Mara
Staring at the ceiling of the cave, the only thing this six hundrend year old witch could do was glare and proclaim her hatred for all that had betrayed her. She was born a normal girl who later on became a witch, one that had a connection to the sea. One that had lived with sea. To the point where she was called the a sea witch and eventually she even created a lair underwater, to avoid people who seeked to cause trouble. But no matter what she did, her power and her strength that made everyone hate her. The only person who ever truly cared for her was her own mother, who was a witch as well, though nowhere near as powerfull as she. "I won't let it end like this..."  As she said those words, she raised her arms high above her body, she didn't have much time. She could feel herself grow weaker as time went by... and she knew death would come to escort her either to heaven or hell. But she couldn't die like this, she refused to let them have the last laugh. A weak, dark blue light came out from her fingertips, her eyes widen and a smile appeared on her face a she began chanting.  "The immortal sea and the dark deep, the power of time and this memory of mine. Let me correct what was done to me. Bring justice along with me, cruel hands and evil hearts must pay for my pain!"  She continued as the light slowly consumed her entire form, the cold air became warm and Mara knew that she had succeeded. Her wish would be granted, she would have her revenge!  Her hands fell to her sides and her eyes closed, even if she wasn't the one to do it, those that caused her harm would pay. Their lives wouldn't have a fairytale ending, not after all the pain they had caused!!!  But then... something weird happened. "Mara... Mara! It's time to wake up." Wake up? From what? And that voice... that was her mother's voice! But the spell wasn't supposed to do something like that.... her mother had died a long time ago... and the spell was supposed to trap her power, memories and knowledge to the mind of someone of equal power with her. She slowly opened her eyes, the light of the sun immediately forcing her to close them again. "Too bright." "Well of course! It's almost time for lunch, you need to wake up." Mara slowly turned her head and when she opened her eyes again, she was greeted with her mother's smilling face. "Mom..." "Finally! You've been sleeping for so long, I thought you'd never wake up." Mara slowly stood up, looking around and realizing that she was in her bedroom. She looked at her hand, there were no wrinkles or scars... she then touched her face, her once dry skin was now smooth and felt so very unreal. "Mom, what day is today?" "Today's the festival of autumn. And unless you get up, you'll miss everything." At that Mara slowly began to puzzle everything. She had gone back in time and had taken over the body of her young self... at this age she was far too innocent to understand a lot of things. And it was today, at the autumn's festival that she met the first person that was responsible for her downfall. "Okay, mom. I'm up... can we eat now? I'm starving."  "First change clothes and wash your hands. Then we'll eat." "Okay!" At that Mara jumped off the bed and decided to wear a simple orange dress, she never liked clothes that had so much stuff on them. As far as she was concerned, ribbons were for gifts, flowers were for plants, seas shells belonged to the sea and feathers belonged to birds. Once she was done putting on her clothes, she went to the bathroom and washed her hands as her mother instructed and then went to the small dining hall of the house.  Beef with potatoes, a bit further were chesse, bread and a salad made of lettuce and cucumber.  "Come and eat, it won't be tasty if it gets too cold." "Yes mom." The two of them sat down and ate slowly, Mara taking the time to think back to the last time she and her mother had the time to eat like that. After Mara turned thirteen her mother passed away and she was forced out of her home.  This time though, she'd make sure to change everything. This time she'd keep everything and she'd protect it, no matter what she had to do to achieve that. "Mom." "Yes, Mara?"  "You once said that you knew how to use magic... I want to learn too." Mara's mother smiled, she had never forced her to learn magic, after all, if Mara didn't want to learn it, she wouldn't. "Of course dear, however it won't be easy." "I know.... but I really want to learn."  "Very well, how about we begin after we go and see the festival? I heard they have a contenst about pumpkin design." Mara smiled, her mother loved designs that involved plants. It was probably because her mother had a strong connection to the earth, her magic mostly involved flowers, plants and the manipulation of the ground. She was also good at making potions, something that Mara spent years working on until she was on the same level as her mother. Potions were chemistry with weird ingredients...but sometimes these ingredients weren't just hard to come by but also very... suspicious looking. There were mushrooms that could be used for a variety of things, from creating potions, to cooking and even creating some sort of ointmen for the skin. Mother and daughter chatted happily until eventually, they finished everything that was on the table, were now in their bellies. So the only thing left to do, was clean up and head out. Mara took her mother arm and as they reached the town, the young girl immediately spotted her first enemy. It was time for this game to begin... and this time the winner would be different. Mara decided to do things as they had turned out, she asked her mother to buy her a small flower brooch... and as they approached, they bumped on a tall, thin man.  He had brown, well kept hair and small, green eyes. He also had a big moustache, wore expensive clothing and was accompanied by a young boy. "Oh, my apologies. My mind was elsewhere." He said with an apologetic smile. Mara knew he was lying, this man had kept an eye on her and her mother for a long time.... he knew that Mara's mother was a strong witch and he wanted to use her to increase his wealth and rise on the ranks of nobility. Mara then looked at the boy, he was handsome. His hair and eyes were the same as the man's, however this young boy clearly couldn't hide his arrogance and nasty attitude. "There's no need for apologies, we were also in the wrong." Mara's mother said, however before the man could say anything, Mara run off to the stall with accessories and began pointing at a brooch. "Mom! This one is pretty! It'd look good on you!" She said, the brooch was a giant, metal, yellow rose with vines around it. Mara's mother was in awe and went to her daughter, ignoring the man and his son, even as they glared at the young girl.  "It's lovely... but how much does it cost?" Mara's mother asked. The man behind decided to take advantage of the situation, just as Mara had predicted. "Let me buy it for you, as compensation for my rude behavior." Mara hid her smirk before looking at the stall's owner. She was an old lady, Mara knew that this woman had always been understanding, kind and warm towards others. "Miss! How much is the brooch?" Mara asked and the old lady smiled. "It's one silver coin." "I have one! Mom, give it! This is a gift for you!" The old lady chuckled and took off the brooch off, giving it to the young girl. When Mara's mother tried to pay, the old lady refused, saying that since Mara wanted it as a gift for her, there was no need to pay. The man and the boy were extremely annoyed and Mara decided to continue a bit more. This was barely the beginning of her revenge. Soon, all of her enemies would suffer a fate worse than what they had forced on her! That was a promise.
