Prologue I
"Awww, why can't you read us just one more story?" Children were seated around the campfire, and right in the middle of one of the logs was a young woman dressed in blue and black, with a blue hat and a black bow. "Why do you have to leave, Detective? Can't you stay longer?" "Yeah, we want another story!" The woman chuckled, as the children pouted, not understanding why she would have to leave so soon. "Well, I just received another case in the Icy Lands, and I'm afraid the Ice Queen might not have the time nor patience to wait for another story." "But...y-you just got back, Detective! Why can't we hear another one?" "Yeah!" Another child asked, as he crept in closer towards the Detective, "Can't we hear another story?" "Just one? Just one more?" The child poked a finger out, as he shook it in front of her. "Uno? Uno story, please!" The Detective rolled her eyes fondly. Children are a great gift to all, but at times they can be... Not-so-understanding. "I'm sorry, kids, but I can't s-" "It will only be 5 mins! Just stay and tell another story! We would love to hear more!" The Detective was about to protest when a young girl stood up. "Just one more story, Detective. Please?" She was about to protest further, but the children gave off such adorable puppy-dog looks. She should know better than to object against children who knew her one and only weakness. Well, one of her weaknesses. She slowly sighed, before relenting. "Fine. But this is the last one." The children cheered loudly and excitedly, as the Detective sat back down onto the log, careful to put her leather satchel somewhere where she could reach it. After all, one cannot be too sure about the dangers of the forests outside the walls. "This story talks about what happened in these Lands, and what happened beyond the walls of the Prehistoric Kingdom." The children's eyes widened in excitement, as they fidgeted slightly, and hanging onto every word. "Now, this story starts like any other story or fairytale that you might have heard when you were all younger." "So, everyone, let's start with the story. Once upon a time...." ~Story~ There was a time when kingdoms were formed, flourishing, thriving, surviving, and conquered by many others. One of them was the magical Doll Kingdom, which was said to be ruled by one of the universe's most powerful magicians and mages. Another was said to be the legendary Mystic Kingdom, which was apparently stated by many myths as 'a world behind a mirror', and had rather...mysterious origins and stories surrounding it. And to this day, no one was able to find the Mystic Kingdom, not even with years of advanced sorcery and technology. Perhaps one will find this kingdom one day, but that would be yet another great story! However, this kingdom was said to be ruled by a great ancient king. Much was not known about the kingdom as a whole, and hence the kingdom, for many years, was surrounded by a thick bout of mysterious fog. No one really knew whether the kingdom was deserted or habited, whether it was rising or falling, and many others questioned its mere existence, to begin with. So, for many years, the kingdom lived in peace without threats from outsiders or power-hungry conquerors. The king who ruled the kingdom was also said to be benevolent and kind. Though he was stubborn and firm in his beliefs, he was patient and understanding towards his people and citizens, and would listen to their woes and pleas. Even if the number of citizens grew and fell, he remained firm in his morals, which everyone was thankful for. He counted his blessings daily, thanking not only his citizens, but also his advisors, who were also said to have mysterious origins surrounding them. They were each shrouded in mystery, as no one really knew, even with all the legends and myths surrounding them, if they were even real, or where they came from. In exception to the most trusted citizens in the kingdom, which the citizens were quite satisfied about. After all, as long as the people live in peace and happiness, they will be quite satisfied nonetheless and carry on with their lives and duties. Some were also said to have traveled far and wide, spreading stories about this magnificent kingdom and its rulers. Those who wished to seek knowledge and give knowledge about the kingdom spread them further and wider as well. Over the years, two stories stood out to the mere traveler and myth hunter, including the stepping down of one of the advisors, and the other...was about the loss of one of them. Pages was a humble advisor, and her stepping down was sadly unavoidable. She might be talented and gifted in many ways, and very resourceful. She had knowledge of many ancient kingdoms and realms, and when she had to leave, she was hugged firmly by one of the advisors. Someone who spouted a blue hat, and who was sad to see her go. "Farewell, dear friend." The advisor stated, as she hugged Pages tightly. Pages was stunned, before reciprocating the rare show of affection. "I hope you will be fine, and stay safe out there. It isn't a complete bed of roses out there." The other advisors also said farewells to her, and the king even shed a tear. She left with many gifts, and bid fond farewells before she left the kingdom, determined to find her own ways in the world. Now, dear reader, this might be the end of one chapter. However, the story that I am going to give next... Might be the start of another. ~To Be Continued~
