Narrator's POV
"Are you sure you don't want anyone to help you find her?" Austin tapped Mr. Wilder's right shoulder once. His silence was more than enough for him to realize that the boss was determined to do this mission on his own. "Just call me when you need back up." He offered him.
"I will." He responded with a blank expression.
Austin Malore is Mr. Wilder's childhood friend. They were very close to each other until now, even though they didn't grow up together. At the age of sixteen, Austin was sent to England for his early training. He was the young master and the only heir of the Malore Family.
"Dude. I'm serious. Okay? Stop thinking as if you can do everything on your own. Remember you can always count on me." He winked at him, which made him let out a deep breath. He always sees an image of an older sister from Austin everytime he babbles.
"I'm leaving all the authority to you. Take good care of my unfinished transactions while I'm away." Those were the last words he uttered to him before he completely left the place.
It's been quite a while since the death of Mr. Clark, now Lucas, is on his way to find the said girl. He suddenly remembered the old days when he was still in a decent job, wherein he was out there, around the city, searching for a missing person, which was a part of his job as a good cop. A sudden frown started to paint on his whole face when a memory of his ex-wife began to flash in his mind.
Yes. Mr. Wilder married her partner, who is a detective, but they don't have a child. The said woman was already dead, while her body's whereabouts was still unknown. Briana Lockheart, that was her name. A twenty-five-year-old pretty woman who can make everyone fall for her because of her almost perfect definition, and believe it or not, she's the one who bumped into Lucas first.
Though the pain remained conquering his heart, the bitter smile started to form on his face as he remembered her sweetness.
Mr. Wilder took the necklace out of his pocket and was about to figure out whether he would be able to find a clue on it. After he finally knew that the said necklace was a photo locket pendant, he tried to open it, seeing two different photos of a woman he never knew.
"Who among these two ladies do you want me to look for Mr. Clark?" He wondered to himself.
He gives himself a minute to familiarize himself with their appearance, but then a woman wearing a plain black baseball cap steals it from his hand. He didn't waste a single second and tried chasing her right away. He has this kind of belief that, as a trained policeman, letting a criminal go means that you are not capable of your position. Mr. Wilder ran as fast as he could and was able to clutch the woman's left wrist. He couldn't believe that a woman could possibly run as fast as this lady thief could.
They were both catching their breath, while the woman tried to get his hand off of her.
"Do you really think you could get away from me? Give back my heart." He almost shouted to her.
She keeps on struggling to get away from him by forcefully pulling her arms. The intense situation caused her cap to fall and revealed her whole appearance. A pair of captivating hazelnut brown eyes, long-thick eyelashes and pink lips will surely make everyone turn their heads to her.
Mr. Wilder was dumbstruck to see the familiar face of the beautiful woman, though he couldn't remember well where and when he saw her before, he still couldn't stop staring at her while furrowing his brows, trying to remember her. Due to lack of attention by her captor, the woman managed to escape from him and succeeded in getting the necklace.
"Whoever you are, just wait, I'm going to find you." Mr. Wilder uttered in his mind.
On the other hand, Blythe couldn't help but to smile after she completely ran away from him. Though she was almost caught by a blank-faced man, she was still happy about her successful mission.
She isn't the type of person to easily get attracted to a man she has just met, but she couldn't take his picture out of her mind. His deep-set blue eyes, elegantly straight nose, nicely cut hair, not to mention his strong body, are some wonderful definitions of a man a woman couldn't resist. The lady shook her head to take the thought out of her mind and focused on her destination. She's on her way back to the village, but then what welcomes her isn't her people, but the messy place and complete chaos.
She couldn't utter a word, though she could feel her knees weakened. Her genuine concern towards her people is what pushed her to run around the place and search for her children. But no one was there, even Grey. Blythe's anxiety started to grow, which caused her to completely fall down. She's now sitting on the ground, tilting her head from side to side. She could see blood on some parts of their tents, which made her tears fall.
She could barely breathe but there was no one she could possibly cry about. The sound of her sobs was too loud, but no one was there to hear it. As she tried to catch her breath, the sound of the ringing phone drew her attention. She stood up and searched for it. Her feet took her to the front of her tent, then she picked up the dusty phone with her shaky hands and answered it.
There was silence the moment she put the phone into her left ear. After a few seconds, the deep husky voice of a man began to speak. "Do you want to get your people back?"
At first, she wasn't so sure how to respond, but the laugh she heard from the other line made her blood boil.
"Where did you take them? Don't you dare lay your finger on any single one of them or else I will kill you all!" She growled.
The man chuckled. "I admire your courage, lady, but sadly, you are not in the position to say that." The man said to her.
"F*ck you!" She responded with a loud voice. She was about to put the phone down but then she heard the familiar voice of a child.
"Princess." Lily weakly called her.
Her hands started to shake. "Lily? What happened? Where are you now? I'm going to save you kids, just wait for me! Hello? Lily, can you hear m--"
"So, are you going to make a deal with me now?" The unknown man interrupted. "I will give you time to think. You have until afternoon to make a call or else, you'll see nothing but their dead bodies."
Blythe didn't know what to do. Her people were taken away from her by unknown people and Grey is nowhere to be found. She knew that she didn't have much time to spend thinking about her final decision. That's why, after an hour of staring at the phone screen, she decided to ring the other line.
The other man answered right away and then Blythe started to ask. "What is your deal?"
