All Golden
I walked into the closet and searched for something to wear, avoiding looking too cute but also not too plain because I am meeting Alpha Markus today. Not only that, but I got to call him and lie about having some news.
Likewise, I did not know how to put it. The essential thing is that I am going to visit and confront him like an adult. If he does not acknowledge me being an Alpha element, then it must stay that way. I must ask, though, where my mom is. We all notice she is the Luna of Bluestone until Alpha finds his mate. Well, not my biological mother, but she was there for 13 years. She loved me in her manner. I mean, she does not become angry or push me away. I was my father's little Moon, all the time taking me with him, showing me how to lead like a great Alpha, explaining how much for the pack and family matters if you are a powerful leader. Without that, there will be no trust, no support, and no obedience from your pack. How significant it is to see their needs being just as equal.
I wonder what happened with the most trusted people in his life, his wife, and his Beta. Where is that loyalty who keeps talking about?
If she was there when my dad died, made him suffer before the hell got loose, someone apart from me and Mary must know something or ask about it. Right? I would!
Why is everything so complicated? So many secrets in our lives, so many questions with no answers.
What will happen when I cannot find my mate? Will my powers explode, or go crazy?
What if the dreams come true? I may be in danger already, without knowing.
This makes me sad, determined to do something.
Being on my way to the Pack house, gathering myself to look more confident, not showing any emotions, I am in the front yard… the same view.
This property offers a unique view, heaving privacy, and things like an equipped gym, a swimming pool, and a helipad.
The big house with expensive windows, six bedrooms had a particular architecture with the highest standards.
Approaching the Villa, you can look at an open plan entrance onto the high ceiling, lit foyer leading into the living and dining rooms, my father's harmonious office placed between the two.
Taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door. The Beta/ Alpha or whatever opened.
“Lara, looking good, I see.” The same plummy voice,
“Alpha Markus!” I greet him.
“What can I do for you, Lara?” He seemed tense and worried, not for me, but because.
“Well, I'm here to discuss something with you, about my family.” I informed him, while Clarissa tried to take over and scare him a little more.
His face looks pale now. You can see how sweat builds up on his forehead when I still have my head up and keep eye contact. He knows I am stronger than he is.
“Tell me your story about that day!” I commanded with an Alpha tone.
Having no choice, he feels defeated and closes his eyes.
“I waited for this to come. You do not have to believe it. However, it's what your old man wanted.”
Running his hand through his black hair, gets up and walks back and forth, explaining further.
“As you know, your birth mother and having a stepmom and your inheritance. But it all got complicated in time. You have this power for a reason, to keep the elements balanced. Your dad did everything to stay that way, Serenity becoming in his life brought that equilibrium.
She was his second chance mate but loving someone else, still understanding what's going on, she mates with your father, but no one knows that her loyalty to her lover will cut his heart into pieces, making him vulnerable and unstable.”
“You mean he's got crazy?” I asked.
“No. What I mean, it's that the elements became imbalanced.
Put it that way. The light cannot exist without the dark, meaning that if one of them is weak… they fight for dominance. If the dark takes over, he'll rip everything apart.”
“What happened there, Markus? How?”
“Alpha Matthias Moonlight was a powerful man. He kept fighting for over 13 years, but lost, he died so that we can live, making Serenity be with her lover again. They did not love each other, but merged like Alpha and Luna. That is the reason.
She keeps coming back, helping a little with Luna duty's, asking for you. I did not tell her where you are. Your father demanded that I do so.”
“What's the reason?” I questioned,
“It's just my opinion. I'm uncertain about this, Lara.”
“I want to speak with Serenity. I am not so sure about this because in my standpoint, you have betrayed him, Serenity rejected him and made him feel the pain of that, then killed him. If he was dead, Serenity became the power, then mating with someone else, restoring the balance, and being happy about it, of course, if all balance s**t goes like this. To get to the point, I have more questions than before.”
Being pissed, I complain, accusing him.
“As I said, you are powerful but not immortal. It is your choice what to believe or not?” Markus replied.
“How's it you know so much? I am aware you were the Beta, and the most trusted person of my father. Aren't you supposed to explain to your Pack what happened? Haven't they become curious about what is going on? What will you do if I challenge your alpha position? I remember your words very well from five years ago, asking myself why you haven’t killed me.”
I am pleading for information, suspicious.
“About Alpha position, you may do that and win, except we cannot know what will happen to you after all. A mate cannot choose a fated mate, but he can accept if he wants her. You are prepared to take that risk?” Markus pointed, shaking his leg.
“It's up to you when you decide to embrace your place as Alpha. I have done what my friend had told me to do. I could not obey him. And you had to believe it, be safe but afraid of me until the time comes. You were not. I know you just agreed to me that day, only to meet me here and now.”
I move my head in agreement, looking at him to find out if he is lying about all of this.
He looks tired and relieved. Upturned blue eyes and strong eyebrows put in a long face with a pointed nose.
Taking a wooden box out of the desk drawer, he came in front of me and offered the box. An octagonal box inlaid with elaborate veneers, it has braced plated fittings and a key lock to keep it secure.
Seems to be like in my dream, this time being able to touch it with my hands.
“Alpha Markus, why did I dream about this box without seeing it before?”
I saw him jerk his head when I asked him. He is trying to figure out how to avoid the question.
“I'm sorry. Some things are for me to know and for you to discover. One more thing, don't trust anyone, me neither.” He advised.
“I will, I will find out. When I do, pray not to be in my path if you have anything to do with all this.” I assure him, then storm out.
Not getting home and choosing to clear my mind, I made my course to the lake.
Examining the small box in my hands, I kept thinking about how long I was expecting for this day to arrive, pulling Markus' internal organs out. Now what? Where am I going from here? If what Markus declared was correct, then I must be careful with all of them, whom to trust… God! What if my mate does not care for us and abandons us, to get the power and later kill me? Tears were spilling more on my face, and I did not interrupt them.
“We are in this together.” Clarissa soothed, then continued. “Sounds dramatic, complicated, out of hand, but we are strong and independent. We will find a solution.”
Something is off. I just cannot put my finger on it. Sobbing, I lay down on the fluffy green grass, as if awaiting a thing good to happen.
Like an infinity of blue with red spots at sunset, the cloudless sky looks to relieve the pain, and the breeze relaxes me when the woods dance a lovely waltz for me, and the earth beneath me warms up my soul.
I looked at nothing but to remain down and live this experience. I will soon have to learn how to master these powers because I am not alone. I will never be.
After experiencing those precious moments, I considered retiring home because I crave to see what is in the box, and how it will help me in the future.
Home… may not belong to my parents, but it belongs to these people who have enjoyed taking care of me for five years. They supported me to create a future for myself.
Standing in front of the House admiring the view, I can look at a considerable garden stock of distinct colored roses, in the middle of it, a modest wolf-shaped fountain. Ironic, right?
“Hey sweetheart, how are you?” Mary asked as she stepped out the front door.
“Mary, I'm okay. Just admire the roses, the white ones are amazing.” I replied, smiling, then showing the small box from Markus.
“Go inside. You can take a shower if you wish until I prepare something to eat. Next, shall we open the box?”
“Is my brother home yet?”
“No, Nina is home, and she was agitated all day long and wanted to come after you. We know closely how matters are with Alpha. We want to avoid getting hurt even further.” Mary pointed out.
“Well, I have a lot to tell you about. Things became indeed complicated.” I informed them, then went to my room.
The hot shower had my muscle tension relieved after this stressful day now relaxed and more confident in myself.
I took out the necklace from my neck with the key I had received from Mary. It is tiny that it could not even cross your mind that it can open an object.
I rushed down to the kitchen, assuming Mary had done something to fill my belly. A testy smell of cooking caresses my nose and I eat the pasta with mushrooms.
“Hey everybody!” I greeted while putting on a plate of spaghetti and ate like it was no tomorrow, muttering that it was delicious.
Nina, eating as well, swallowed hard, widening her eyes.
She needed to see that I am ok but interested in all of it too.
I informed them of everything that had happened at Alpha's home. Revealed to them my fear of defeat, and how I come to be prepared to fight whatever it is until I discover the answers. And about who craves to get so much power and for what?
I opened the box. Inside was a ring, my biological mother's ring. I know that from the picture I saw. A finger rings with decorations in Gothic style, with a large green, emerald stone-like diamond cut.
I held it in my palm and the ring glowed. In a freehand, a ball of fire formed, or it looked like a small sun. A light breeze caressed my hair and whispered in my ear, *you are not alone.*
This ball of light diminished in the palm, entering under the skin, and spreading throughout the body. I glowed golden, and my index finger traced the right on the emerald stone. I feel like someone is persuading me to place the ring on my finger. That is what I did.
I turned into my white wolf, supporting the golden shape like protection over my frame. Abruptly, I was in the woods running to exhaustion like an arrow, then stopping patting, I let out a howl so powerful and terrifying that I felt the earth tremble beneath me, passing on the message:
“Alpha has been reborn and is here.”
