The Date
Sofie was sitting in class, taking notes and trying to pay attention to the lecture. But she couldn't help but glance over at the new teaching assistant, Ethan. He was so different from the other TAs - he was young and charismatic, with a quiet confidence that drew her in.
When the class ended, Sofie gathered her things and slowly made her way towards the front of the room. As she approached Ethan, she noticed how his dark eyes sparkled when he smiled. "Hi," she said, "I just wanted to thank you for the great lecture today."
"Oh, it was my pleasure," Ethan said with a smile. "I'm glad you found it helpful."
Sofie smiled back, feeling a bit flustered by his attention. "Well, I have to go now, but I hope to see you in class again soon."
Ethan nodded. "I look forward to it."
As Sofie walked away, she couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement in her stomach. She had never felt this way about a TA before. Something about Ethan was different, and She couldn't wait to see him again. She found herself thinking about him all through her next class, and by the time she got back to her dorm room, she was in a daze. She flopped down on her bed and thought about the conversation she'd had with Ethan. Why was he so intriguing? He seemed so calm and self-assured, and she found that incredibly attractive. But what if he didn't feel the same way about her? She wasn't used to feeling this way about anyone, and it was both exhilarating and terrifying.
As she lay there, lost in her thoughts, there was a knock on the door. She jumped up, startled, and opened the door to find Ethan standing there, looking sheepish. "I'm sorry to bother you," he said, "but I forgot to give you the handout for the next class."
Sofie smiled, trying to hide her surprise and delight. "Oh, that's okay! I'm glad you came by." She took the handout from him and looked up into his eyes. "Thanks again for being such a great TA."
Ethan hesitated for a moment, then spoke. "I actually wanted to say something else to you. You seem like a really interesting person, and I'd like to get to know you better. Would you be interested in grabbing a coffee sometime?"
Sofie felt her heart skip a beat. She wasn't expecting him to ask her out. But the thought of spending time with him, getting to know him better, was incredibly appealing. "I'd love to," she said, trying to sound casual, but her voice betrayed her nervousness. "When are you thinking?"
Ethan's smile widened. "How about tomorrow afternoon, after class?"
Sofie nodded. "That would be great."
"There's a coffee shop near campus that I like. Does that sound okay?"
"That sounds perfect." Sofie's heart was racing. She couldn't believe this was happening.
"Great! I'll meet you there at 2:00?"
Sofie nodded again, unable to speak.
Ethan smiled and said, "See you then. Have a good night."
Sofie watched Ethan walk away, feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness. She couldn't believe she was going on a coffee date with her TA. What if he was just being friendly, and there was no romantic interest? But then again, what if there was? She had so many questions running through her mind, and she couldn't wait for tomorrow to come. She went to bed that night with butterflies in her stomach, wondering what the future held.
The next day, Sofie went to class with a spring in her step.
