Meeting Wendy wasn't Thomas's idea. He was investigating a crime which involved a theft that resulted in the murder of a top company executive. Someone had killed Alonso Capri, owner of the Capri foundation. It was during a search for his murderers that Wendy's name came up.
As he was directly involved in the investigation he asked to see her photos. When it was brought to him, he was stunned. He had never seen so much beauty being accused of an executive crime.
For a while he held the photos in his hands to the amazement of his colleague Diane Rodrigo.
"Thomas am I wrong or you're fancying a killer?" Diane could see he was attracted to Wendy.
"There's a mistake here," he said like he knew Wendy was not involved in the murder.
"Have you fallen for her so fast that you're blind already?"
Thomas looked at Diane and then dumped the photo of Wendy on the desk. "I don't know who's trying to frame her for this murder, but she's clean,"
"Oh my God!" Diane couldn't hold her anger at seeing Thomas support a muderer.
"Thomas, this woman is as guilty as the other guys whose photos you saw. She can't be different" she declared moving her head from left to right.
"I'm thinking you hate her enough to want to pin the murder on her," he said looking sharply into Diane's eyes.
"And I'm thinking you're falling far too cheap for my liking," Diane walked away from him in disgust.
She knew Thomas well enough as having worked alongside him for long. But she had never seen him take so much interest in a suspect and this bothered her.
After Diane left, Thomas took another good look at the photo of Wendy. Unknow to him, Diane was observing him from where she was standing. And so when he looked up and saw her, she quickly turned and walked away.
'Diane is right', he thought to himself. He had taken so much interest in Wendy that all he wanted was to know her. Know who she was seeing and what she did for a living
and the places she usually went to and the people she hang out with. And so for the next few hours he gathered all the information he could about her.
When he was through he had a clear picture of Wendy. He took a deep breath at finally knowing her. Now all he had to do was to track her down and find out how she could have been involved in the murder. He finally found her on the trip to Paris and this was when they decided to see each other.
When Thomas opened the front door and saw Wendy, he smiled
"Welcome to my home Wendy. Was it difficult getting here?" he hugged her and blew her a kiss. She put her arms around his shoulder and as the door closed she answered,
"I'm here right now and that's it." She blew him a kiss and held onto him so tightly.
" Hey there, we'll have more time for all of this." he said taking her hands off his shoulders.
"Im terribly excited you know. I mean I've never done this before"
"Done what?" Thomas tried to figure out.
"You know like meet a person in their place on the first date."
"I guess there's a first time for everything," Thomas said smiling at her. But he had something different on his mind. He was thinking of the information he had gathered about her.
And there was so much he had gathered about her to which he wanted confirmation. Now that she was in his house, he had all the time to do so. But he was beginning to think that it might not be a good idea after all.
