and my Mom sat besides me and my Dad on the other couch. "Baby we didn't know how to tell you this", she said holding my hand and looking at Dad. I looked at her with confused eyes.  "We did something that concerns you without asking for your opinion, and we thought it was the right thing to do", my Dad said looking at me with worried eyes. I was still confused because they're both not making any sense so I let them talk.  I had different emotions in my head, why are my parents talking like this? What did they do that concerns me? They've never really done anything without my permission if it concerns and they know that they have to consult with me before doing anything that has to do with me.  I tried to look at my Mom, she was expressionless, so I can't really say how she was feeling but when I looked at my Dad's face, he looked worried. Whatever this is, I don't think I'm ready to hear it, I told myself but I had no other choice I had to sit and listen to them. "Baby we have arranged something for you, something we don't know whether you might like or not, you remember your College friend Jonathan? Well his family came with a proposal and we accepte it without consulting you", my Dad said looking straight into my eyes. "His family was proposing that we get the both of you married", my Dad said still looking at me. I don't know what I was feeling, too many feelings were running wild, Jonathan was smart and brave and we didn't get that much along in College but they decide to throw this at me right now? Why would they agree to something so absurd? What got into my parents to agree to something like this? I felt dizzy and I tried sipping my coffee and I could feel the headache has gone away but what I'm facing right now is more than this headache I had earlier. My Mom was still holding my other hand and my Dad was looking at me with questioning eyes. I don't know how long I've been lost in my thoughts but I came back to earth when my Mom called me. "Maya please say something baby", she said with pleading eyes. I didn't know what to tell her, I became speechless of the bomb they just thrown at me and I really got bombed to be honest.
