The Unexpected Romance

Waking up every morning has always been a chore, I'm not a morning person but today is my birthday and I'm really excited as dad has agreed to taking me to the the mall to get the latest phone everyone is talking about as my birthday gift. My name is pearl Davis, I'm 18 today and my family is rich but my parents like to live a modest life and also taught their children the same. My family owns a cosmetic brand that almost every household owns. "PEARL!!!!" 'Urgh' my annoying brother jake screams my name. I walk to the door with my back pack in hand "what is it jake?" "mom wants to know if you are ready for school" his face looking so innocent like he didn't just scream like a banshee.... "I'm ready goof ball" he just rolled his eyes and went back down stairs with me behind him. walking into the kitchen as d delicious smell of pancake hit my nose, I drop into a chair and sigh in contentment. YES I'm a foodie, sue me! mom turns around and catches me having a food-gasm on the smell of the pancakes and clears her throat "good morning mom " "morning baby, happy birthday sweetie " "thanks mom, where's dad?" "I'm right here birthday girl" dad's voice came from the living room I skipped like a child to dad and gave him a big hug "happy birthday my princess " I'm a daddy's girl and I intend to be 1 till I turn 80. "I have a surprise for you" mom said behind me "you already know what your father's gift is but you don't know mine" she said with a smirk I chuckled "ok mom, what is it?" giddy with excitement and just ready for my gift. she pulls out a small box from behind her and gives it to me. I hurriedly open it to find out it's a diamond necklace and if you look at it closely it has a small space in between making it look like a locket of some sorts. I was about opening it when mom stopped me and said "don't worry about that your father and I will explain that to you later, but for now keep that part of the necklace a secret" I nodded and went to get breakfast so I can leave for school
