Prologue 12 years earlier…
In an unknown world, there is a kingdom. This kingdom was unlike any
others ever to be known. A kingdom no one knows about unless you lived there or were a part of a kingdom on this unknown planet. If you ever left, never to return, your memory of it would be erased. Unless you were part of the royal family that is. Inside The Lunar Castle, there lived a small, but growing royal family. At the time, King Aster and his beloved queen, Queen Celeste, had just been blessed with their first daughter—Luna.
Luna was their first princess during that time. Luna’s brother, Prince Zeke, loved his new sister very much. He was only four at the time, but he really wanted to keep his sister happy and safe. Princess Luna and Prince Zeke played and watched over each other until the year Luna turned two. That. Was when their lives would change forever.
It was the Thursday before her second birthday. There was a loud sound of shattering glass at the peak of midnight with the full moon shining brightly through. Zeke, who was the first to hear the sound, lept off his bed and ran across the hall to his sister’s bedroom.
Phew, she’s still asleep.
Quickly, he then ran to his parents’ room without a sound. Zeke climbs onto his father, King Aster, and tries to wake him up furiously.
“Dad.” Zeke whispers loudly, “Dad.” He says a little louder. “Dad!” Zeke almost yells whilst shaking his father even more. Prince Zeke was about to say it once more when his mother woke up sleepily, turned on the side lamp, and calmly woke Aster up.
“What is it dear?” Queen Celeste asks as King Aster sat up and repositioned Zeke.
“I…I heard a noise. It sounded like glass breaking. I checked on sissy, she was still sleeping when I looked inside. So I came to get you, daddy.” he whispers the last word as he tries to hold back tears. He climbs off the bed. “I hope sissy’s okay. It was really dark. I don’t know if I actually saw her.”
Aster and Celeste quickly get out of bed. Even though they didn’t really know what was going on because their world has never had a problem like this before, King Aster rushes to where Luna’s room is located to check on her while Celeste bends down to Zeke. “Don’t worry Zeke dear. Everything’s going to be fine.” She gave a small smile then went after Aster. Zeke stands there for a minute before choosing to follow his parents.
Luna’s bedroom door was open when Zeke arrived. His parents were already there, but they didn’t look very happy. His mother was crying and King Aster was trying to calm her down. Once Prince Zeke enters the room, his father turns toward him, still half hugging Zeke’s mom.
“Zeke.” His father says nearly crying as well, “Zeke. Your sister . . . she’s gone.”
Panicked, Zeke drops to his knees. As Prince Zeke stares in horror and sadness, tears filling his eyes, he blames himself that his sister is gone. “I—I didn’t mean to. I’m so sorry, it’s all my fault. It’s my fault she’s gone.” He covers his face and starts crying, still making himself believe that it was his fault they lost her.
“Whoa, whoa, hey there… It's not your fault. You did all that you could and did what you thought was right. Coming to get me.” King Aster kneels down by his son bringing his wife down with him. Aster embraced them both tightly.
“We’ll find her. She’ll come back to us. I swear with all my heart that she will be back. You understand?” How did this happen in the first place? No one needs to know. Not yet anyway.
