Matt brooded over the situation and awaited the arrival of the sheriff. The car had not been wrecked, it looked as if something had torn it to pieces—pulled was a better description. The best he could imagine was that Tammy had skipped out of the hospital, planning on running somewhere so no one could take the babies, and she had made it home.
