I refused to believe she knew who was calling and had purposely ignored me. I did not want to believe that. I put the phone on the dresser after the fourth call, even though I never ever called more than once, and went to have my bath. Mason had been right. I shouldn’t become a mess because of her absence. She was only training. She would be back; I hoped. I came back to pick up the phone, taking it along with me in case she called back; I didn’t want to miss her call for anything.
