Three months later Claire was walking downstairs when she felt dizzy. Claire is at her workplace. She is now a receptionist in a Chinese fine-dining restaurant. She stopped going downstairs when she felt like vomiting. Her surroundings feel like turning. Claire got out-balanced. She was ready to fall when someone caught her from falling, and her mind went blank. Claire felt that the person who caught her lifted her and shouted. “Get out of the way.” Claire woke up and saw that she was inside a room. Her eyes roamed around. She was about to stand up when she felt dizzy again. “Aw,” Claire exclaimed. Where am I? My head is aching so bad! Claire smelled something, and that upset her stomach. Gosh! I want to vomit, but I’m too dizzy to do so. She covered her mouth so that she would not vomit anywhere. She tried to stand up when the door opened. She didn’t bother looking at the person who came and called for the person’s help. “Help,” Claire said. He saw the man rush to her. “Why? What happened? Do you need anything?” The man asked. “I—- comfort room, please.” The man helped her stand up and took her dextrose. The man helped her get into the comfort room inside her room. She sat in front of the urinal and vomited there. The man took her hair away from her face. She stopped vomiting and pinched her nose. “Was it you? Your smell is making me dizzy.” Claire blurted out. “What? What do you mean!” “That’s also the scent I smell at my workplace! I got dizzy because of that. Can you please distance yourself from me?” Claire said, still pinching her nose. “I need to breathe, so please.” “But,” “Just please.” The man gave her her dextrose and got out of the comfort room. She stopped pinching her nose and stood up. She came out of the comfort room. She almost slipped when he saw the man who was waiting for her outside. She saw the man come closer, but she told him to stop. “H-how did you find me? Was it you a while ago?” Claire said. “Why don’t you leave me alone? Why---” He looked at her. “Are you okay now?” The man said. “I’m Vladimir Villazanta, the father of the baby inside you.” Shock is an understatement! Claire felt like her body felt numb. She can’t hear anymore. How-what does he mean? Claire was so lost she couldn't find her voice. “Yes, those are early symptoms of pregnancy. Dizziness, vomiting, and a while ago, the doctor confirmed that you are pregnant.” Vladimir said. Claire mustered up her courage and looked straight at him. “What do you mean I am pregnant with your child?” Claire asked. Claire decided to lie. “I am a married woman, of course. I will get pregnant but not by you, but with my husband.” The man named Vladimir looked at her and started laughing. Claire saw how handsome he is and the memories they shared that night came to her. So, his name is Vladimir. It’s so funny how I just know his name, just like how I just know that I am pregnant with his child. Claire just looked at him while he was laughing. He saw the man stop laughing and look at her. “You’re married? Really?” Vladimir smirked. “Don’t joke with me.” He added. Then, he walked towards her. “Stooooop!” Claire shouted! “I don’t like your smell.” And pinched her nose. Vladimir stopped from walking. Claire walked towards her bed and sat there looking outside the window. “Turn around and look at me.” The man said. But Claire acted as if she was not hearing anything. “Turn around, or I’ll come to you.” She turned around and told him, “You better not! You know how much I hate your smell! Our baby---” her eyes widened because of what she said. “I mean, my baby will suffer!” and turned around. He smiled! Why did I say ‘our.’ Claire! You’re so dumb! “You don’t need to hide because I was just waiting for the confirmation of the doctor about your pregnancy. My secretary has been keeping an eye on you. I told her to look out for you because I remembered that day I did not use protection, and we even did it several times, so I expected this to happen.” Vladimir said. Claire stood up and faced the man. “I don’t know you, and what do you mean I am pregnant with your child? I told you, I am married. Of course, I’ll get pregnant.” Vladimir took his phone out of his pocket and started reading her whereabouts. What happened three months ago. The footage of her coming out from his room. All the evidence leads the man as the baby's father. He looked at her. She remained silent and just listened to everything he said. “So, you have a husband? As I have said, you’ve never been in a relationship. How come you had a husband? Did my competent secretary not include that on her report?” She looked at him sharply. “You don’t have to lie, Claire Samaniego. I have already made a contract regarding our relationship. Just 365 days and I will let you go,” Vladimir said. “I will take the custody of the child, I will give the compensation you deserve, and you can live with the life you could ever imagine.” Claire was shocked by what Vladimir said, but the only word she uttered was “ Okay.” How can she go against him when he can take the child from her without her consent.
