Carra's P.O.V
Getting ready for school the next morning my thoughts went to Lucas. Why had Eric gone over to his house yesterday? By the time he made it home it was time for dinner and I didn't get to ask him about it. I was definitely curious.
"Sis you ready to go?" Eric yelled from down the hall.
"Yea, give me a minute to grab my backpack." I said suddenly not so sure I wanted to do this.
I took a few much-needed breaths and went to meet Eric in the car.
"I have a surprise for you and Anna.” He grinned.
“But you’re going to have to wait till we get to school so I can tell you both together.”
"You know I hate surprises." I said frowning.
"You’re going to like this one."
"I'll be the judge of that.” I said not convinced
As we pulled up to the school I saw Anna waiting on me.
"Anna, Eric says that he has a surprise for us, but I can't get him to tell me what it is." I frowned.
“Why are Lucas and Stephen walking over here?” Anna asked panicked.
I looked up and meet Lucas’s blue eyes.
I could not look away it was like I was staring into his soul and he was looking into mine.
Snap out if it Carra, he's no good for you I thought to myself.
Lucas's P.O.V
"Girls meet your two new volunteers for the carnival." Eric said clearly amused.
"What! Why do I get thrown into this too?" Stephen protested.
"Shut up Stephen!" I said elbowing him in the stomach.
"Quit complaining you’re doing it."
"Fine but it doesn't mean I have to like it." He said frowning.
"What do you need us to do?" I asked turning to look at Anna.
"We need help building the booths. Starting today we will be meeting after school to start on that.”
“Count us in,” I said watching Carra’s reaction.
“Great, meet us behind the school when the bell rings. Oh, and if you happen to know anyone else that would like to volunteer please let me know. We could really use the help.” She smiled nervously.
"I’ll make sure plenty of people show up to help."
“Omg, Lucas, thank you." Anna smiled excitedly at me.
Eric's idea was a good one. I would get to spend hours with her without her thinking that I was stalking her. Even though I kind of was I thought grinning to myself.
"Bro let me just tell you how unfair I think this is. I can think of a million other things I can be doing after school that don't involve working."
"But do any of these things include helping your best friend/ future Alpha getting his mate to except him. I need you to tell the rest of the pack that as of now there all volunteering too. After all, Carra is your Future Luna so make sure they all show up?" I said heading to my class.
If I worked this right I was sure I would have her trusting me in no time. Or at least that's what I was hoping for. When she had looked up at me it had taken me by the surprise at how intense it had been. I could see all the sadness and fear in her eyes and I wanted nothing more than to make it better for her.
She was so beautiful, and I'm not even sure that she was aware of it. She had black blue hair and the greenest eyes I had ever seen. She was about 5'6 to my 6'2. Her and Eric looked allot alike he also had black hair and green eyes he was just a few inches taller than her at 6'0. Despite that there was no hiding the fact that they were twins.
Eric had described her as bubbly and outgoing. She had been captain of her cheer leading team. Popular with a lot of friends. After her attack and the fallout from it she had changed. The once confident girl was now skittish and untrusting.
I was angry that someone had stolen so much from her. I was going to show her that not everyone was cut from the same cloth.
I wanted to see the light in her eyes. The light that that asshole Adam had stolen from her.
I needed to come up with a way to get her to start a conversation with me.
Carra's P.O.V
I couldn’t believe that school was over already. I spent most of the day in a daze thinking about spending so much time with Lucas.
For some reason when he was around I just wanted to be closer to him. He made me feel safe even more so then Eric, and that was beyond weird. He hadn’t said a word to me all day and I'm not sure I was happy about that. Which had me confused.
He had not even looked my way, which I guess was a good thing. Wasn’t it? I walked to my locker wondering why I cared so much what was so different about him? Why did he get to me so much?
"Man, sis what are you thinking about so hard that you walked right by me?" Eric said with a knowing grin.
"Can I ask you something Eric?"
“Sure."
"What do you think about Lucas?" I asked wanting his opinion of him.
"Why do you ask Carra?" He said meeting my eyes.
"He makes me feel weird when he's around. It’s like I want to be near him even though at the same time all I want is to get as far away from him as possible. I just don't understand it. He makes me feel safe I just can’t explain it."
“Lucas is a great guy I think that he would be perfect for you. He's the kind of guy that would never hurt you and never let anyone else hurt you either. So, if you’re asking if I approve of him, I do." He said with a smile.
I had not expected Eric to say that. He was always looking out for me. For him to say that he thought Lucas was good for me was a massive thing for me.
"I'm going to try to try to get to know him better. I'm just not sure that he's still going to want to talk to me though. I ignored him the other day.”
"I’m positive he will talk to you," he said laughing like he knew something I didn’t.
"I'm proud of you sis it takes a brave person to put their self out there once they have been hurt like you have." he smiled at me.
Lucas's P.O.V
Stephen had pulled the pack together and all of them showed up. Most of them didn't mind helping out.
Stephen on the other hand still wasn’t happy, but he would have to just get over it. I knew that most of his protests were BS anyway he liked Carra or little bit as he liked to call her.
I knew that he wanted nothing more than to see me happy. When I took over the Alpha position he would be my beta I couldn’t think of anyone who would be better for the job.
I just needed to get our Luna to except me. I laughed.
Carra's P.O.V
Eric and I walked around to the back of the school together. Kids were already working on different projects. I smiled excited to be part of something again.
"Carra, over here," Anna said waving me over.
“What do you want to work on? "She asked.
"Where ever you need me. I'm ready to work." I replied.
"That's a first." Eric said teased.
"Ha, funny Eric." I said punching him in his chest.
"That hurt Carra." He pouted.
"Well quit running your mouth before I hit you again." I threatened.
"Children, children quit fighting, “Anna laughed.
"He started /she started it we both said at the same time."
"Eric will you go help Stephen out and Carra go help Lucas out." Anna said trying to not laugh at us.
"Where is he?" I asked.
"He's over there painting the booths and props". She pointed.
You can do this Carra there's no reason to be nervous I thought to myself. As I got closer to where Lucas was I could not help but notice that he seemed deep in thought. When I was standing right behind him he turned and our eyes locked and I sucked in a breath.
