When Diane cut the call, it was for a purpose. She couldn't bear to see Thomas working in another department or around some of woman officer. Her dreams of being with him were being put to the test each day with the on-going Capri investigation. In fact, from the moment he saw Wendy's photo, Thomas was not himself anymore.
Diane knew then that her chances of being with him was slim. Her mind raced back to that moment she stepped into Thomas's house and he told her to lower her voice. It had never occured to her to do so before. And so she found this behaviour quite strange. The thought of it kept itching her and made her to start asking herself questions.
Was he alone? Was he with someone and if so with whom? She didn't want to believe it was Wendy.
No. It couldn't be Wendy. She shrugged at the thought of the investigation being corrupted by Thomas himself. She knew he wouldn't do that but seeing his attachment to Wendy she had her doubts.
Her mind was now being filled with doubts, lots of doubts. What if Wendy was really in the house with Thomas? she asked herself. She paced up and down the house trying to think of it as just her imagination over-working itself.
But she was restless and needed to find out. She quickly grabbed her gun and car keys and went out. She was going to Thomas's house. A ten minutes drive got her to Thomas's house. She parked her car on a side street direclty opposite Thomas's house and waited. She could now see from the distance when Thomas would come out of his house.
After a few minutes of waiting in the car, Diane saw Thomas come out of the house. He wasn't alone, Wendy was with. She was shocked and weakened when she saw Wendy. Her hand quickly went for her gun.
Reading Wendy's criminal past got her thinking that Wendy could in a split second do the unthinkable. She held her gun tight and was getting ready to come out of her car. She frowned at seeing Thomas holding Wendy's hands.
She had in her years as a Police offficer, learnt a lot about criminals and their behaviour. And she knew they were never to be trusted. She took a deep breath as she prepared herself to go out and face the two loved birds. Suddenly her phone rang just as she was about to open the car door and go after Wendy.
She sighed on hearing it ring. She had to take the call as it was the very same person she called to report Thomas.
"Hello?"
"Officer Rodriguez?"came the voice
" Listen can I call you back if that's okay with you?" she asked
"Just listen. We are taking care of the problem you reported earlier,"
"What problem?"
"Thomas."
"Wait what..?" Sitting in her car she saw two black vans screech to a stop one behind the other. They had stopped in front of Thomas and Wendy. She heard the sound of the side doors open and then slammed shut. The vans sped off with full speed.
"Sorry Officer Rodriguez were you asking a question?" came the voice. Diane was shocked. She was close to getting Wendy and Thomas but this little distraction forced her into losing both of them. She instantly cut the call.
What happened to Wendy and Thomas? She asked herself. Right before her eyes they were gone and she didn't know if they got into the vans that pulled up in front of them. She was clueless blaming herself for not taking action immediately. She started her car and went home. When she got home the first thing she had in mind was to call Thomas.
