Fiance? I don't remember ever having one
Lazily, I opened my eyes to see the quiet streets under the rain. Lights flickered aggressively as I struggled to stand up from the garbage bags of which I unknowingly slept in.
A strong surge of headache would attack me whenever I tried to resist the heaviness I felt within my body, unfortunately sheer will wasn’t enough to overcome the unfortunate state I was in. I fell backwards into the trash, managing a soft whimper of angst.
Suddenly I shifted my gaze to my right where I heard someone’s footsteps—blurred under the rain. He carried an umbrella on one hand as he walked closer to where I lay. His eyes focused intently on mine, searching for something within, but I looked away. Finding it hard to return the eye contact when he had a pair of hypnotic amber eyes, so I focused on his auburn hair that was parted slightly to the right.
“You shouldn’t stay here under the cold Ms. Leslei.”—he bent down, offering his coat—“Let’s get you into my car, shall we?”
“Do I know you…?”
He simply chuckled at my question. “I’m someone whom you trust and know very well. After all I’m your fiancé.”
Fiance? I don’t remember ever having someone like that…
“Hush now, you can ask me anything tomorrow. For now, you need to get some rest.”
I took his warm hands and accepted his gesture, slightly bothered at the fact that he knew me. But with the state I was in, I had no reason to refuse—I was wrecked.
He led me to his black car that was parked in the convenience store. I looked back, feeling an odd sense of fear when I stared into the dark alley. There I saw the remnants of what seemed to be a dark shadow that faded into air as if my mind just played tricks on me so I shook my head before going inside the car.
