Dread

The sickness...what can be done about it? Nathaniel...doesn't know how to stop it. He doesn't know how to cure it. What can we do to stop such a thing? I sighed as I stroked Asher's little head. I was curled up on the bed and he was sleeping in my lap. "It's going to be okay," I told him, even though he couldn't understand me, "you'll be okay. I'll make sure of it." "Promise?" A voice said from behind me and a smile appeared in my face. Felix stepped out of the shadows with a soft smile. "Yeah," I told him with a nod, "I promise." "Good," he said, "cause we found Erin." "What?" I stood in surprise, "he's in the south. They've asked for us to come deal with him." "Deal with him?" I asked, "how? Some of our best fighters couldn't." "We'll figure it out," Felix said and grabbed my shoulders, "okay? We will. Now, Potts is going to stay behind with Asher and My mom and Maximus, okay?" "Maximus?" I asked with a sharp breath. If he gets violent... "Don't worry," Felix said, "Nathaniel should be here in less than three hours. His bonds, that he insisted we use, should hold till then." "Jasmine's coming?" I asked as Potts walked through the door. "Oh, well, they're waiting for you," she said with a nod as she took the baby from my arms, "I'll take good care of him. Be careful." "We'll do our best," Felix nodded as he led me out of the room and out of the castle where everyone awaited. "Ready?" Jade asked as she sat upon her dragon. He was a feisty with angry, red eyes and dark green scales. He was only slightly larger than Jordan, around the size of Midnight. "Of course," I said as I climbed onto Jordan. Felix patted Midnights head as we jumped into the air. South. The area that has always been avoided. This was going to end badly. The south lay past where forest and desert meet and where the sand rules the land. The small and scattered villages lay along the coast. I could point out some settlements. Some where I could see some of the large red dragons that stayed where they were stationed. The place we were heading was the largest settlement of the south. Azoga was the name. It was large and on the coast where the cold water grew warm on these shores. These people were tall and dark with strange languages and customs. Here, dragons don't act as friends and protectors. No, here they are just a tool to be used. The place was full of tall wooden structures with colorful walls. There were crowded streets and people stared at us as we circled above. "Where do you think he's-" Felix couldn't finish his question. I felt scarp claws as I was snatched off the back of Jordan. "Alaina!" I heard Felix yell as I was carried higher into the sky. Jordan began to fly towards me when he was attacked by another dragon. "Let me go!" I screamed as I struggled against the claws that were wrapped around my arms and chest. "Not today, Princess!" A familiar voice yelled back and I stopped struggling. Erin, I thought with dread.
