It Started with a Dare

Chapter 6

KAIZER'S POV

Today is my first day working at my father's company. Ako yung papalit sa position na iniwan nung isang employee na nag retire na.

After the meeting held by all the directors of each departments and the higher ups, we headed to the department I was assigned. I was assigned here out of the whim of my father, the President and CEO. Before I came here I made sure that I've finished those important things I have to at my own company. I understand why my father wants me to work with his company despite knowing that I have no interest on it. After so long of argument, I decided to do what he asks me to do. He said I can took a higher position but I declined. I'm not greedy at all to get someone's position.

Anyways, as I said, I am here now at the company. I am with my secretary and we're being accompanied by the previous director.

"Good afternoon team." Mr. Velasco greeted everyone as we entered the office. "As you may know, I am no longer the Director of this department starting today kasi medyo tumatanda na tayo. Haha." Dagdag nito.

"I want you all to meet the new assigned Director of this department, Mr. Kaizer Nathaniel Chua." Pagpapakilala nya sakin sa mga empleyado

"And also, this is Mr. Peter Santos, ang kanyang Secretary" pagpapakilala naman nito sa aking sekretarya

"Good afternoon everyone." Peter greeted them

Mr. Velasco introduced each of the employee who works in the department to us. The last one he introduced has a very familiar face. Kumunot ang noo ko dahil sa mukha ng babaeng nakatayo ngayon sa harapan ko at kasalukuyang pinapakilala ni Mr. Velasco. Hindi siguro ako nakikila ng dalaga dahil biglang nagtaas ang kilay at nakakunot ang noo nito.

"Mr. Chua, this is Ms. Shaira Miyuki Mendez, our Assistant Manager. You can count on her." Blah blah blah, Mr. Velasco said

"Good afternoon Sir." Pagbati ng dalaga sa kanila at binati naman ito pabalik ni Peter.

"Mr. Chua, let's head to your office." Sabi ulit ni Mr. Velasco kaya pumasok na kami sa loob ng opisinang gagamitin ko.

Nakalabas na si Mr. Velasco ng office kaya kaming dalawa na lang ni Peter ang naiwan dito ngayon.

Peter is my friend, he's the son of our former family driver kaya naging magkaibigan kami dahil madalas syang nandun sa bahay namin.

"Bakit nakakunot pa din ang noo mo Kai?" Tanong sa kanya ni Peter

"Nothing." I answered

"Mukhang marami rami tayong gagawin dito ngayon, maraming naiwan si Mr. Velasco and buti na lang wala na masyado sa kompanya mo" anito

"Hmm"

"Anyway, what's your first impression about your new office?" Tanong ulit nito

"Fine but I like my own office more" maikli kong sagot

"Pansin ko kay Ms. Mendez ka lang napakunot ng noo, kilala mo?" Ulit nito

"No but I think I've met her before." sagot ko dito

"Oh, small world. Saan mo naman sya na meet?" Usisa pa nito

"Somewhere I guess" sagot ko sa kanya

Natapos na itong magtanong kaya lumabas na ito. Malapit na din maguwian at may kailangan daw syang hingin na files sa manager kaya hinayaan ko na lang.

Yeah I know her. Who would've forget the face of that woman after what she did that night. Small world it is. Hindi ko akalain na dito ko pala sya makikita ulit. Sabi ko sa aking sarili

Simula nung gabing yun hindi na nawala sa kanyang isipan ang nangyari noong gabing yun at ang mukha ng dalagang humalik sa kanya. Kapag nagkikita sila ng mga kaibigan nya ay lagi sya nitong binibiro ng tungkol sa nangyari at hinahanap sa kanya ang dalaga.

Natatandaan nya pa na nagpakilala itong Yuki noon. Napailing na lang sya sa kanyang naalala.

She looks more beautiful and natural with her light make up while wearing formal suit. Noong gabing iyon kasi nakaayos at nakaporma ito.

"What should he do now that she found her?" Tanong ng binata sa kanyang sarili.

Morning came and I'm on my way to the office when my father called

"Hello, Dad!" Greeted him. "What's the matter? then asked.

"Nothing, actually, I called you early this morning to inform you that I received an invitation for a charity ball, it'll be on saturday night. It's one of the foundations that we support. Your mother and I can't go because we have prior appointments on that day that we can't cancel. So, I want you to go in behalf of us, you can bring someone to accompany you. Can you?" My father said.

"Do I have a choice not to go, Dad?" I ask him but I already know the answer.

"No, you don't, son. So I'm expecting you to be there. Thank you." He said and ended the call.

"Knew it, why did I ask anyway." Said to myself. "Peter, do you have plans on saturday night?" I asked my secretary s***h bestfriend who's on the driver's seat. And yes, we go to the office together and he's my driver, he wanted to even tho I already told him that I can go and drive myself, he insisted because according to him he can save gas for his own car and we live in the same village and we're actually neighbors. Not that I'm complaining, it's anadvantage for me. So back to the topic

"I have plans on that day Kai, I'll visit my parents" Peter said "Why? Do you need me to go with you? I can re sched that." he added

"No it's okay. I'll look for someone else." I said but honestly I can't seem to figure out who will I ask since my friends are busy with their own lives. Bet those dudes will be busy on partying and I have no girlfriend to ask. I can go there aloneand just leave actually but I can't guarantee myself that I can knowing those people who will be there. Also, I needed to be with someone to avoid uneccessary events to happen, coz I am pretty sure there will be.

"Want me to look for someone to be your date?" Peter asked while he's parking the car.

"Yeah, sure you can." I lazily answered him.

"Okay, I already have a prospect" He smirked

"Hmmm." I'll just let him do that, I trust him.

A busy day with lots of papers to review and sign, hindi ko na napansin ang oras and the lunch break is over. Peter is not on the office because he's doing an initial visit on the site. I am not yet hungry so I continued reading the papers on my table.

I heard a knock on my door. "Excuse me Sir, this is Shaira, can I come in?" I heard her asked so I let her in.

"Excuse Sir, Mr. Santos asked me to bring this for you. He told me to bring you these just in case you will not leave your office even after lunch break is over." She put the food she brought inside in the center table.

"Okay. Thank you. You can leave it there." I said. Palabas na sana sya nung tinawag ko ulit sya.

"Yes sir?" She asked

"Hmm, nothing, nevermind." I said and she left. I wanted to ask her to accompany me on saturday but then I remembered that Peter will handle that matter.
