The hall filled up with more recognized elite, making it difficult to see the next five figures standing next to you. It was an exhibition for the renowned, but who would have thought Ivy will be privileged to attend.
At first, when they arrived, she thought of how Emma knew a lot of them. Yes, she was once a midwife, but that isn't enough for her to know a lot of renown figures.
The only thing she knows about Emma is that she has no children because of an accident she had, and lost her womb. Her husband is late, and she's the only one left behind.
The director walked up the stage, and cleared her voice into the microphone, getting everyone's attention.
"It's an honor to have you all here tonight. Please make yourself comfortable as you tour the place. But before then, I believe we are all into businesses. I met an outstanding lady here today talking about business, and I will like her to share some tips. Mrs. Ivy, please come forward."
Ivy didn't move an inch, she stood there looking around, as the figures wait for her to go forward. The fear of how to address the crowd runs in her blood, what if someone recognizes her, and embarrass her.
She felt Emma's hands on her back, pushing her further, that was when she carried her legs to the podium with a smile.
The director excused herself while she went outside to welcome one of her top clients. He's one of the elites who buy from her, especially when it's on auction. He never misses great artwork.
He had informed her the exact time he will be around, and she thought it would be best to welcome him. She was standing when a car came to a halt, the driver stepped out to get the car door..
"Good evening Mr. Xavier. Thank you for coming. Please, let's go inside." She greeted, while he nodded with a smile. She directed him into the hallway. As soon as they were inside, he halted when he saw Ivy standing on the podium talking.
"In business, the Common obstacles we face today is technology, the advancement of technology. I'm sure most of you are aware of this."
The crowd murmurs, others bobbed their head in agreement to what she just said, paying more attention to her.
"There are several keys we can use to tackle this challenges, and one of them is by continuous learning, and development. As you learn you implement it into business. You also need to share knowledge, you need to invest using strategic. Some business owners today just invest without proper knowledge. As technology advances, you have to make sure you are not left behind."
The conversation went on for the next fifteen minutes, which made her became the center of attention. Ivy explained some keys points, and how to go about it.
"Lastly is your customer-centric approach. How do you engage with your customers. Their communication, how they feel after using your product."
Immediately she trailed off, Xavier began to clap for her, and the crowd followed, everyone clapped hands for her. They were all impressed by her lecture, and enjoyed it.
She made sure to let them know that business is like a school where continuous learning and adaptation are crucial. When there's an advancement of technology, business needs to upgrade and do better.
The director strode to the podium and pulled her into a hug. "I would like to have a chat with you, just fix a date." She mumbled into her ears, before they disentangle the hug.
"That was impressive, these are tips to growing business, and I'm sure everyone here enjoyed her briefing. Please, let's dwell into the business for today. Please have no hesitation to take a look around."
Everyone got into the business of the day, drinking, eat, exchanging business ideas, which Ivy had mentioned.
Emma was so happy she brought her along, perhaps if she had stayed at home, no one would have recognized her talent.
The little time she spent with her when she was still working at the prison made her realize how brilliant Ivy was, but her husband never got to help her grow.
They were in the middle of talking to Anderson when Xavier interrupted.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I'm sorry to interrupt." Everyone turn to look at him.
"Mr Xavier!" Anderson exclaimed, they exchange pleasantries and shook hands.
"It's been awhile, the last time I spoke with your assistant, he said you were out of the country."
"Yes. I came in last two month, I have been away for business." He smiled, his gaze fixated on Ivy, making her uncomfortable.
"That's lovely, but why do I feel like I know him? He changed a lot making it challenging to recognize him?" Emma interjected, she's been staring at him.
"This is Xavier, Fernandez son, don't tell me you have forgotten him. He was a close friend to your husband. Xavier Mrs. Emma, you still remember her."
"Oh my goodness! I'm sorry. I didn't recognize you." He squatted to the ground to greet, but she quickly helped him up.
"You don't have to do that. You changed, I guess it's because you rarely stay in New York, you are mostly out of the country." Emma said.
"You are right, he came back when his uncle passed away years back. But he handles other business, that's why he's rarely in New York." Anderson explains.
"You must be a busy young man. I'm impressed."
"Thank you so much. I'm even more impressed in this beautiful lady. If you don't mind, can we have a chat?" He inquired, smiling at her.
Ivy looked at Emma who winked at her, making her chuckle. "Sure. Please lead the way." She followed him behind, and they began to talk.
"The other day, my car almost ran into you, I was going to apologize, but you scurried off." He said, leaving the part, that she worked at the bar.
Ivy abruptly stopped to look at him, her eyes widened in shock. "Oh my, you are the one, I'm so sorry, I would rather not cause trouble."
He smiled, and shrugged. "It's okay. It seems you are good with business. I was quite impressed. It's a talent you got there, not everyone knows about business. There are rules to business."
"HELLO Ms Ivy." An elderly lady said, pulling her into a hug. "I'm impressed with what you did up there."
"Thank you ma'am. I'm honored you enjoyed the briefing."
"How about we meet some other time? I can give you my card." She quickly pulled her card out of her bag. Ivy hesitated at first, but then proceeded to collect it.
"I will give you a call tomorrow." She promised, the lady hugged her, waved goodbye before striding into the crowd.
"I told you, that was impressive. You will get more people who want rub mind's with you, and I'm one of them."
She stole a glance at him, she wasn't sure if she should be happy or nervous. Her nightmare is when they find out she's the murderer her husband accused her to be, who will want to chat with her?
Nate knew she had such talent, but never cared. She wanted to venture into business which he promised help, but never did anything afterward.
He wanted her to just be a housewife and because of how much she loved him, she had no problem doing what he wanted.
"I don't think that will be an issue. I can give you business tips. But what are you into?"
"Real estate, most of the big house's in New York, they are under my company."
Ivy was impressed, his features alone scream luxury. "That's something I can help with. I can get your card, we can talk, perhaps exchange ideas."
"Sure. I don't mind. There's something you should see, let's go over and meet the others." Ivy nodded, and followed him behind. To this day, Ivy will never forget how her life changed.
