“I do not doubt you. I know you will.” Her landlady assuredly said.
Her landlady stood up and went to her door.
She opened the door and was about to come out when we stopped and looked at her.
“Claire,” her landlady called.
“Yes, Ma’am?”
“Someone was looking for you a while ago. It’s a guy, and he looked tough. He asked me if I knew you, and I said I didn't know you. Who was that, Claire? Do you know him?”
“I don’t know someone here, Ma’am. I am not really sure who that was”
“Okay, Claire. I’ll be going now.”
Her landlady came out of her room and closed the door.
Someone is looking for me?! Who would that be? I have to look for a new place too! I can’t afford to get caught her.
She stood up and changed, and went outside to look for a new place.
The day is about to end. She did not find a new place.
She found one, but it’s too expensive, she can afford to pay for it. She doesn’t even have a job, so that she will try again tomorrow.
With a heavy heart, Claire went home.
She was near her home when she saw her landlady outside her room. Her landlady called her.
“Oh! Claire, you’re here! Your friend is waiting for you inside your room. I don’t want him to enter your room, but I saw how uncomfortable he is waiting outside for you. He’s been here for an hour now, and also, he doesn’t look like he will steal something from you, so I let him wait inside your room.” Her landlady said.
“I don’t have---”
“You come inside now. He’s been waiting for you. I’ll be going now, okay.”
Her landlady waved goodbye and walked out
What, friend? I just told her that I didn't know anyone. OhMG! Gina!
She hurriedly opened the door of her room but instead of Gina Claire was greeted by a man.
Claire saw the man standing near her bed. He is looking at something.
Claire saw him putting down what he was holding and looked at her.
Claire saw the man’s jawline, and she almost screamed when she fully saw the man’s face.
Claire swallowed a big lump from her throat.
She trembled.
She was about to run when the man held her arm.
Claire looked at her with fear.
“Why do you look so scared?” The man said.
“I’m not going to bite you.” He added.
You just did yesterday!
“Wh-who are you?” Claire stuttered.
The man looked at her. From head to toe, back to her eyes.
He’s the man from last night. I am sure of it! What is he doing here? What should I do now? He’s holding my arm tightly as if he’s going to break it.
He smiled. “You don’t remember me?” the man asked.
He came closer to her.
“Do you want me to tell you how we met?”
He came closer to her ears.
“What we did last night?”
Claire choked up. She keeps on coughing.
The man stood up in front of her and looked at her.
She was still coughing when she said, “What do you mean?”
He pulled her arm towards him and reached the door, locked it, and sat her down on her bed.
He looked down at her and spoke.
“Miss Claire Samaniego, the attendant who was assigned to clean my room last night.” The man stopped from speaking.
Claire looked up and saw his eyes, so she just looked down once again.
“Why did you---”
“I’m sorry,” Claire exclaimed, still looking down. “I’m really sorry.”
“Why are you saying sorry?” the man asked.
Claire sobbed. “I'm just sorry.”
“Tell me!” The man grabbed her face to force her to look up at him.
“Tell me the reason why you’re asking for my forgiveness. Tell me!” the man demanded.
The man held her shoulders and shook her.
Claire trembled. Tears kept falling from her eyes.
The man stopped and looked at her.
The man touched her cheek and wiped her tears.
“I’m sorry. I will go now.” Then the man came out of her room.
Claire kept crying even when the man had left for half an hour now.
He knows where I live. What should I do now! I think he just gave me a chance to run. I have to go! I’ll take that room even though it’s expensive. I don’t want to risk my safety because of money.
Claire put all of her things inside her luggage and booked a taxi.
She finished packing her things when the app notified her that her driver had arrived.
She hurriedly came out of her room and ran towards the taxi.
Claire opened the door of the taxi and went inside.
She was panting when she closed the door of the car.
I need to get out of this place. He looks like he is well-off. He can sue for all he cares.
“Please drive faster, Sir,” Claire told the driver.
She took out her phone and started typing. She was about to sense it to her sister, but she remembered that she shouldn't let them worry about her.
So, Claire called the landlady of the room she saw earlier.
The landlady answered. “Hello?”
“Hi, Ma’am, this is Claire. I was the one who reserved the room earlier. Do you still remember me, Ma’am?”
“Yes! Of course, I remember you!” The landlady said. “Do you want to rent the room? I’ll give it to you for a lower price.” The landlady said.
“Really, Ma’am? Thank you so much. I’ll be coming right now. I’ll be there in ten minutes. Thank you so much, Ma’am!”
