A New Beginning

508 Words
The morning after the wedding was unusually quiet. Ariana stood on the balcony of her small apartment, holding a cup of coffee. The memories of yesterday still lingered, but something had changed. She hadn't cried. For the first time in months, she felt free. Her phone rang. Unknown number. She hesitated before answering. "Hello?" "Good morning. Is this Ms. Ariana?" "Yes." "This is Olivia from Sterling Group. We reviewed your application, and we'd like to offer you the position of Senior Project Manager." Ariana was speechless. "Me?" "Yes. We were impressed by your work. If you're interested, we'd like you to start next Monday." A smile slowly appeared on her face. "I accept." As the call ended, she whispered to herself, "This is my new beginning." Meanwhile... At Ethan's luxurious home, silence filled every room. His wedding photos had already been delivered. Sophia looked through them with excitement. "Aren't they beautiful?" she asked. "They are," Ethan replied, but his smile didn't reach his eyes. He couldn't stop thinking about Ariana walking away without looking back. Sophia noticed. "You're thinking about her again, aren't you?" "No." "You hesitated." "I'm just tired." Sophia forced a smile, but inside, anger grew. Later that afternoon... Daniel met Ethan at a quiet café. "You don't look like a newlywed," Daniel joked. Ethan sighed. "I don't know what's wrong with me." Daniel leaned forward. "Do you want the truth?" Ethan nodded. "You never stopped loving Ariana." Ethan remained silent. "I made a promise." Daniel shook his head. "A promise without love becomes a prison." Those words echoed in Ethan's mind long after they left the café. On Monday morning... Ariana entered the towering Sterling Group headquarters. The lobby was elegant, with polished marble floors and glass walls that reflected the morning light. Employees greeted her warmly. "Welcome, Ms. Ariana." She felt nervous but determined. As she walked through the office, everyone admired her confidence. Her new manager smiled. "We're glad to have you here." "I'm happy to be here too." For the first time in a long while, Ariana felt valued for her talent—not for her relationship with anyone else. That evening... Sophia received a mysterious phone call. She stepped outside so Ethan wouldn't hear. "Is everything under control?" a man's voice asked. "Yes," Sophia answered quietly. "He still doesn't know?" "No." "You'd better keep it that way." The call ended. Sophia looked nervous. "What if he finds out?" She took a deep breath and returned inside, pretending nothing had happened. From the hallway, Ethan noticed her uneasy expression. "Who was that?" "Oh... just an old friend." Ethan wasn't convinced. Across the city... Ariana looked out of her office window at the sunset. Her heart still carried scars. But she was no longer living in yesterday. She smiled softly. "My future starts now." She had no idea that this new job would soon bring her face-to-face with someone who would change her life forever. And Ethan had no idea that the biggest secret in his marriage was about to come to light.
